Only really effective if favourite scores first.

what if 0-0?

also 2 quick goals in milan game, no time to trade out

I suspect the poster is banking on there not being many 0-0s.

Lyon 1-0 Backed draw @ 4.60

I also think the better strategy is if you use halftime draw method. you will make better profits

nice work handicapper. what was your initial stake? just made a quid doing this in the napoli game too. nothing groundbreaking obv

I don't wanna sound like a tool but very few on here impress me as much as i-only-lay and i did the free money bet by the way Laugh

What are your stakes? Only problem is if the outsider scores first the draw wont move.
By:
i-only-lay
When: 18 Sep 11 20:36
£100 stakes

also i do it in games with teams that are close(ish) odds so the draw moves.

would'nt do it barca, real man utd etc etc

both teams have to be odds against (preferably 2-25-3.25)  ideally both between 2.50-3.00 like totts/lpool this afternoon

Well i will keep my eye on this and if you make a regular profit i will start using it Laugh

Halftime market is to dodgy for me though.

lokeren vs brugge lay draw @ 2.30  (1-1 2nd half)
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 21:04
I notice the Benfica/Academica game was 5.2 to lay at 0-0 with 24 minutes gone. The lay went up to 10.0-11.0 after they went a goal up.
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 21:05
Obviously the odds wouldn't have been very close to begin with.

GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!

lokeren 1-2 brugge

layed draw 2.30 backed draw @ 15.00 (+£80.44)

All done for tonight. 3 trades 3 winners

nights profit +£128.89

Wow. Nice result!   I can see there's probably a bit of mileage in laying the draw with 20 minutes or so to go, since the odds will often be quite low by then, and any goal will change them dramatically. I don't know what the statistics are on late goals - there're probably rather more of them then you'd think.

Just did this on the Betis game. Layed @ 3.6 backed at 6.4 profit £40 whatever happens.
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 21:32
Yes, I've been watching the Betis markets. 3.55 before the off. Just over 6.0 after the first goal from Betis. Went up to about 7.0 after the second Betis goal. Now at around 6.6-6.8.

You'd be needing to watch the scores quite closely, but there seems to be something in it.

its a fairly well known and documented strategy and it has it's risks obviously.

you using £100 stakes too u want some?
By:
i-only-lay
When: 18 Sep 11 21:44
you have to make sure you pick games that if a goal is scored the draw odds will drift instead of shortening

like levante vs madrid is no good because if levante score 1st then the draw odds shorten

2 teams over 2.00 but under 3.00 are ideal like spurs/lpool today

this is a great thread, keep it going mate
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 22:07
Indeed.  So what about this Lanus v Boca Juniors match starting in 5 minutes then? The teams are quite close together. The draw is fairly low (3.15 to lay, at the time of writing).

Yeah, why not. I don't mind chucking away a few quid on this. Let laying the draw commence!

you got a better strategy Contrarian?
By:
LordBobbbin

Right. First decision. 0-1. Now up to 4.0...  Stick or twist...
By:
paulme
When: 18 Sep 11 22:19
hmm dunno. surely we should stick to the system and green up now
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 22:20
Well I've greened up. Does mean I've only made 1/8 of the risk I took.
By:
LordBobbbin

By:
i-only-lay
When: 18 Sep 11 22:22
green up guys.

its all about getting free money ASAP

once you have that money locked in then you can trade again in play.  if it gets back to 1-1 you can lay the draw again hoping for 3rd goal for bigger profits
By:
Contrarian
When: 18 Sep 11 22:22
you got a better strategy Contrarian?

Yes. Several.

Why do people latch onto this 'lay the draw' idea?

Without some independent reason for thinking the draw price is too short, it has no hope of success.
By:
paulme
When: 18 Sep 11 22:24
would love to hear them Contrarian if you have anything better...
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 22:24
Just so that you know Contrarian, I do have quite a few good strategies of my own. But I'm bored at the moment and so I'm playing a few pennies on this.
By:
LordBobbbin
When: 18 Sep 11 22:27
Contrarian, the rationale I was using was that very few matches end 0-0. As long as there was a goal, I'd have a chance to get out, and would probably be able to make a little bit of money as a result of doing so.

LB,

I wasn't directing my original comment at you, by the way. (I didn't see your post immediately preceding mine).
