There was a lot to like about Footsoldiers, but also a lot to be concerned about. I think, TOTGA, you should let this thread die and start a fresh horse laying thread, else you'll end up tarnished.

True REM, i will be leaving this thread alone now, i feel its going to be too much to ressurect a thread of this quality!
I wont be recording my lays on an thread for horse racing as i do feel it has some quality behind it, i shall keep it to myself!! Will be concentrating a bit more on my correct score lays for a bit now! |

Went the same way as his local team apparently. Gretna. And to think that they reached a Scottish cup final.

Respect for somebody (FOOTSOLDIERS) who stole near 100K to forumites and lost more than 3-400K on sports...
Lyon - Rangers 1-3 FT. |

FT was 0-3

He was a deluded, dangerous person who fooled a lot of forumites, some joined in with him financially and lost their money. I twigged him straight away, said so many times and was abused because of it.
|
|
By:
he didnt fool or cheat anyone
if people want to invest in someone or something they know they are taking a risk and nothing is certain, these people were quite happy to take any cut of winnings, he didnt win they knew the risk before they invested, they gambled by investing in footsoldiers and it didnt pay off. footsoldiers was gambling just like all the investors were gambling by investing in him, just like investing through a hedger in the stock market, some win some lose there all adults and knew the risks. |

rubbish james dean

By:
please explain why its rubbish dlarssnof?
surely they knew what they were investing in when the word "betfair" was mentioned you pay your money you take your chance, don't come running crying if it doesnt work out, no one put a gun to their heads |
|
By:
listen James I couldn't be arsed getting into it with you as doesn't involve me. Yes the people who invested with him where are the quick buck and saying they are stupid would be an understatement
Apparently there is 100,000 missing from the pot. If this is true then that is not investing that is fraud/robbery whatever you want to call it. Don't be making out the fella was ome sort of genuis ffs |
|
By:
where did i say the guy was a genuis ?
what i'm saying is people that invest in other people to make money for them by gambling are always open to the risk of losing their money, they pay their money and take their chances. no point in coming on here calling the guy all the names under the sun because it didnt work out |
|
By:
dlarssonf pointed out "Apparently there is 100,000 missing from the pot."
He is not talking about it going wrong through losing (although that was a nice part of it too) they were on here fighting over allegedly stolen money. Don't you see there is a difference? |

Don't think it was 100k that was lost, as said above.
On the thread where Footsoldiers was arguing with the other members they all agreed 400K + was gone , and there was some dispute about the rest of the 500k start bank, as to wether it had also been lost on here or wether it was just 'unaccounted for'. |
|
By:
think this thread should be deleted by b/fair police
and .....LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE ....... most of the people know what went on and would rather the subject never arise again |
|
By:
Don't think I've read this before. What's the general gist?
|

Footsoldiers had some followers on here as he appeared to be succesful. They (and their relatives) got together 500k for a syndicate with Footsoldiers choosing the bets.
One of the first bets was laying Rangers away to Lyon at about 9/1; this was a losing bet, costing about 75k i think . From what i recall this meant that the expected monthly payments could not be made to members, so there was then a lot of chasing, resulting in all the money being lost. This particular thread was ongoing during - and was part of - the chasing. Though when i looked through it before there is not much mention of the syndicate, though a couple of the members do pop in now and then, and all seems well. Eventually , around March/April 2008 , there was a meeting of the members where it became apparent to everyone there was no more money. That all came out on here afterwards on a thread on the tennis forum. Nothing was heard from Footsoldiers for several months , then he started a thread on this forum, and it was a very readable thread once the forumites who had lost their money joined in. They were all very, very bitter indeed to say the least . Never seen anything like it on here . Of course that thread was deleted and no more was heard of Footsoldiers. Guernsey has a good point, though it is useful as a cautionary tale maybe. |

I could have told Footsoldiers that chasing is for mugs. Would have saved a lot of bother by the sounds of it.

This £500k, was any proof provided that the bets actually took place & that the money didn't just end up resting in someone's account?

kenilworth, I argued with him on many occasions about value. He was clueless and thought a value seeking punter was one who backed big prices!
I found it incredulous that people danced to his tune like he was the pied piper. I remember his doubling up laying every fav for a place at one meeting per day, one Saturday he was trying to lay one for something like 7k in the last race to make £50 for the day. He got lucky yet still his followers thought he was a genius! |
|
By:
to be fair kenilworth is never shy of bigging himself up
|
|
By:
If he (kenilworth) doubted footsoldiers from day one, he has every right to boast, as footsoldiers had the majority on here in his hip pocket!
|

By:
hehe..not me
but yeah, respect to kenny, i like him, though i think he hates me |

You dared question the soundness of what he was doing, his supporters where all over you with brickbats...

By:
There was no "soundness" in what he was doing..............as he/she never believed in "VALUE"
