Isn't there a possibility that BF are not skimming if they don't late bets from the front of the queue? An example.
A 2 outcome game between player 1 and player 2. Gambler A wants to back player 1 at 3.0 for 1,000 Gambler B wants to back player 2 at 1.4 for 2,000 Gambler C wants to back player 2 at 1.5 for 2,000 There is nobody explicitly wanting to lay either player. So the 'To Back' is empty for both player 1 and player 2. 'To Lay' looks like this: Player 1: 3.0 (1000) Player 2: 1.4 (2000) 1.5 (2000) What I have read from this thread is an assumption that Gambler A will be matched with Gambler B, leaving 200 spare for BF. But what if all they are doing is matching Gambler A with Gambler C. OK they didn't take the money from the front of the lay queue (which would have given Gambler A best price) but they haven't skimmed anything. |

lol at the advert
'betfair, betting as it should be' JML, just read that - it's still betfair inteferance tho and i'm totally against that there really isn't a problem in people getting matched, or at least the problem isn't big enough to justify this |

So the 'To Back' is empty for both player 1 and player 2 is empty

there can't be a single tennis trader who hasn't thought in the last few days: hang on, betfair are in this market and they have no delay Thats why they can't be.......otherwise they are stupid...why not leave the system the way it is and just clean up with no delay ??? Nobody would realise as money would be taken it the same way it always has....money now gets swept for example at FT in football, but usually by people knowing the whistle is about to go, be it at the ground on fastest pictures.....betfair could do this if it was an option with all the integrity stuff they have to meet! They would not be allowed to remove money from the market...what people are saying is another commission.....which I suppose I am just proving is possible...as they could be saying we are offering this additional service so deserve the transaction commission :^0 .....but they will have to give the option to opt out of cross matching if that is the case |
By:
i remember that system. it was better than this, but a little misleading. effectively it turned 2 outcome markets into 1 outcome markets by posting up equivalent odds on both sides of the market, of course not all of that money actually existed as they doubled what had been inputted in order to display it.
betfair removed it 'due to a technical issue' according ot their Q&A regarding this latest development, basically people such as myself and some others were complaining strongly at it. not sure they listened or not, but there was IMO not much likelyhood of it being for technical reasons. |
By:
Brandon, If there was someone on the same side of the market laying the 2.0 then this would always match. It is only when there is no match on the one side of the market that betfair will cross-match and this is when best odds should still be given.
........ As things are now, yes, let's hope it remains that way. |

The advert also says, "Betfair punters match bets against each other". Well they do 90% of the time but when super bot goes into action bets are not "matched" at all. The 2 parties are not subject to the same conditions so they cannot be described as matching against each other.

I cant really understand how it's interference.
It's all mathematics. |

Thats exactly the point betfair said they didn't want in the Q and A...they didn't want money displayed that wasn't really there |
By:
It's about time Betfair made a statement about this, after all the system change is effectively robbing people like the OP, but no information was made available to allow users such as him to protect his positions.

The 2 parties are not subject to the same conditions so they cannot be described as matching against each other. They are though...if you lay at overbroke at 60.......as far matching goes you are matching at 1.02 but with more people!! Betfair are not involved other than the way they were before..being the middleman! |
By:
I cannot state this enough....if you believe you have been robbed, then send the evidence to Betfair....phone up, make waves, demand answers!!!
Just saying I layed at 60 and it was matched........is not being robbed...you asked to lay at that price and betfair put you in contact with peiople that wanted to back at less than that |
By:
Exactly. Bets are only matched if the bet and lay amounts are there.
By:
So if you back @ 1.5 and 1.55 is there you'll still accept 1.5?
By:
if you believe you have been robbed, then send the evidence to Betfair
i personally have said that but.... how on gods green planet would you be able prove it? that's my point 'we matched you with x at 1.02 for x amount marcus' 'oh, ok then' |
By:
i personally have NEVER said that
By:
luckylucas does make a valid point. no one punter on any one bet is being done. if you back too short rather than lay and get matched then you cannot say you would've definitely done better pre-betfairbot because it would've been almost impossible for you cancel and resubmit to get the better odds on the other side. so no one punter can go and complain about being done. a beautiful scam!
By:
:^0 The only problem if there was a scam is how they explain away the masses of money coming into the organisation.....especially where the gambling commission and government are concerned...I would e-mail the integrity team if I was worried!
By:
I disagree. The single punter placing the bet which takes the market overround is being "done" because he is not getting best price - the cornerstone principle of the market.
By:
he is not being done though as previously he would not have got best price...atleast he is getting matched in an efficient manner.....I agree ideally he would get best price, but I imagine the algorithm and strange odds that would be possible make it very difficult to achieve...this sytem is far simpler
By:
he is not being done though as previously he would not have got best price
He previously had the chance to cancel before being skimmed. |
By:
the betfairy - that best price was on the other side and in practise virtually impossible to get at.
By:
though i agree about prev having the chance to cancel.
By:
the betfairy - that best price was on the other side and in practise virtually impossible to get at.
Now they give it to you and ski you at the same time, without mny permission. I'd rather they gave me best price or not skim. |

The Betfairy 09 Mar 17:18
he is not being done though as previously he would not have got best price He previously had the chance to cancel before being skimmed. not skimmed, matched |
By:
I agree, but why should you have the chance to cancel..you placed a bet and if it can be matched it should be
By:
They are matching bets and not giving best prices. Matching at best prices is the cornerstone of the market dynamics. If I place a bet at 1.9 I expect to mop up 1.91, 1.92, 1.93 and 1.94. It's a fundamental change, and a very serious one, especially one whihc has not been communicated openly.
By:
but you do sweep those up if they are there on your option....and I have many times this weekend
By:
If you place a bet at 1.9, how on earth are you going to get 1.91?
By:
Betfair are now effectively considering the market as a single runner, but only giving best prices on part of the available money. That's a serious change (all arguements aside concerning the missing money).
By:
Soupo, please use your imagination to understand a (maybe) poorly written example. Otherwise people will think you're being deliberately obtuse.
By:
Soup 09 Mar 17:27
If you place a bet at 1.9, how on earth are you going to get 1.91? You will if the money is there...whats your point.....if you are backing no goal at 1.9 and 1.95 is there you will get 1.95.......if however the money isn't there and the money is matched in a different market you will get 1.9 |
By:
so lucky who do you think gets the excess profit, if your sure its not betfair?
By:
luckylucas. - Do you not accept that Betfair are making money out of this new system?
By:
The money can go to three possible people:
Punter A Punter B Betfair |

so lucky who do you think gets the excess profit, if your sure its not betfair? MoneyBagger 09 Mar 17:33 luckylucas. - Do you not accept that Betfair are making money out of this new system? As I have already explained...read back...there are no excess profits there is an amount of money will to be matched that is then matched with the people waiting...I don't believe betfair are making money directly with this system. (I am willing to, if evidence is given, although as tmm says this will be nearly impossible) |
By:
Do you accept they take bets on the games mkts?

Yes, they have stated that...those are their games and the odds are set
