Watching the IR prices used to cost me a lot of money - if I had a lay in the race and it seemed to be going well (looking at prices) I would try to re-back/red up. ending up with the original lay losing but having a red book . Try not to watch via interface - every lay looks like its going in :-)

|

shame about the last one, but ahead on the day so far :-)
|

Yep - was going well there. Cant expect to win them all though mate. We're only trying to win more than we lose.....not win every single bet we place ! ;-) As long as we turn a profit in the long run thats all that counts :-)

By:
yep thats the nature of the beast !! 2 steps forward 1.5 steps back ;-)
handy break in the schedule, so at least evening meal prepared now..... |

Cant believe Carleton Windsor 6.55. Layed it at 8.37 (ave) this morning expecting it to drift - but now it's trading @ 16.5. unreal drift.
|

By:
yep i looked at it when the afternoon stuff finished and according to my notes it was 9.2/9.6, so i thought it was safe to leave till nearer off. Thought about plaice laying it, but that is tempting fate, so will just have to watch this one.

Thought about plaice laying it, but that is tempting fate, so will just have to watch this one. Not to worry mate - I think that quite a high % of my lays shorten nearer the off so waiting at late as possible isn't a bad strategy. You will miss the occasional lay as price will be too big but on the other hand you will make good savings on some of the real shorteners if they win and you will also make extra profit in takings - the shorter you lay! My dad also lays my selections and did exactly the same as you and thought he would wait until nearer the off - instead of giving it a miss he layed IR and managed to get 7.6!! So its up to you really mate. |

pro do u think u have found the patience and discipline to see it out? reckon you could go a long way with this if u keep ur head Morning Fox - yes. I have definitely stopped making stupid plays over the last few months. I have consistently layed/bet only my daily selections that I choose in the morning without betting on anything for the sake of it. Keeping a thread like this going has has really helped with my discipline and has helped me focus on what I should be doing:-) I can't see that changing if I can continue to turn a profit, I like seeing the stakes increase too much for me to lose my discipline!;-) |

cracking performance so far Steve. I'm paper trialling a lay bet selection framework at the moment and may go live in a few weeks if it delivers. I'm watching your thread with interest in particular the staking as I'm not sure what staking I'll be using. I'm toying with the idea of a reverse Maria, ie lower stakes for lower odds and higher stakes for bigger odds working on an assumption that the higher priced horses should win less often. I wonder what that would do to your P&L if applied to your results so far? What's the average price of your losing bets?
I also like the look of the 123 6 pack staking as suggested on another thread as this would boost a profitable plan with a good strike rate and recover the inevitable losing bet losses quicker. keep it up mate. Gary |

Gary Alright Gary Thanks a lot mate :-) That is interesting - but with this staking plan, ie having 7 price brackets you are in effect laying the shorter prices to lose less, and the longer prices to lose more. I know the stakes are bigger when laying lower prices but the liabilities are actually smaller. So in effect doing the same thing as you mention ;-) Steve |

I did see this on another thread - I think he bets in series of 6. ie 1st 6 x 1 point 2nd 6 x 2 points 3rd 6 x 3 points I think he does this until he has recouped his losses from previous cycles. TBH I haven't tried this but it may be worth having a look at. I may run it over a few bets and see out of interest. Steve |

blimey big drift on mr ross, will have to put an i/r lay in at 8.6 and hope it gets a bite
|
|
By:
Yes couldnt believe it - got matched @ 10.5 this a.m. thought it was going to drift but that took the pi55! :-)
|
|
By:
Don't know what's been going on today but all the selections today bar a couple have drifted like crazy. Mister Ross in the 5.05 Ascot was 7.8 this morning and went off with a BSP of 20.0! and Backfromthecongo in the 2.30 Southwell drifted from 9/2 to 8/1! Too many layers ;-)
|
|
By:
I got lucky and layed backfrothecongo @ 5.6 !! others i laid, then they shortened... swings and roundabouts i guess..... though we dont have to worry too much when the bloke picking the horses is so good :-)
I started following properly the day you had 3 winners, saturday i think, so was playing catch-up a bit but nicely ahead now, long may it continue.. |

been good discipline as well, just sticking to these *
