Why would you scratch tade berdych but not kuznetsova? Berdych I had and could scratch and Kutznetsova? I had no chance to scratch her. this is part of my strategy. and today was a bad day, I agree. cheers |

Horselover, no doubt you are getting to watch a lot of tennis and learning more and more about individual players. Are you not tempted to adopt something different at this stage, to..."evolve", if that word is appropriate?. You must be watching matches and markets all day at this stage. I think the nature of this strategy means you will always suffer days like this, and thus never really make SIGNIFICANT profit. Bad luck today. Good luck for tomorrow.

By:
Yes, I actually think you are doing pretty well but I would have thought you would have adjusted your strategy a little by now, based on your experiences here. I don't think it would take much to turn this into a gradual profit maker.

I still dont this strategy.
So you'll never back odds against either even if significant value? :

Good morning guys,
I will anser you in one posting. Yes I am watching a lot of tennis, maybe I am learning or not. I will stick to my strategy. For example Karlovic yesterday, who could know that he will lose the TB 0-7? this was a bad beat, because I dididn't my scratch.or Kutznetsova? was it only me who thought that she will take at least one set or win? I could go on and on with examples. but I am not an aftertimer and not a whiner. Thank you all for trying to help. Very much appreciated. Good luck all |

Fair enough, good that you have faith in your strategy.
But the way I see it is that you are almost blindly backing fav's and you will be fortunate to make any significant profit over the long run. If these arent value bets then I really don't see any possible edge. Like someone mentioned earlier betfair will like you for the amount of comm you generate for them :

Haas @1.39 on clay against a local player with extensive claycourt experience? Are you sure you've done your homework? am I the only one who backed Haas? the price is telling me that he is fav. but who made him the fav? so all those who made him the fav didn't do their homework. bib, I really appreciate your opinions and postings, but with this one I really can't agree. the whole betting business is made by 2 different opinions. I have chosen to back the favs cheers |

so all those who made him the fav didn't do their homework. I see where you're coming from now, I didn't realize until now that this was your M.O. when capping a tennis match. |

I'm not sure what people don't get.
Horselover's strategy is to blindly back as many favourites priced between 1.25 and 1.89 as possible (apart from a select few who he won't). He doesn't care about the price he gets so long as it falls within that range. If I manipulated a market so that Bernard Tomic was 1.4 against Nadal at the French Open then he'd take $600 of it. He perceives his edge to come from his exit strategy, nowhere else, 'value' is an irrelevant and non-existent term. In response to an earlier posting Expected Value is subjective. So to an opinion bettor who considers the true price of a selection winning to be 2.0 then a price of 2.4 might be far enough out of line as to make it have a positive EV. However to a trader who believes the market has a large enough chance of drifting to 2.6 so as to make laying it with the intent of trading back then laying the 2.4 might have a positive expectation. Just like beauty, value lies in the eyes of the beholder. |
