From my experience the stats can't be relied on.

If they could we'd all be millionaires!

STATS for HORSE RACING are essential part of finding an "edge".....IMO.

Naturally stats will not guarantee on one particular race that they will hold up......but you can spot at a glance where the winner is likely to come from, and "VALUE" bets can be found if you know where winner is likely to come from in that type of race over the distance and on the same/similar going at the particular time of the season.

It is not the STATS that are not "reliable".....it is yersel normally for most punters !DevilLaugh

Of course you will get bumps in the road, but stats are the foundation to ALL bookmaker run events. Thats why when you see a 'plunge' you have got to take note. How do you think they price up markets or where the forecast prices come from? past results, performances and stats.

Here's another one for you, over 90% of races are won by the 1st and 2nd fav in the first 2 non handicap races of the day.
Why? because it give the bookie time to recoup. Thats why the feature race is around half way through the card and the fav seldom (eg less than stats for favs) wins it.

Take the 1st 2 non handocaps races today for example. Guaranteed? of course not, but they win far more than they "should".

there ya go ~ the fav in the first (a maiden) wins. It was heavily backed now the bookies will do the obvious.
By:
Lex
When: 25 Jul 13 14:05
look at the price of the fav in the next - (dont be a smart arze and say there are only 3 runners - it would be well short whatever compared with its forecast) If it wins the bookies will recoup over the next 5 races approx.
It aint random, and it aint roulette and ain't rocket salad.

2/3 the next sandown 14:30 is a handicap with the forecast fav arbaah deposed. The market fav is not likely to win and Statistically arbaah is good value. probably
By:
Lex
When: 25 Jul 13 14:36
fav lost and arbaah ran ok, but faded, watch it next time out if running within 30 days.

Statistically watch the sole or duel market movers at the off ~  New Rich 14:40 is a back to lay for me.

When: 25 Jul 13 14:42
3rd after blowing the start, sort of ok. but the fav won, so I'm watching the next fav.

Haha what have I started!

When I said that the stats can't be relied on, I didn't mean that they were no use. Some people talk like they're perfect! I didn't mean you Lex, I meant in general.

Haha Lex, the bookies will have you working for them next with your great psychology! I must say, I'm quite impressed!

It sounds like you're doing something more than backing blindly which is definitely a good thing.

Maybe you have got an edge???

Good luck anyway!

As you asked so  nicely Laugh

26-07-2013

Favs SR 15/47 =31.91%, Ave SP 2.72,
Void races 7/47 =14.89% ave sp 12.71,
Winning races 24/47 =51.06%
Longest winning run 5

I made about 90 quid over all accounts on the day which is quite nice as a hobby.

When dealing with all horsey favs, and I have 'systems' for other price bands as well,
this is very useful ~ 35.75% sr, 2.65 ave bookie sp ~
for those of you who put in the research you will see that this is the corner stone to calculating your stake relationship to your losing run. If you know that then that's all you need to know, even if using martingale type betting but you will need brown corduroy's and a I really would not recommend it. Better to go for the more gentle % of the bank approach as I mentioned. The fun for me is not the amount you win but the way the day unfolds as you predict it.
If you increase your bank by just your minimum bet every day and compound it .....

But unless there is a glaring example I wont be posting on this again.

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See
and dragging them to a trough for a drink is a lot harder.

Thanks Lex, it's always a pleasure to read your posts! Seeing as you're not going to be posting any more I might as well kill myself then!

Haha making about 90 quid in one day is more than a hobby! Unless you're very rich of course!

with a favourite 8 in a row.
