Haha does someone say to the favourite "Listen, the last 5 favourites have won, so this means that you have to lose!"

"Err... OK then I'll make it look as convincing as possible!"

Martindale is fit for the bin!!!

Pint of what your drinking please Crazy

actually it was the 7/10 stat I gave previously.
Also applied to the Ruler Of The World race as well.

Don't believe me? then count 'em for your self and then check results for the past 20 years. Laugh

Somebody once said to me that I don't need drink or drugs cos I'm already there!

I think we'd make a good friendship Lex cos I also haven't got a clue what you're on about!

Hope you stay away from Martin, he's bad news!

martingale is just a staking system.  the idea that a run of results wont happen i.e man u away losing, is a selection system.  dont get the two mixed up.  if you can find a selection system that returns a profit at level stakes, you are on the road to gold.

Has anyone ever won user the Martingale system? Looks like the road to bankruptcy to me.

For me, it's not just the winning, it's the worry and stress that goes with it?

How are you gonna feel after you've doubled up 10 times!

High top

sorry no,  consecutive one race folling another eg 2.0, 2.15,2.30,2.45.3.0  etc.

Heres another one. more than 8 conseq losing favs starting backing them. eg windsor 15.55 is short but should win.
By:
Lex
When: 30 Jun 13 15:53
mind you back a few years there was 2 days of no favs about 50 races, but the 3rd day was a bumper crop !

I thought I would add that true martingale doubling up refers to casino games @ evens.
You dont double up at all, you divide the total loss by the odds you bet at allowing for comms of course.
And you dont need to get it all back at once either, spread it over a few bets. As long as you return more than your stake you'll get there.

This site could be worth checking out. It gives you lots of random numbers so you can do tests to see if Martingale would work. I don't want anybody on here to go bankrupt!

Longest ever losing streak for favs as far as I can see, since 2003, is 23 consecutive losses.

There was a run of 43 consecutive losing UK clear favs between Monday 07/03/2005 and Thursday 11/03/2005.  I won't list them all; the table below should suffice.

    Day/Date        Bets        Wins        SR%
    Mon 7 March 2005        21        8        38.10%
    Tue 8 March 2005        13        0        0.00%
    Wed 9 March 2005        17        0        0.00%
    Thu 10 March 2005        20        2        10.00%
    Fri 11 March 2005        16        9        56.25%
    Sat 12 March 2005        29        11        37.93%

WOW! 43!!! That's amazing!!!

And I bet that a lot of those were odds on!
By:

When: 02 Jul 13 04:50
Oddly enough only one of them was odds on, @ 4/6 ISP.

The average ISP was a tick under 11/5.
By:
sheppy123
When: 02 Jul 13 08:51
WOW! That's even more amazing! So much for Martingale and the laws of averages.

I've thought about it so many times over the years, I'm glad I always resisted it!

When: 02 Jul 13 09:08
Sorry I'm getting totally mixed up!

43 consecutive losing favourites is really something. But, it's the complete opposite of what I said.

It's less amazing that only one of them was odds on regarding not winning.

There was a question about Martingale on "The Chase" last night.

I shouted at the top of my voice before the options came up "MARTINGALE!"

thanks top2 for digging that out. I dimly remember it happening (as I said) and it caused a bit of fuss on here amongst some guys doing a bit of reckless staking.

Didn't realise how long I've been on here ! I really should get out more Laugh

knockcroghery wins. The next one may well win, but no need if martingaling.
