Schalke, I have a progressive, regressive reverse bochere upside down , and whitewashed martingale, with a hint of kelly, (after 10 consecutive losses) thrown in for good measure. starting with a negative mid point, to ensure liabilities are kept to a maximum. all this can be yours for a mere FIVER,

I may let you have it for free as you are clearly a hopeless case.

You've proven yourself to be a mug over a good few years, Schalke, but this thread has took you to new depths.

You are either the greatest fisherman ever to grace the Betfair fora or you are a the saddest case I have come across.

The ironic thing is that you couldn't buy the sound advice and reasoning you have received over the years from some great minds who have all tried to help many of them not out to ridicule.

Rafael Nadal, A bit harsh mate, especially as we are reading this on a Betting Exchange forum, where the whole point of being on here is to win money from other people/forumites. It makes the giving or taking advice a bit dubious at best and plain stupid at worst.

For me and I'm sure many others the forum is just a bit of fun. Yes some people do ask for and receive advice on here, and throw ideas around, makes it all the more interesting. but not something I would seriously subscribe to myself.

Many of the things I have done on the forum have been new systems, yes a lot of them didn't get anywhere but I have done that all my betting life, try new things. But, I went back to my old s#tyle of betting with my las £40 thread and it's winning .. it's doubled in what, 6 weeks? I used to have hundreds of them all going at once making me money .... the "mug" threads well, thats up to you to call them that, experiments to me. The 1.01 was both good and bad, I'm a mug cause I bet low, so ****** what !

law of averages doesnt come into it....if i toss a coin and it gives 25 consecutive tails, its still even money i'll throw tails on the 26th

If this ever happens, you should take a closer look at the coin and also at the (for want of a better word)

2. Football Over/Under 2.5 goals .... this one took me months to do experiments on and hundreds of paperwork but I did make it pay, even ran a thread on Soccer forum for a while doing it ... Go and check out the sequences of all the teams in the leagues and write down all the sequences to every team in every league you want to do it on. I done it on all the english, scottish, german and spanish. Write back for their last 10 matches, and once you have a sequence of around 7 or 8 in a row thats when you go in with the money as they are due to hit the opposite .... only a few teams in the time I researched reached around 12 in a row but that would only be 4 chases so you would be fine if going in on match 9. Also depends on the fixtures as well, I was avoiding the likely scorelines ie, top club v bottom club, so as well as the sequence you have to sometimes avoid certain fixtures. Good fun, but lot of work keeping on track of all results.

Wonder if you did your dough on Swansea? They had 18 unders in a row I think this season lol. You would be bankrupt if you started backing overs after 8 unders in a row.

The ultimate roulette system is 'the firebreathing dragon'. The great thing is that it allows you to win when you're 'on fire' but squirts water to douse the 'flames of defeat'.

This secret system was handed to me whilst on my travels through Tibet. A highly secretive monk made tens of millions for charitable endeavors using this system.

All I can say at this stage is that it involves recognizing patterns in the sequences, the most profitable of which is the dragon sequence itself.

I can't tell you more at this stage, but the system is for sale for only £500. Hurry as there are only 10 copies left. Money isn't the issue here, we will select the ten 'chosen ones' from the list of applicants that already includes hundreds.

I guess I'm a bit of a purist in that if I can't make a method pay to level stakes then I don't believe there's any future in it. I can't imagine a bigger waste of time than spending weeks or months Martingaling, for all the gains to be blown at any point in the future. There's no security in sitting on a ticking bomb, but perhaps some punters get a needed buzz out of that without even realising it?

TrevH is spot on. If the selections don't return a profit to level stakes, then no fancy staking system incl. Martingale will help you. You're betting on the sequence of wins at that point.

Also, when an outcome hasn't happened for a while, rather than think that it's due (it isn't) it's far more logical to think that the trend will continue. If a coin comes up heads 10 times in a row, there's no logical reason to back tails next time.

Swansea went under 2.5 20 games in a row - random? Not in my opinion.

By the way, if the original poster was serious, the guy needs help.

LOL you must have gone to a good school, I think we were about 15 when Martingale came up in Maths. Someone suggested it and for about 10 mins no one could find a hole, before inevitably the "limited amount of money in the universe" problem surfaced :-)

Schalke I like how you say that working out the outcome of a sporting event is easier than red/black at roulette. How so? Red/black is a math certainty 50%.How easy is that to work out.Certainly a lot easier than any sporting event.

For some reason we were very very gambling orientated from an early age.

The first bet I can prove to myself I had with no exaggeration I had when I was 8 and we were playing 3 card brag at 11 or 12 for our lunch money (Those two I have reference points for).

I don't know when we debunked Martingale in class but I wasn't exaggerating about when we debunked it :D

If it's a 50/50 math certainty then why do you get a run of for example 12 reds? You never know whats going to come next in Roulette, whereas in sport it's far easier to guess what will happen with form/stats/line-ups/conditions/stage of events/what the match means/ etc etc

I would rather put my money on a tennis match than I would on red or black

Lori, is there anywhere I can read about Martingale apart from where the example of doubling up is on Even money shots .... has anyone ever studied the martingale system on different odds and how it affects the chances? The martingale system solely depends on your bank limit, but I for one would NOT do martingale on even money shots, but on odds on shots I would and have ..... proven to be very good in the long run for me, and short term

Goodness, now that is harsh catfleppo, I have had words with very few on here, and can't remember you being one of them.

What was it we disagreed on?

If you are with Schalke and his ideas regarding the unimportance of value and now this bizarre idea that the probability regarding a red/black spin is somehow altered by past results, then I can understand, how it could have occurred but you username doesn't ring a bell.

Enlighten me please.

Schalke,

No progressive staking system (nor any staking system, for that matter) can turn a negative expectation to a positive. This is why Martingale doesn't allow you to make money at roulette.

The difference that progressive staking systems make is to bring you to the point of reaching your bank limit that much faster - this is why they are bad news. Of course, you're right that it is better to do this on odds-on shots rather than even money shots, because you are less likely to go bust as fast - but it is still mistaken. The Kelly staking criterion is the rational, and opposite, approach.
By:
Treble_Underscore
When: 28 Mar 10 20:15
Wasting time on worrying about staking when the worry should be that the vast majority of your bets have no definable edge or are indeed negative expectation.

I dare say if you have a yield in the very high double figures or treble figures, then martingale is as good a staking plan as any other - you can't really go wrong with that sort of return.

That would never happen to you Schalke since the vast majority of your bets are singles at odds on, so its a mathematical impossibility. Contrarian wrote a lot of sense. Essentially for the way you bet, anything that makes you increase stakes is a bad idea, since you are just becoming more likely to lose more money faster than you already do.

Can't think of a situation where martingale is an IDEAL staking plan - perhaps I can be corrected. Personally I use level stakes slightly modified, with a barrier built in - I don't have the confidence in my pricing to use kelly since I just feel stupid saying "I make Man U 1.32443223 today but they are available at 1.40 so my bet has to be 2134.23" or similar.

Worry less about staking, and more about how you might actually turn a long run profit. Come back to staking when you have concrete figures that make you much more likely than not to actually make a profit.

Martingale can be used very well in certain markets - you just got to find them.

I use it on a certain market, i have a bank that can sustain a losing run of 8 losses. The longest losing run is 3 and that has only happened 4 times in over 6 years.

Before trying any staking system may I recommend "fixed odds sports betting" by Joseph Buchdahl it has a large section on various staking methods which have been run through a computer to see how quickly bankruptcy is achieved you can probably pick a copy up for a fiver I promise you will never consider using such staking systems again!
