i usually leave them. Both backs and lays.
Just depends iof i backed one in the thought iof laying off later. If i backed a Harchibald type id obviously lay off, however i wouldnt lay off something i backed IR for saftey. I do put lays in the system for lots of backs but cancel if i think its the right thing to do as pointless giving away value just to feel secure. LOng term greening up for the sake of it is poor imo However for a manic chaser like me it may be a good idea |

You maybe need to spend 5 grand koo and see somebody like paul mckenna ;)
|
|
By:
Ive read his book on how to lose weight :(
Its slowly working i think. Maybe need to read it more :) |
|
By:
** the book...if you can afford it...go see him!
Worth 1 thousand books..trust me ;) |
|

don't be getting a complex fatty :-)
seriously koo, looking at the results at cheltenham only, do you not think you should not have made money just laying today, and a flaw in your system appears that you take a view pre race, which if wrong you are going to lose money, when IR with fast pics you don't need to take a view ?? |

Just out of interest Roo what 5 impossible things happened no probs if you dont wanna share it Brook no argument at huntingdon, iroquois warrior at taunton (thought that was a milion to stay 3m) and a few others that i couldnt get my breath over. The hardest thing to do is stop playing like a pussy, the minute you do everything goes rite and you make a couple of grand when you should make 3 or 4 times that amount.. ts a frustrating game at times.. |
|
By:
It is a frustrating game at times Roo,do you play in running backing or laying.140k is a lot of cash and you obviously know your stuff, sometimes though it feels like nothing goes your way.I have enjoyed reading this thread and getting an insite into some of the bigger players.

Oh and as my mate always says to me "Anything can happen in racing" "ANYTHING".

The last 4 months have been very tough imo.I have never known so many beasts that i have backed that look like they are going to bollt up to either get run down on the line or not get up in time.
|
|
By:
I have been at it 23 years and i have never known so many ppl struggling at the same time, you just have to ride it out, have a steely determination and try not to lose confidence, sadly thats the one thing i am sadly lacking at the moment..
|
|
By:
A lack of confidence and feeling invinceible are two of the many pitfalls

Koo
I know you trade in-play a lot.....but when taking a position pre-race what 'tools' do you use to make your decisions - form-lines,handicapping,sectionals,race-reading or just intuition from previous form. I find the more time spent mapping out how particular races will be run the better the reward....becomes almost boring to watch as intuition tells me I will win......my problems lie with this study as it is time consuming and I have days when I decide to just trade football/basketball keeping it simple.....also keeps my mind fresh not to be involved with horses daily. |

Can I ask all you experienced guys, very roughly how many faves win at cheltenham? None today, is that more or less the norm give or take one? |

Never felt so bored today doing this. What an anti-climax having no cheltenham. But am having a decent day regardless somehow.
Feel as though i cant be arsedd anymore today but will hold off posting until im sure im not playing anymore. Might just have a banana for tea as cant eat crrap all week just because its chetenham. But am back out tonight playing a rearranged pool match. Need to stay off the drink though as it makes me incrfedibly hungry qwhen i get back in and is hampering my get fitter efforts. |
|
By:
Worst thing you can do, "just have a banana" and then go on a eating binge 2 days later.
Totally ferks up your metabolic rate, just eat a good portioned chicken salad to keep you going. Otherwise it will inevitably end in a Large doner and *****on the way home ;) |
|
By:
Havent had any tea as yet :( Will have more than a banana before going out
A truely uneventful day and as such i cannot find the motivation to play a few more races at Wolves. Beginning to think i found it boring as i couldnt be bothered to gamble today and go for a few big bets, or did i see it easy today and the loss of cheltenham made me feel bored. Anyways a decent days profit helped by a nice layer giving evens Silver Hotspur at Southwell down the home straight.
