koo just found your thread , very interesting do u only play in running?
By:
it accounts for 95% of my plays id guess.
By:
really admire your resolution to keep going after your setback had similar setback couple of years ago u must dust yourself down and get back at it ,if your judgement is sound and u get a little discipline there is nothing to stop u getting it all back and more very best of luck

Koo I hope you write a book. I will buy it.
Prepare yourself to win 200K and then maybe use 100k to buy something that you can invest in. |
By:
Koo
You still taking most of your positions from the off in each race then trading accordingly......I remember this is what you where good at??? |
By:
I'll take a few positions from the off. Todays pre off position taken was on Tora Techa ( i think ) as i could see an easy lead was gonna be given. Backed at 2.9 and within 1 hurdle was 2.5 ish and went evens not long after. Was nicely all green for a few hundred without really thinking.
Though admit to not liking them plays as much as i tend to go greedy and ask for 2-3k pre race. And its a high % of the bank to risk should i fall early. I couldnt right a book, cant even spell ;) Topclass - this game is all about ups and downs. Suppose my mentality lends itself to higher swings though. Hoping to keep this up for as long as i need. The one thing i can say has been learned already is that for me the deposit limit is a vital thiing to employ. Takes away the stress that i can blow too much in one sitting whioch is always my weakness. |

Good stuff koo .. keep it up .. but if you fancy talking to friends then do it & switch off for a while !
My appologies for calling it a trap bet .. I fully understand it wasn't my mistake .. let's just call it a Luck bet then .. but the same principles of guilt & greed still apply .. nothing personal of course .. just the nature of the beast ;) gl |

Whats the right thing to do when yourt miles in front early doors ?
Should i play on or should i stop ? This is where my brain says stop but the gambler in me says keep playing on normally. However with a lack of options of what to do otherwise i'll play on today. But if poeople can say what i should do i'll take it on board for next time |
By:
press on no point in stopping whilst your going well :) there'd be no marathon runners if everyone stopped after 100 metres
By:
why not get out for a couple of hours.
get some fresh air and if you still want to make some money when you get back then at least you know your heads in the right place |
By:
I think it depends where you are mentally, if you start over betting because you believe you are betting with free money as it were, then you should stop!
However if you have control of your emotions then I see no reason to stop, if you have an edge then the more times you can apply that edge the better off you will be! |
By:
it's pis sing down outside and he'd miss the majority of the racing

Its not nice weather here - well its spitting and abit overcast
I'll see how i fare in the next few races. Im off out tonight for a game of snooker so cant pop to the pub and also im trying to shed a stone or 2 so thats not the best idea. If it fares up i'll go for a walk i think. Lost 500 quid there at Stratford, anymore losses of that magnitude and i'll go out |

Koo... 10 Mar 15:03
Whats the right thing to do when yourt miles in front early doors ? Should i play on or should i stop ? By the sounds of the way you play, it might be an idea to withdraw back to your starting bank, take 10 mins to clear your head and then carry on as if it is a new day. |

great thread koo, very interesting :-)

agree with lagonda, very interesting thread, think you write with a lot of honesty, more than a lot of us would do,
or could do, will keep reading with interest, good luck at Cheltenham. |
By:
Nice one Koo - only just spotted this thread, didn't realise you'd had such a bad run...
I thought it was quite easy today, perhaps a few weekend punters have taken the whole week off :) I'm nearing the end of my own personal comeback (I hope) after my -40k on the 1st. Hope you continue to head in the right direction - good luck for Cheltenham |
By:
Well done Koo.
By:
Great thread, love to read the honest trials and tribulations of a big player on here.
Can understand why the real monsters on Betfair who make the regular BIG money daily don't come on the forum and discuss what they do..but its fascinating reading when a thread like this does crop up with a genuine big dog so to speak. Well donr Koo. |

Got a dilemma that needs an answer............ its Cheltenham. The markets are more liquid so therfore should i break off the 10k limit for it or should i stick with it ?
Im torn between the 2 tbh. But i think i should treat it like any other day since its the big losses per day that kill me. However there might be opportunity's to take some easy money. Im favouring sticking with the 10k bank as the thing is not ot be greedy, however thats hard for me to accept really :( |
By:
Its only 4 days...how much damage could you do?
By:
Silly question :(
By:
Be a shame to drop the 30k i have in here in one sitting. Back to square one then isnt it. Actually i suppose that answers my question doesnt it. Play it with a straight bat and play the same way everyday.
Gonna withdraw the winnings and start tomorrow as any other day, even though it plainly isnt. |
By:
Just withdrawn to the 10k.......... its the right thing to do although its against my inner gambling nature. Maybe i can cure myself of ill discipline :)
By:
do you really need to do Cheltenham
is it not an option to have 4 days off, have a few bets and just enjoy the action? |
By:
Go for it Chelt is once a year..yer obviously not a plodder..so take the handbrake off.
By:
d13phe - not really got many fancies this year so may as well work it. Defo thinking of going next year or sitting back like you say and enjoying it.
T&C - going for it is what causes me problems :( |
By:
Stick with a game plan. 10 to 30 odd and gamblers glitter sets in. You're doing the right thing imo. If you bomb it its only your 10.
By:
well if it helps
something that really helps me is a rule list i have on my wall next to my computer GL |
By:
If anything ..reduce size of bank...you are already well ahead of the MILLION target after 4 days.....
CHELTENHAM for most backers is really difficult...large fields and very competitive........as you probably LAY more than back, then in theory you should do well.......BUT it is such a tricky meeting and it would be frustrating for you if you increased bank and chucked it away after such an excellent 4 days. Up to you though...but why not just enjoy the meeting. |
By:
going for it is what causes me problems
I disagree....going for it is what has got you the sucess you've had |
By:
Koo, can i ask you a serious question...
in your infinite wisdom, how much, on average, should a 100k bank produce in monthly/annual returns... the reason i ask is simple...been here for a few years now and won and lost plenty along the way, over the last year i have done quite well with a small bank ( 5k ) with a laying system i have perfected ( i think ) I have access to 100k that i am seriously considering playing with, this would not be my only income as i make a decent amount monthly from a financial business i have on the side...but i have plenty of time in the afternoons to work at my real passion...horse racing. what are your views? or anybody elses (sensible) views |
By:
What i mean is i'll still go for it with a 10k tank. And the downside is only 10k whereas if i leave it all in a bad day means every penny is lost.
Ive always said a good balance to have is that your worst days are less than or equal to your best days. And if you lay more like me then you should really have more winning days than losing so in the longterm it becomes impossioble to lose. Thats how i thinhk of it all. For me anyways |
By:
You can't change your makeup. So yes you will be going for it as usual I suspect. However you won't be getting tremours if you drop a load early on when you've made a conscius effort to build up to thirty. I'm assuming you took a long look at the situation after dropping your pants. Keep that in mind.
By:
Sensible view would be to say if your unsure then dont put the 100k in.
Its hard to say what % u should return, but the % should be independent of the starting bank. Therefore keep playing the way you'd play with the 100k and see where you go. If you cant make anything with a 5k bank then why would a 100k be any different. If anything having a bigger bank just makes everything harder, as this thread basically has shown. Therefore have a 5k tank and maybe then class another 2 5k banks as reserves if the first one goes. But gambling is hard so id suggest no play unless your double sure and are making some now. However i know i need more pople playing so yeah go for it ;) |
By:
lol ;)
By:
koo I dropped the stakes for the last 7 days and lo and behold 7 winning days from 7.
By:
been making a comfortable 2-3k a month with a 5k bank for 11 straight months.... with 100k this would translate to 40-60k a month...just seems unrealistic..besides i doubt there would be the liquiidty to lay some selections.
