1, Because ive always liked gambling and see this as a way of not having to work. Always felt i was good enough to make money at it before i started making any money at it if only i gave it the time it deserved.
2(a), no targets as such. Except to remain profitable in the long term. 2(c) i sacrifice most things now for it. I am trying to give up drinking, not totally but partially as i found it impossible to win with a hangover. But i think i do more than most. I am sdedicated to this game, maybe too much some might say. 3, absolutely no idea. Id go on holiday and play some golf for a while. But job wise i dont no. If gambling was banned, then id assume we'd not have any meaningful horse racing in this country. So id be lost. But id eventually get a job as you need to to pay the bills. Just like job through uni where i had to count pigs heads as they got cut off and put 50 into skips all day long. |

Firstly, the 200k. It was caused by a 'Metal Detector' factor in that the commentator called the wrong horse. I sawe this and was first one to correct the market for the mistake. 2nd - the losing 5k in the first 2 races. yes i know this is bad. Thats why i said its very hard to just go from laying at 1k stakes to laying to lose 1k. I manged it better as the day went on, but its hard ti break the habib forming patterns of the last serveral months. if i can see anything else needing an answer i'll try to answer lads. but for now need some quality time with the punters bible |

Koo-Just a bit curious-do you play same stakes on ATR (ala last night Dundalk/Wolvs) as you would with the benefits of the meeting being covered by SIS ???
|
|
By:
Koo, your honesty is so refreshing, so many people talk so much tripe on here.
May I suggest that you take steps to get some help from somebody who can help you to make order of your life? I believe it would be a turning point for you, and could put you in a position to profit from your knowledge. I am qualified to do so, and the last thing I am trying to do is advertise for business because I don't really have the time. However, at no charge I would be happy to swap a few emails with you if you want........jwlk277@aol.com. |

By:
yes scooby - well the same settings on Gruss. Lay to lose payout of 1k, but i'll only usually click once and i try to do business before the home bend and rely on pace angles. Ive never reallly been a strong player late on as the track people beat you on SIS anyways.
Laid the Bramcote hoss making the running for a nice wedge and got Financial times at 14's IR for a bit. Thats why it looks i bet heavy as normal on the ATR meetings where in reality i was trying to be more conservative but the bets just fell into my lap and i couldnt resist them |

Fair enough Koo.
I backed METAL DETECTOR that day BEFORE the race started...as it met the criteria as being top rated horse in that race ( hard to believe ...but it was). When DT called it as falling....all I could do was swear and mump for a few seconds ( the time you were acting to put more on, knowing it had not fallen)......then I saw the horse was ok and was at the back of the pack. As that race progessed I just could not take my eyes off that horse. I was always at least 20/30 lengths in the rear of field....and just looking at the horse it looked a bit like a coal horse....however, every time the jockey asked the horse to catch up a wee bit with leaders it always responded. It was still about 20 lengths down at half way in a distance race. The jockey finally asked it to move forward into a more prominent position....and it did so readily ...ploughing through the mud....when it was about 8 lengths off pace it began to look like a winner....but I was that absorbed in how it was getting into the race...that I never lumped on IR ( did not do IR bets at that time). WD on getting matched so quickly....bad luck WH on this as well......you must love DT now Koo :D It certainly was an odd sort of race ....as early on you just would not have thought MD could win from position it was in....however, I knew it had strong factors in its favour that day...so was just fascinated watching this race ( it was a high odds SP horse BEFORE the start of race)..................I never knew about how much was at stake due to the wrong call by DT.....as the race was more "interesting" to me than the markets. Certainly a "story" worth going into your book Koo.........you probably have a cd of race and pictures of METAL DETECTOR all over your house ( not the most attractive of horses.....but a brave horse on the day) . I can't be bothered doing system today...spent too much time on here already......MON MICHEL appears in with a good chance to win the 3.15 race...but so many in field that is a bit of a lottery. Opted for LETTERPRESS in last at AYR as nap.......the horses that have ran before may have that fitness edge over LP....but at the weights and on the going LP looks to have a fair chance to win.....MR GERRARD might be worth keeping an eye on in race. GL again with bets today. |

Mine wasnt the metal detector race fella................... but it was same scenario. I used that as everyone on the horses knows what happened there.
Mine was called Optimus Prime in Ireland. 8th November to be precise. No pictures of him though. Got a lobvely one of Rooster Booster in my office though. I want one of my boy in here as well when he wins for me one day lol |

You're obviously an all or nothing merchant. You will have your ups and downs. But the latter will win out in the end. Just hope you have a backup plan for the rest of your life. |

im allin - it is called poetic license ......The liberty taken by an artist or a writer in deviating from conventional form or fact to achieve a desired effect.
After I posted I remembered it was not muddy going..........but seemed to dramatise the story better when typing! The horse was a staying type though and that is one of reasons it was top rated for me....and conditions suited it re distance of race at that time of year in that type of race...... WD Koo ....at this rate you will have your million by end of year :D |

Good work koo, keep it up! In a similar situation myself. Magpie sums it up really well for me.

koo,
hi mate, good luck with it all mate, refreshing thread. hope it all goes well in near future. just quick question. wot do u make most of ur money on... u mentioned you have fast pics, is this right? how do u get these, and do you play in-running mainly, or are you trading/ laying etc etc, good luck anyway, interesting reading cheers |
|
By:
Make most of my money IR on the horses. And i play throughout the race. I also back, i arent sure which makes me more to be honest. Like ti think both as then you got 2 options everyrace to get a profitable bet.
The fast pics are a help, but are no different to what people get in exchange shops. |
|
By:
cheers. how did you get the fast pics then? you work from home, or a shop etc?

After a couple of years on ATR/RUK i decided to shell out and pay for the SIS service at home.
|
|
By:
nice, how much that set u back. im thinking its probably well worth it
|
|
By:
SIS home service is about 640 a month
|
|
By:
would you say it is worth it?? pays for itself in other words?
|
|
By:
all depends on how you play the game....... stakes and when in the race you play. If you can afford 630 for SIS you still only have half the tracks and are still behind the track people
If your making 5k + a month then id say its worth it, maybe even less. But everyones different. Need your own house as well as im not sure landlords would allow a dish that size on his house |
|
By:
How you do today koo?

Its on the previous page Mick. A pleasing day in both result and how i got there :)

Day by day and inch by iinch. But in which overall direction ?
I don't care Koo if you succeed in the end as your success is not my failure. All I care is that other more naive posters see the true folly of you and your approach to gambling. Hence my repeated doomsaying postings. Nothing personal, but I don't see you as any sort of role model to be lauded and/or encouraged publicly. |
|
By:
this is an interesting thread, it raises many questions about gambling.
Do we need to have a purpose, or a specific target when gambling, instead of gambling for the sake of it or through greed? Are big wins such as the 200k actually a bad instead of a good thing? Could mess with your head, as it seems to have done with Koo, and as happened to me when I won 6k for a 20 stake and it was gone a month later! And can any of us, even those who make big money on here or fulltimers, claim to be in absolute control of this game, or are we all, in a certain set of cirumstances, susceptible to gambling problems or even addiction? |
|

We all have to fight the demons within, winners and losers alike

great stuff Koo ur on the way back great thread as well mate
200k Jeeeze i could retire with that :-) all the best .. |
|
By:
Well done today Koo. If you can make 10k+ a week like that then all the best to you! Most couldn't of course, but that doesn't mean you can't. Take it steady and GL!

A funny old day when i couldnt be bothered really, was playing games all day and had visitors through the day. managed to talk to them whilst on here but felt unconfortable i guess. The race at Warwick where i lost could have been nasty as i was all over the shop and clicking without without thinking really. Bets in too near hurdles really there
But overall i played solid and a couiple of nice plays made it a decent days profit. Though i can play alot better than that and probably win less.
