Probably been done before many times so apologies, if it has.

Ok never started one of these before but saw something posted on the horse racing forum last night and which directed me to a thread on here. After reading union jacks latest investment thread of a lay a day for .0% gain. I noticed that he'd racked up well over a month of successful lays of horses that have prices less than 10's. Although admittedly he had a couple of blips early on.

While I like checking in on UJ's threads from time to time, I've never been one to have the patience to do something like that but fancied a similar challenge with a greater risk reward. The only problem his the way I wish to do it goes against the strategy I normally adopt. Which is basically seeking out 'value' by backing at decent odds and laying the odd short priced favourite. imo that's where the value is on Betfair.

Anyway I thought, how hard can it be choosing one or two selections every day or so, going 'all-in' on each one giving at least a 10% return on investment. So backing at 1.1 or a bit higher and laying at 11's or a bit lower.

To make it interesting for the knockers and the supporters the start bank will be £250 so if successful the bank after 30 selections will be £4k+. And the sums staked will quickly be decent amounts.

Summary:-

Start Bank £250
Each bet risking 100% of current bank
Odds of each bet to provide at least 10% return
Averaging 1 bet each day

Note - As I am knew to backing selections for such a small return my average number of bets may increase depending on how opportunties develop. This will just mean I reach the target or go bust sooner!

For the knockers:-

1. I've never wished a fellow punter to lose, even the fast pics 1.01 boys and even if a punter isn't particularly pleasant. The way I see it is that we're all here to do the same thing - make a bit of money !

For the supporters:-

1. Only really bet on horses and dogs these days so suggestions for other sports would be much appreciated. Basically I'm aiming to average one bet a day for a month.

2. When suggesting bets you need to bear in mind that if this thing gets past the first few selections then there needs to be sufficient market liquidity for bets to be placed in well in advance of an event start time or events with SP betting available.

3. Info on 'non-triers' would be much appreciated!

Cheers

I think 'the strategy i normally adopt' is better ;)

Will be amazed if you reach 20 without being wiped out

No Harm in this though if the £250 investment is just for a bit of fun.Never done one of these either, but i can see how building a winning sequence can be enjoyable, and betting for fun is ok :)

What i think annoys people on here is when people - eg Odwyer - start challenges like this saying they are going to make a living out of it and can't go wrong.

Thanks for the encouragement

Harder than I thought coming up with a selection! If i'd studied before I might not have bothered with this! Anway landed on two for today so I've put up the one that runs earliest and at the moment has the highest odds.

I said I may increase my average number of bets early days. This was obviously a warning for betting on a sport I no nothing about. No more today until a possible lay of a horse this afternoon which I'll post prior to the event. Haven't identified one as yet though.

Good luck with this...an interesting idea. Sounds like a good bank building strategy, how many 1/10 shots would fail if you know your sport??

Nice Start.

Though posting up your bets after they've already won - as with 2&3 - may lead people to doubt your credibilty.

Not that i do :)

cheers for the comments guys

tobermory - I understand what you're saying about 2 after event postings. Just got a new lap top and having problems with the browser window resizing at will and making everything really small or really big. It frustrates the hell out of me. The two bets were while I was watching and using my laptop. Should really have posted the tennis one though cos I had time to post on my desktop. The rugby one was with a couple of minutes to go so there wasn't time either way. They were both a couple of slightly reckless bets to get a few in early doors if I'm honest. Not keen on the IR bets anyway, I've traded plenty of times I/R in the past on major Golf, tennis and footie events but never short odds bet. I would have made a tidy some trading on the tennis matchtrading in my normal manner cos the odds flip flopped so much.

Don't know if anyone knows how to cure the resizing issue cos I haven't worked it out yet. My old lap top never did it but the screen was larger. The magnifying glass appears and it's off again. Don't get any problems with my desktop though.

Happens with firefox, chrome and IE
I've cleared cookies etc etc and that doesn't work.

Will make sure all the bets are posted before the event completion in future

:-)

I know mate, I had noticed before you posted anyway, was a bit short of time cos when I placed the bet the odds changed which left me with a few quid to try and get on which isn't easy when your stake will be less than £2. Still left me with just of 4quid in my bank.

SP was much higher so it was worth all the f@nnying around
