yes dan the US racing are normally my main markets. Very rarely lay though, just the odd short priced favourite. There's better value to be had backing at bigger prices. Not been doing much on it since I started this. Just had a small bank that I transfer between aussie/Uk wallets to keep things seperate for a bit of 'fun'. I'm playing tonight and did so last night.
had a 60/1 winner last night! |

ok so 3 more bets left until I reach the 30 so I have decided to bank some more money before the final push. This means that my banked profit is now £2k which has made it a seriously worthwhile excersise regardless of how the last 3 bets go.
STARTING BANK = £250 BANKED = £2250 CURRENT BANK = £1,985.79 CURRENT PROFIT = £3,985.79 BANKED PROFIT = £2000 |

good luck with the last few bets mate

Well done Johnny, greed has been the downfall of many a good punter.

Well done JW, excellent thread and a great run, hope it continues for you. I do something similiar myself but use only 20% of my current bank as liability. I'd hate to lose everything on one bet going down so when bank is large better to risk only a % of it. Sensible move banking some of your profits along the way. Good luck with this, hope it continues for you, you'd be surprised how many of these bets you can get in on the trot!!

Bet 30
I am putting my money where my mouth is for the final one. On the 2% thread I recommended the following bet but didn't place it because of time. Murray lost first set so I have placed in running. Got the following matched. So will bank the rest of the money and up date stats in a bit. Lay Backer's Odds Backer's Stake Payout Liability F Gonzalez 3 - 0 4.34 £453.34 £1,966.95 £1,513.61 |
|
By:
so you know what I'm on about this is from the 2% thread.
Johnny Wad 02 Jun 13:55 Laying F Gonzalez 3 - 0 in setting betting against Murray seems reasonable @ 8.4's. I would include it in my challenge but I'm looking at the horses this afternoon and it will tie all my money up for too long. Although I could be able to green up early on if Murray wins the first set. |

Nice one. Happy for ya, Johnny. :)

I've seen hundreds of these thread go t1ts up, about time someone went all the way,
well done. |
|
By:
So you've turned a £250 Bank into a £3,000 one, and banked £2k on top of that. :) Making nearly 5k from £250 in less than 2 weeks very pleasing to see.
I'd surmise from your opening post that as you have a concept of value you were not just guessing either and had a good idea that these things you layed ought to have been a higher price ;) Very Well Done to you Johnny, 1st one of these i've seen succeed. You come across as a decent guy from your posts and answered critcism ( which was mostly from me :D ) politely instead of seething which a lot of those who do these threads invariably do. |
|
By:
Great effort Johnny -job done with a £5k profit!
Best of luck in future efforts -hope you post them again- it's been great fun just following this! |
|
By:
Well done Johnny Wad.
Ithought banking every now and again was like taking 5 steps forward then 3 steps back. But it was a sensible way to proceed. Because putting 100% on each selection and banking nothing would have given you final bank of £9057.91. But,with the risk of returning to zero £££ bank at any stage :0 Yep wd!! |
|
By:
bank it all and start again :D
|
|
By:
Very well done, mate.

After several years on Betfair I thought I knew everything about the markets but I've learnt quite a lot doing this. I'm not saying that this is the way forward but there is also value to be had at the shorter end of the market particularly laying selections. As someone said earlier in the thread 'less can be more'. I've also noticed that many selections that go in-running trade a lot shorter (LAYS) or longer (backs), this is particularly highlighted with my horse selections where the majority have traded at least 2 points shorter. I think 2 traded odds on and ended up unplaced. I may try some I/R keep bets to improve the value moving forward. Value can also be had where the traders expect the selection to trade shorter at some point I/R. I'm not kidding myself that there wasn't some luck involved along the way. One tennis bet looked dodgy for a while and one horse finished a close 2nd. Well I was originally going to bank another £2k leaving a shade over £1k moving forward but I think that is just being greedy so I'm banking £2.5k and carrying on with a bank of £543.53. Suggested selections are always welcome, I will take full responsibility if I follow them. After 30 selections STARTING BANK = £250 BANKED = £4750 CURRENT BANK = £543.53 CURRENT PROFIT = £5,043.53 BANKED PROFIT = £4500 no more bets today! |
