Surprised if this hasn't been mentioned but while I've been unable to place bets through WiFi in France on a few occasions recently, Spain and the US (wife likes to spend my winnings), I've never had a problem getting on to Betfair through the app on my phone, as long as I've paid for data abroad. I'm assuming, if it's been thought about at all by the authorities, that it's counted as betting at home, as effectively using a domestic data connection, just one hosted abroad.

bf can't determine the location of a phone in the way they can with an IP address.
Some governments block bf (at least from time to time like Indonesia) but other countries are blocked by bf itself. Which is why you can access from a phone. |

Slogger, if you want to avoid data charges, try using a VPN hosted in the UK. I've heard bf blocks some VPNs, but not others.
When bf Australia was down for several days, I could access bf UK using a VPN, but got kicked off when I logged in. I assume because I'm an Australian account, which won't apply to you. |

Always buy data when abroad so isn't really a problem but will keep the vpn idea in mind.

I notice that Singapore is down as a 'YES'
Try as I might, using my laptop in my Singapore hotel, trying to log into Betfair I got a message saying that I was not allowed access to that website. Clearly I was doing something wrong. |

Been told Australia is a no, but anyone know if I will get away with it on my mobile phone?

Has anyone tried to keep a list and keep it up-to-date?

Early 2017 Andorra was a YES.
Now Andorra is a NO :( |
By:
Slovakia appears to have become a NO within the last 2 or 3 weeks. You now get re-directed to a web-page telling you about the Finance Act's restrictions on betting sites.

All I ever see in this thread is Yes's becoming No's ........love to see some No's becoming Yes's like Germany, France & Italy.

Anyone now the availability in Rwanda?

If holidaying in USA you rang up Betfair phoneline to authorise a bet, do you get arrested by USA police?
|
By:
Even in UK if you try to logon to Betfair from a Public Library you will likely be blocked. My Library will not even allow logon to RacingPost.com
|
By:
If USA blocks Betfair access and it is against their law, so be it.
Pesumably they would not allow anyone there to ring up Ladbrokes in UK to strike a bet either? |
By:
Spain is a no
|

US could be a yes this year, that would be giant for betfair liquidity if they legalize it
|
By:
Loggin in from a shared wifi is (1st) unsane (2nd) proibited from betfair as they know is a manner to get your data stolen
|

Great thread. Thanks everyone! :)

Is there any chance Spain will be a 'Yes' in the near future?
I´m moving out there next month with my gf. I know they do have Betfair (a Spanish version it seemed) but very poor liquidity. |
