Gamesmanship, it's always around where money is involved. I remember Spurs once had a German player who could do graceful swallow dives into the penalty area, I'm sure Aspro will remember his name.

Good to see France 4-2 up

The England Sweden game will be interesting.
By:
Yeah tough game but preferable
route to Germany then France/spain |
By:
Switzerland spain
By:
So in theory, they can avoid Spain until the final, is that correct?
By:
Very easy for England, and good that Russo got her goal. That said don't think the defence (and not just Carter) is anywhere near good enough to see them winning this. Wales ran at them a couple times at pace, and they looked all over the shop. Hard to believe they won't be shown up again by the better sides.

By:
Yep Spain are in other half of draw with
France and Germany and the Swiss. Eng v Sweden Winner plays Italy v norway France v germany Winner plays Spain v switzerland |
By:
Looks by far the better route. Sweden the main obstacle. Italy and Norway are not particularly dangerous. Italy looked strong defensively, Norway just had an easy passage.
By:
my limited knowledge but France look half decent to me, around 8/1 on here have also backed England
By:
I think that Sweden played very well yesterday, but they were flattered by a terrible performance by Germany, particularly in defence. and the German keeper was a joke. I think England should reach the final now.
By:
Yes, that's who I was thinking of.

For me I'm only interested in the performances of Sweden and Germany up to the penalty and red card. She put her hand up to protect her face, which is a natural instinct making a sliding block like she did. The ball would have hit her smack in the face. It's a penalty and red card, but it's unfortunate. The game was dead once the penalty was scored. Up until the penalty, Sweden were about 1.85 iirc, making Germany around 2.18 to win the remainder of the match. Considering Germany started the match about 2.4 to win in 90 minutes, that tells me Germany weren't as bad, or Sweden as good, as people are talking. The Germans underwhelmed in both prior matches and I think that led to their gung-ho approach against the Swedes. They were prolly too up for it. It will help them being perceived as the underdogs for this game, and I expect a much more measured performance against France, who have a long history of bottling it at the business end of women's tournaments.

Thanks for your thoughts Clydebank. With the possible exception of Spain V Switzerland, it looks as if the easy pickings are over. Good while it lasted.

If England are genuinely 2nd best team then Spain should be odds on. Prescient |
By:
I'm slightly surprised England is fav against Sweden tomorrow; Sweden beat Germany 4-1 with a German player red-carded.
Spain seems to have an easy passage against Switzerland on friday; France plays Germany on saturday. Latest market: Spain 4/5; England 17/4; France 7/1; Sweden 10/1; Germany 12/1. |

Any thoughts on tonight's game?
By:
I fancy Norway
Will get some advice from my niece |
By:
I can't make up my mind. Italy's defence looked well organised but they only scored one in each of their group games. Norway's games were all over 2.5 and they didn't keep a clean sheet in any group game. The market is currently favouring unders and Italy to qualify. I might place a bet in running when I've had a look at how the teams are playing and not before.
By:
Yes. It depends who makes the running and commits men ( so to speak ). Italy have largely played on the break. Will Norway be naive?
I dont think so |
By:
italy played well against Spain, play to that level and they should beat Norway handily. The trouble is the lack of consistency, as it is with womens teams in general. Norway have won all of their games, so they have been consistent, but consistently bad imo. They have a couple of very experienced players, which you might expect to be potential match winners. trouble is they haven't turned up as far as I have seen, and I don't think they deserve to have gotten this far. Unders is my bet with Italy to qualify.
By:
Some woeful football on display but I think Norway are better than Italy and have pace on them
By:
I think it's safe to say that neither of these teams will win the comp. lots of poor control, poor decision making and basic errors by both teams. wouldn't be surprised if it goes to pens. don't expect many more 5-2 or 6-1 type scorelines at the KO stage
By:
Norway will get hammered if they are fortunate enough to get through and play England imo. Very much second best here and very much had the rub of the green in their group matches. Probably were just about the best team in their group but it was an appallingly bad group. They did seem to improve a lot second half against Switzerland
By:
I've layed Italy at 1.33 as I think Norway are capable of getting one back
By:
offside, but would've been harsh, went down too easily
By:
oh, they've given it
By:
bad miss

Jesus wept.

Looking to lay Italy late on, maybe at 1.20 -- don't trust players at this level to close out
By:
ooh, keeper was slow
By:
1-1 -- why am I so greedy

By:
There we are, greened up.
By:
I had thought that womens keepers had improved a lot, but there's still some shockers around.
By:
It seemed to crawl over the line but just too fast for the two defenders. There might be another goal coming but no further bet from me.
By:
Nice one.

no bet game for me ...big ones still to come
winner of sweden v england gts to the final |
