The truth obviously hurts YHTL.
Mes - the tabloid circulation has obviously plummeted but the The Sun and Daily Mail still do ok, certainly compared to the likes of The Guardian. All of the above named have very similar online readership figures (circa 21m to 22m). |

I'm pleased it hurts you, tough,
|

By:
I'm afraid you are wrong (again) YHTL. In fact i bet on England pre tournament @ 9/2.
Good luck to the players - they are not to blame for the hysterical over reaction, wilful blindness and awful "analysis" offered up by the media, especially the BBC. |

Still hurting, ha ha ha, good to see

Typical lefty response, never any proper counter argument just insults.
Is there not much out there on the net worthy of your "copy and paste" time at the moment ? My betting balance is certainly not hurting btw ! |

The point is tabloids in this country used to rule the roost, they were in bed with politicians, got away with consistently breaking the law, such as hacking into the phones of dead school children to get a story, and constantly bragged about how it was them who won elections.
They were forced online due to saturation in competition and they are no longer the go to source of information, most people get latest breaking stories on their social media feeds or 24 hour rolling news channels, printed stories in papers is out of the date before the ink is dry, the Sun and Mail only survive thanks to their online presence taking in a global audience, a service that specifically panders to people who want to outraged or want to stare at Kym Kardashians huge arse, those clicks equals revenue, they are not concentrating on quality and it doesn't reflect any kind of influence over the general public, their mood or their opinion any more. It's amusing how the Guardian is often held up as the poster child of left wing thinking and ideas given they have such a small readership, some London boroughs have bigger populations then they have people reading their papers, their influence is also greatly exaggerated. It's just another echo chamber the same as practically every major news outlet there is. I'm neither left or right, pigeon holing thoughts into boxes is stupid, everyone should aim to be balanced not tribal, I enjoy caning either side when they get it wrong, Starmer on Winter fuel allowance just before winter began getting ready to kill of some of the 10 million pensioners that no longer qualified, or the that little scrotum Matt Handjob the Health secretary, telling the whole country to stay home away from family, children and friends, all the while he was out sh@gging some bint in an extramarital affair. Do as I say and not as I do. Parasite. Kind Regards. |

I wouldn't disagree with your thoughts mes, but people are often swayed by what they read and the online readership of most (if not all) newspapers is much higher than any previous print readership. Whilst papers like The Sun cannot realistically claim to have affected an election result like they could in the past , they do still have some influence.
There are still plenty out there who like to read a print newspaper, my local village agent still delivers a healthy number each morning although naturally it is the more advanced in years who he is delivering to ! And of course, as we regularly see, never completely trust a politician, no matter which party they represent. |

I backed England at 5.8
Tidy profit but I covered France and Germany too in case they did for Spain which was the point of my bet. It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll. Spain were clearly the best team but my niece told me England could beat anyone but lose to anyone on the night as it proved against France opening up the draw. I was standing on a £70 loss on Spain or something like £156 win if England won so I decided to eliminate the downside risk and green out for a fiver! Which was the right decision but still leaves a taste. |

Overall I would say it was a great tournament and great for women’s football
It is also a huge win for the young men of this country. More girls will now be playing football and other sports. There will be less fatties roaming around in short skirts and boob tubes and that can only be a good thing! I hope the FA, the Government and the NHS can build upon this. Bad news for those who want to divide our society. What is Englishness? Having a big heart! |
|
By:
Village idiot loony loony lefty alert!!!
Please get today’s medication quickly now! Bringing dividing society into a thread about female football!!! How very dare anyone ever criticise and state how poor the standard of women’s football is!! As the whole of Europe has witnessed over the last four weeks. Don’t you say it out loud, shhhhh now, or you will be a……. Bigot wacist bigot wacist!! |

Shame about the final result but that's football

Didn't watch any of it, but did keep in touch with the girls and also watched the latter game highlights. What really puts me off though are the commentators who over state almost every kick or save... irritating. I do appreciate the differences between men and women, but just not my kind of entertainment.

|
By:
The BBC have confirmed that they had a peak live audience of 12.2 million people watching England win the EUROs last night

I thought it was 2 excellent goals that were scored in the 90 minutes, well created and finished. I can't see how anyone can say otherwise unless they have no knowledge of football or have a sad agenda against woman's football.
Well done England, I didn't want you to win, however fair play you got job done and big achievement to retain title no doubts on that. Spain looked tired and subs they brought on were disappointing IMO. |
|
By:
The goals were certainly decent Malay, but the rest of it wasn't up to much, unless of course you have the opposite agenda to which you referred.
The main criticism people have is of the media coverage and the tv channels in particular, they do not paint a true picture of what one sees with ones own eyes. It's fine to promote women's football and shed a positive light on it, but don't make out it's something other than what it actually is. |

Didn't think it was great match myself Dixie but it was no worse than many finals I have seen. I have certainly nothing to gain from being positive about woman's football, and I certainly have never said it's anything other than what it clearly is. It was a competitive European competition well organised for girls/ladies and I enjoyed it but I love football.
I wouldn't watch Rugby, mens or girls/ladies not my game. There is always a mute button Dixie, try it. |
|
By:
Finals in most sports are often cagey drab affairs so i concur there.
Unfortunately although you can mute the TV, if you have the radio on you can't do that, nor with the written press ! |
|
By:
Don't need to read papers Dixie apart from racing post, I don't drive so radio not important to myself. GL
