Yes Foinavon,

Nearly lost my shirt ended up winning plenty. Even England +2 was about 6/5. You felt England would get one and then cut losses. To get 2 goals while trying to figure out how much I wanted to lose was wild. I greened out very quickly after that.

Jess Carter is too slow. We will be torn apart by fast forwards. The lady who scored the second one was muscular and impressive.

The team needs changing, not sure how.

Fact is had we had a centre forward we might have beaten PSG ( in my dreams anyway ).

Agreed WD, England were floundering against those fast breaks on the wings, other teams will have noticed. The short passing at the back involving the gk was a disaster too and they cut that out during the second half. I was resigned to a whopping 60% loss (I had cashed out) until England got the goals back and was then praying for no more during the last 10 minutes. I'm going to recycle my two bob through FC Inter Turku starting in a couple of minutes hoping for a little bonus before loading up on the Spanish game.

I have a schilling on Copenhagen at 6.

Gone fir Spain -2

Plenty of  “ pundits “ have it at 3-1 and 4-1. Frankly I think Spain will destroy the Cheese. Any other home win would not surprise me but -2 gives sufficient return. Will Spain canter with the prospect of France?  I don’t think so.

It's not just the Women who need to learn how to take penalties. You see the same thing in the Premiership. Sidefooting the ball towards the corner gives goalkeepers a chance. Hit the ball anywhere
5/6 feet above the ground (as Laura James did) and no goalie on the planet can stop it even if they
guess right. If they guess right they dive and cannot possibly reach a ball 5 feet above them. It has
always amazed me that footballers don't understand that!

Did you play football yourself professionally ? or take penalties in a European final competition 1/4 final for you're country ?
btw just clarification I wanted them beat and went to sleep when I thought Sweden had put it to bed, but fair play to lionesses they showed great character to get the job done.

I've seen a lot of very, very good players miss penalties in men's game in important games but all that matters is to win the shootout. They are only good are bad if they go in the net more than opponents.

I must be getting sensible Foinavon. Backed draw at 7.2! Took a minuscule green!

worst of both worlds for me. I backed England but levelled off for a loss, when it looked almost certain that Sweden would win. I wanted England out because I don't like their coach, and a few of the players. And I can't stand most of the pundits, comms and presenters. Would've been easier to bear the 90 quid or so loss if Sweden had won, but there you go.
Switzerland are hopeless and Spain will beat them easily.

If they hadn't conceded first, then played that badly. I could have got out ok, but some games just don't go the way you need them to, even if it ends up the way you predicted. Grin

Including shootouts, only 50% of the penalties taken at the 2025 UEFA Women's EURO have been scored (12/24), with five missing the target altogether.

You have to use your judgement Whispering. I try to cut losses early and I usually won't risk a decent profit just trying to get 10 or 20% more. Football can be very cruel at times.

I expect Spain to finish better in the second half
