any news on what newcastle are upto YHTL - are they gonna sell izak to us to re ingorce the squad - Do they even need to?
|
|
By:
They likely need permission off arsenal first
He's been on new advert for 3rd strip release today. He's the chairman's favourite player. Newcastle need to increase turnover to grow club, and reluctance to sell players obviously hinders that. No need to sell Isak, of course. |

Everton's Jarred Branthwaite signs new five year deal with the club.
Excellent news for the Toffees, need to sign some firepower up front now as Beto is the only recognised striker in the squad. Good luck to DCL, probably needed to leave to resurrect his career - whoever signs him will be hoping he recaptures the form he showed under Carlo a few years back. |

Everton fan missed this....
Thierno Barry to Everton, here we go! Deal in place for 22 year old striker to join from Villarreal. Package worth €35m plus add-ons, new striker for David Moyes who was also wanted by more Premier League clubs. |
|
By:
Pipe down, yhtl, you're a Newcastle supporter. Newcastle, Villa, Everton etc. don't have a "Spursy" equivalent nickname due to expectations being low at your football clubs.
And the "Spursy" tag has been abolished now that Spurs are current European champions. |
|
By:
YHTL - recent history has taught me that until any new signing for EFC is over the line then i won't believe it !
Kenny Tete being the latest example.... |
|
By:
Lol, spursy is universal for tottingham.

Tete looked close, but Fulham manager determined

Everton have prepared all documents for Thierno Barry with Villarreal, agreement confirmed. He’s the new striker for David Moyes Fab r |

Barry is not a striker that i have seen much of but does seem to have a bit about him. Seems a bit temperamental at times but maybe the exuberance of youth.
There are not that many established forwards out there in EFC's price range, he's probably the best available. Sofa - spursy is not a tag that can be shed by winning a second tier European competition. As for expectations, i'm not sure why Tottenham fans expectations should be any higher than Villa, Newcastle or Everton fans should be, given that their club has only won TWO league titles in 142 years. Villa have won seven, Newcastle have won four and Everton have won nine. |
|
By:
So why are Villa not mocked for not winning anything in 30 years, Everton in 31 years, Newcastle have one Carling Cup in the last seventy years. Whys don't these teams get mocked as "trophy-dodgers" like Spurs do? Every single team outside the top 4 would absolutely love to win a "second-tier" European trophy.
|
|
By:
How is Newcastle winning titles 120 years ago relevant in any way here?
|
|
By:
In terms of financial clout, according to Forbes (2025), you cannot put a Rizla between Arsenal £3.4b, Spurs £3.3b & Chelsea £3.25b who sit 8th, 9th & 10th respectively in the 'World's Most Valuable Clubs' - only Man Utd (2nd), Liverpool (4th) and City (5th) are above us, with the remaining top 10 gaps filled by Real Madrid (1st), Barcelona (2nd), Bayern Munich (6th) and PSG (7th). This might explain why our expectations should be higher than Villa (22nd), Newcastle (19th) or Everton (not even in the Top 30).
We should be doing better! |

By:
Oops, Barcelona should read 3rd

|
By:
Should be delighted to win second tier euro trophy, but disregard one when talking about newcastle
Is about the most spursy thing a tottinham fan could do. |
|
By:
Most Spurs' fans are delighted for the Toon. From my perspective, it is just the beginning. Newcastle are on the up and I would not be at all surprised if they too nick a European trophy in the not-too-distant future, in addition to another domestic cup, or more. Sofa's comments should be water off a ducks back. Your journey is in its infancy (imo)

By:
Most football fans would agree about
winning anything and cherishing it. Supporting our clubs comes with pitfalls and anguish far more than celebration. Of course there is option to support some other team elsewhere in the country or Europe but it's in the blood to stick with them through thick and thin |
|
By:
Sofa, you have previously declared that you do not consider winning the Cup Winners Cup as a bona fide trophy success and yet here you are celebrating winning the Europa League, a second tier trophy. Contradiction, much ?
And you've got to be kidding about other teams not getting stick for failing to win trophies in the recent past, i wish i had a quid for every time i've been "reminded" about EFC's last trophy win being in 1995. Football started long before the EPL and each team have their history which cannot be denied, look in the book as they say. Liverpool first won the league in 1901 and that triumph counts exactly the same as last year's EPL win in the record books, that is why each trophy success is "relevant". |

The CWC was discontinued decades ago and it was very much a third-tier European trophy back in the day (the equivalent to the Europey Conference league today). I've hardly ever heard of anyone mocking Everton, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham etc for their lack of trophies despite them all having far longer trophy droughts than Spurs. Meanwhile Spurs have been relentlessly mocked over the last decade for apparently being "Spursy".
