Last time I saw Sweden against Holland. The Dutch kicked them off the pitch. It was brutal. Interestingly, the Dutch coach is now in charge of England, who are a bit rough themselves.

This one could be Unders, as they are fairly well-matched.

Both of these teams leagues above England

They are actually passing and moving. Sweden just need help in the final 1/3 to make it 1-0

not sure Lifter...we humped the Dutch the other day all be it a friendly...

I worded that so wrong lol I mean in terms of footballing ability/good to watch. You're right, but I reckon they are more closely matched than it appears on that result alone. I expect Sweden to play England off the park, although England could bully them

reasonable game anyway - first matchup of meaningful teams...Dutch playing some nice stuff at times but not enough end product -  Swedes look less 'pretty' but maybe more effective

Sweden have 2 or 3 very good players, but overall quite pedestrian, imo. I don't think France or Germany or even England would be afraid of them. Holland are quite weak.

poor effort from the keeper

Just rewatched the highlights of the England V Dutch game... Dutch pen miss, England cross that went in by accident, 2 huge goalkeeping blunders for England goals. Was quite an even game. Could see it go either way if they play again.

I don't think either of these teams are likely Tournament winners, tbh.

Really disappointing 2nd half for Sweden. I May have to scratch them out after this

Holland have been much improved 2nd half. Maybe a draw just about right.

yep, fair result ...both virtually guaranteed QF's ...not as impressive as Spain or Germany but clearly playing against meaningful opposition unlike the first two...

I like the womens' tourneys. There's money to be made, if you watch all the games, you can see through the hype. And if it's live on BBC, that's as close to real-time as you're likely to get. and it gives you a bit of an edge.

yep, perfectly reasonable stuff...come on massively since professionalism and some of the key European countries taking it seriously..

don't really ever debate the respective strengths of it to mens game - don't see the point.....tennis is probably the lowest progression of any sport in the female arena despite early professionalism  but sells millions in advertising

it's on a massive upcurve (football) ...long may it continue for me...and each to their own as ever..

I wasn't impressed with either team last night. both teams lack firepower, especially Sweden, they were relying on individual brilliance. Holland have more potential but lack strength in depth of other teams.

England's 5-1 over the netherlands was a bit lucky. Holland had a penalty to go 2-1 up, then England fluked their opening goal, plus at least one worldie, flattered them a bit, and it was just a friendly. This Dutch team looks past its peak to me.

I think England are massively overrated, very much like the men's team. as i said above they will be hard to beat but i'm not having them as winners of this thing. despite home advantage

France play Italy this evening, I think we'll have a decent look at who the best team is after that one. I'm still with the sausage munchers unless  France really impress me

Under looks good in this Iceland - belgium game. Not enough quality on the pitch for goals, imo.

I thought Germany looked very good last night: quick, dynamic, loads of options, experienced, good team spirit. Best team we've seen so far, albeit only half the teams have played. France apparently have internal issues, the coach isn't liked, she's dropped a lot of players, it sounds a bit like the Domenech situation which didn't go great for the men's team... Still, they will have quality in their ranks. But at tournament level, where the teams are very close, it's fine margins, and coach situation makes a big difference, team spirit etc. Spain looked great in possession, bossed the game, but Finland were rank bad, Germany you feel would have put 6 or 7 past them. The Putellas injury actually could galvanise the team, they now have even more to play for. Good technically, very good in possession, will be hard to beat although they did look vulnerable defensively at times vs. Finland. and do they have the same depth as Germany/France? Probably not, i'd say they're a bad favourite. England will be very hard to beat, but for me lack dynamism. Team spirit is extremely good, players like the coach, that helps. They have some quality in reserve but comparing them to Germany, I think they fall short in most departments. But we'll see

some good points made above by betting masta. I didn't realise that Henry and Sommelier had been left at home, tbh. That seems a strange decision by the France coach, tbh. Maybe France won't be as strong as i thought.

I enjoy it well enough. It's no more boring than watching Southgate's mob playing glorified friendlies. And better than F1 and other tripe on main channels at this time of year.

I'm thinking 2-1 for France here, although I can't resist a trade on 0-0.
