Agree about Cocu, he is waiting to be dismissed by Derby.
Problem for Derby is they can’t afford to terminate his contract with no cash flow, gardening leave? |
|
By:
Probably only way, Dav
He's looked completely disinterested since he got there, his teams play like his personality which is dull and boring But tut, 4 year contract and can't afford to pay him off so their kinda stuck with him |
|
By:
Their stats are appalling again
9 dangerous attacks (at HOME), zero shots on target 2 off target, no danger to Preston whatsoever in that first half Can only think Morris hasn't the money to sack him and his staff, because if its based on performances he should be gone with his tail between his legs |
|
By:
They've barely been in Prestons half at home in 45 minutes of football
![]() I'd be facking livid if I was the owner ![]() |
|
By:
This is a cup game but this is like 5 games in a row where they've not created anything, I just find that hard to believe
Professional footballers, with a coaching staff paid massive money, Rooney getting big money as well, can't get a group of professional football players to create one single shot on target in 360 minutes of football.... I'm baffled by it |
|
By:
1-0 Derby
![]() ![]() Preston must have to be totally s**te that's all I'm saying ![]() |
|
By:
1-2 Preston
The refereeing in these leagues is beyond disgusting has to be said ![]() Ref sends Derby player off for being last man, only gives Preston player yellow despite being last man, and to top it all off gives PNE a penalty for a ball to the face (gives handball) after protests from PNE players.... ERRRRR if you didn't see it ref how can you give it??? facking hell fire man seriously Its comedy hour in this league with the officiating |
|
By:
I've just seen the replay and if I was their lads I'd be giving the ref a right fooking hiding in his office after the game
Its beyond a joke the officiating in this country to be honest not just EFL but that is just... no words for it |
|
By:
Terrible referee decisions, how has he given that as a handball?
As stated earlier, Cochran is on leaving Derby if he has had enough (unlikely on that wage and length of contract) or he dies (can afford BUPA on that wage and length of contract). How much of a mug is the Derby owner to be handing out 4 year deals to nrpoven (outside of a major club in Holland) managers? I like how Cocu has been busy on Wikipedia deleting the commentary about his time as manager of Fenerbache; his write up jumps from PSV to Derby. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Cocu |

A lot is made of his time at PSV but if he was any good he'd be at Man City not Derby
There's a reason no big will touch him |
|
By:
One could argue Cocu inherited his PSV team that won the league in 2014-15.
However, to then win it again 2015-16 was an impressive achievement, likewise 2017-18. Which makes what happened in Turkey seem a blip "The team manager Phillip Cocu has been relieved of his job this evening," Fenerbahce announced in a statement. The 47-year-old leaves with the team having mustered only nine points from 10 games. Still doesn’t explain why Derby would handout a 4 year golden contract? |
|
By:
fenerbahce were never going to be patient with him building a young team though, to be fair he likes to do that he likes youth over ready made talent, likes to build a team in his image, but his football is slow and horrible and not suited to this league anyway

I'd laugh at Derby but their luck under Mad Mel is quite sad, since he took over the club they've lost a PO final in the 90th minute (5 days after taking over), lost their marquee signing during that summer to an ACL, then lost Hughes and Bryson first game of the season, then were top and lost their talisman and main midfielder before collapsing in a heap. Then lost their main DM (Thorne) to a broken leg right before the Play Offs which they lost to Hull City. Since then they've lost their marquee signing for the season within a month of signing to an ACL last season (Bielik), and this season they've lost their marquee signing to an ACL in his first game for the club after the club spent 9 months trying to sign him... If I were Derby I'd want the facking jonah out of there

Watched the game today and have to say Derby were far better than us 2nd half although we had much the best of the 1st half except for the first five to ten mins.
Still, onwards and upwards - we've only lost 1 of the last 14 games. ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh...and my son texted me this morning to say that over the next 8 days we play Derby, Man Utd and Watford and that in 2012 we also had three games over these same 8 days....Barrow, Skelmersdale and Telford! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
By:
You've done well under Jones, he's your Eddie Howe I think
Stoke to win here my bet |
|
By:
Top 6 after 2 games
1 Reading 2 Bristol City 3 Luton 4 Bournemouth 5 Norwich 6 Birmingham See how this changes over the season |
|
By:
3/9 so far on the old bets
|
|
By:
Bottom 6 after 2 games
19 Derby 20 Barnsley 21 Huddersfield 22 Forest ( )23 Wycombe 24 Sheff Weds (albeit they've picked up 4 points so far but started with a -12 deduction) |
|
By:
We've got Birmingham in the play-offs
....lost to them twice last season!![]() |
|
By:
I'm sure it'll change as the season progresses but you've started well, hatter
We're live tomorrow night and we've made a couple more good signings (Mckenna from Aberdeen centre back who we needed) and Arter from Bournemouth who is decent at this level |
|
By:
Always thought Arter was decent and should have got more gametime at Cherries.
Dunno anything about McKenna but I see he's only 23yo so potentially a good call from your boys. |
|
By:
Great thread. Got a very small interest in Watford and Swansea win tomorrow. This is purely as because I believe Watford will be there about for promotion and Wycombe I feel are nailed on to be relegated.
The only problem is football is so unpredictable. ![]() |
|
By:
Tonights game is not a must win like most of our fans are saying, we've literally brought in 13 players and offloaded 10 or 11 so its going to take time to get them gelled
![]() we've had a pretty big overhaul and that sort of overhaul means patience I'll side with us getting of the mark tonight, so away win and may jump in to over should an early goal go in Madhatter, he's a big no nonsense centre back its what we needed so happy about this signing from a fan perspective, all these fancy dan continental defenders haven't really lit up this league ever Bigmo, its a great league for the nautral, can beat top of the league 3-0 one week and lose to the bottom of the league by the same score the next, crazy league |
|
By:
I flipped through the Post earlier and report was all about 'Toothless Terriers.' If I was Town's Manager, I would be posting this up on the dressing room notice board, I can't think of a better motivator.
Maybe lightening won't strike again, but I remember quite a few years back, a similar Post article stated 'Toothless Lions'. Result, Millwall mauled their Div 1 opponents 4-0. |
|
By:
Huddersfield do have some decent championship players, that Pritchard I've always rated at this level
|
|
By:
Arter could have had his leg broken there, awful challenge the punishment?? not even a facking card
![]() Championship refs are from the circus ffs, he'll book someone in a minute for a shirt pull in the box no doubt |
