Ok, give me your combined City/Utd team
By:
I could do that , let’s start with the goalkeeper
By:
Happily give you that one.
Now, on to the back 4... |
By:
ok who are they , is it smalling , rojo...
jones walker , ? Prefer Utd players there as well |
By:
sorry meant stones ,
By:
He’s not very good now is he , so any Utd defender before him
By:
I think Utd are a little weaker in midfield , but not by much
They still have pogba and mata linguard Matic ... city silva , de brune ...perhaps Delph or is he left bank He’s useless anyway |
By:
Forwards
Augero of course , nothing more needs to be said But then again Utd do have Sanchez , one of the best players ever to play in the premier league Sterling ? Shouldn’t even be playing professional football |
By:
So you'd leave out Kompany, Stones, Laporte and Mendy for Rojo, Smalling and Jones.
Ok then. On to the midfield then. Presuming we're going 4-3-3 or similar as both teams play that way. I'll list all the candidates for you to choose from. Utd: Pogba, Lingaard, Fred, Herrera, Fellaini, Matic, McTominay City: Gundogan, De Bruyne, Delph, B Silva, D Silva, Fernandinho |
By:
Have you seen Sanchez play in a Utd shirt? I mean, Le Tissier's one of the best ever players but I wouldn't have him in my current line up.

By:
Attackers then:
Utd: Lukaku, Rashford, Sanchez, Martial City: Aguero, Sterling, Sané, Mahrez. Gabriel Jesus Should be enough here to give me your eleven. |
By:
Forgot Mata.
As if it matters. |
By:
Martial is a far superior player to sterling as just one more example of Utd players being better then cities
By:
..........De Gea...........................
Walker...Smalling...Stones....Shaw........ ..............Matic........................ ..De Bruyne..Pogba....D.Silva....Martial... .............Aguero........................ |
By:
Sane is the stand alone player , no one in England as good as him
By:
I like Martial to be fair. On any available form over the last two years though, he's got to be behind both Sterling and Sané. Lad's got potential though.
By:
You haven’t even picked the best player pp : (
That’s Sane |
By:
?
I haven't picked my team yet. |
By:
Sorry that was sh
By:
De Gea
Walker - Kompany - Laporte - Mendy Fernandinho De Bruyne - D Silva Sané - Sterling Aguero Bench: Ederson Valencia Stones B Silva Pogba Martial Gabriel Jesus |
By:
De Gea
Valencia Smalling Kompany Shaw Matic Martial Pogba De Brune/ Silva Mane Aguero ( Sanchez) |
By:
Sorry Mane on the left should of course be Sane
By:
Kompany is not good enough these days to make the City first team, Mendy is a sicknote and shouldn't really be in anyone's team, Pogba has to be in the team, outside of being managed by Mourinho he is a top player for France and was for Juve, don't really see what Sane's done at all.
By:
Yes agree about kompany , included him because he was so outstanding previously
By:
themover’s listening in again : )
By:
Let me put it like this themover , if Martial was told he could only use his left foot to play ( he’s right footed )
he would still be a better player than sterling |
By:
Martial has done nothing that would get him in a combined team ahead of Sterling
By:
City are probably the best of the top 5 or 6 teams , but really it’s marginal very very fine margins
By:
Are they the best player for player ?
I’m not sure , I think maybe not |
By:
SH - just don't get it with Pogba. Was very good for Juventus but then they had a specific framework which suited him. Best back 5 in the world, Pirlo pulling the strings, Marchisio or Khedira doing the donkey work. He had very little to do defensively or tactically so could play his own game. Did very well to be fair, but since then when he's been tried to fit in a team he's struggled.
As for France, his performances in the World Cup have been massively over-hyped. Played pretty well, nothing more. |
By:
I thought pogba had a very good World Cup
By:
He’s an all round good player really and should dominate most games from mid field ( doesn’t always do so )
By:
I think he was fair. But this is brand Pogba, where he has a new haircut for every interview and so is very high profile. He didn't actually do that much though.
By:
Didn’t France bear Belgium , with de brune in midfield ?
By:
Semi finals , most important game
By:
He played well in the final also , when it matters
By:
When Pogba has been left to his own devices he is an excellent, creative midfielder with very good passing ability that makes and sees passes not many others do or can
Juventus were very technical and tactical and he fitted in, but the reason why he hasn't under Mourinho is not because he is not a team player but because Jose just like he did with Eden Hazard, tried to square a circle when it didn't need reshaping, he for a long time tried to play Pogba as deep as Matic and defend and run back more closing players down, that is not and will never be Pogba, something will give this season, either Pogba or Jose leaves, no way both stay next season. Pogba needs a manager who let's him have freedom the same way Conte and Allegri did. Jose is just an old school manager who because he never played the game doesn't seem to understand if you force creative players to do to much defensive work it takes away from what they're best at. They are not suited at all. |
By:
But he has to be left to his own devices. In and around his own box he is an utter liability. He is regularly picked on by opposing teams as the weak link because he switches off so often. He can pick a pass but should be doing it far more frequently than he's shown.
No doubt the lad's got ability and, if managed by someone else, could well be a great player. But, on any form - league, European, or international - I can't possibly see what he's done to get ahead of Fernandhinho, De Bruyne or David Silva. It's not even close. |
