What a free kick from Tavernier. As good as you'll ever see.
17 goals and before you mention penalties he has had more goals from open play than Edouard and Christie combined. Surely the standout for player of the year even at this early stage. |
|
By:
Tavernier is our best player. (IMHO) The problem is I don't know how long he has left in his contract. Other big clubs are bound to be sniffing about. If I was Gerrard I would go to the board asking to double his wages and get him on a minimum four year extension.
|
|
By:
Tav is contracted to Rangers until May 31st 2022.
He is 29yo and Rangers will probably offer him an extended contact in May next year. |

Royal Antwerp v Rangers
Good draw and Rangers will be odds on to qualify. |
|
By:
Bye into the next round. 2/7 to Qualify.
|
|
By:
Yes the draw was kind to us Mac.
They are in joint 7th place in their league along with Standard Liege with 25 points after 16 games. |
|
By:
Hope we can qualify into the last 16 and get an interesting draw. Four English clubs left. I wouldn't mind having a crack at any of them while we are on blistering form. Who knows, perhaps we could meet an English side in the quarters.
|
|
By:
I watch quite a bit of Belgian league football and I would say that Standard Liege are a much better side than Antwerp and I can`t see Rangers having much problems with them, but you just never know for sure. They need a good run to keep Scotland`s current UEFA proficiency mark, which gives us two Champions League places next season but Czechs are creeping up on us.

Morelos out for the next two games after a stupid elbow job. Yes we can score goals from all over but the way things are going we cannot depend on Defoe for the answer. Perhaps Gerrard will be eyeing up a new striker because in the last six games we have won most of the goals have come from midfield.
Personally I would take 10 million (or less?) for Morelos and invest in someone who is a true centre forward and can take advantage of all the chances we are creating. And make no mistake we are creating chances but you need someone to tuck them away. |
|
By:
Morelos was due to be dropped given his latest performance so will be no great miss.
|
|
By:
As regards the goal scorers this is from our last 6 games - 16 goals scored;
Tavernier 4 (inc. 1 pen.) Roofe 2 Arfield 2 Goldson 2 Defoe 1 Barisic 1 Bassey 1 Ittin 1 Hagi 1 Bassey 1 OGs 1 |
|
By:
Roofe and Ittin both strikers who are settling nicely into the team so I doubt that SG at this time will be getting worried given that the goals are still coming.
We've scored 71 goals this season in 27 games. 43 in 17 league games 24 in 9 european games 4 in 1 league cup tie. I would imagine those stats stand up against any other team in Europe. I can't see what your issue is Stew. |
|
By:
It's not so much an issue aka. My main point is that if we had a top class striker who knew where the back of the net was that 71 goals could easily read 85 imo. Thanks for the stats btw.
|
|
By:
Roofe and Ittin need time. I remember when Mark Hateley first signed, took quite a time to settle in.
|
|
By:
*Or I could put it another way...
Tavernier 4 (inc. 1 pen.) Roofe 2 Arfield 2 Goldson 2 Defoe 1 Barisic 1 Bassey 1 Ittin 1 Hagi 1 Bassey 1 OGs 1 No Morelos in that list. With a bit of luck he might break his duck against Celtic. Christ, we've waited long enough. |

These are the stats from the past 8 games. 928 goals)
Tavernier 7 (inc. 3 pens.) Roofe 4 Arfield 4 Goldson 2 Defoe 1 Barisic 2 Ittin 1 Hagi 1 Bassey 1 Barker 1 Aribo 1 Kent 1 OGs 1 Some return from Tavernier. |

By:
928 goals)
Obviously a typo but regardless it makes the stats even more disappointing for Morelos. |
|
By:
Yes the 9 should have been (.

Gerrard respecting the Saints, old habits die hard

Moreles costs the club dearly again.
|
|
By:
We had to lose at some time and I'd rather it was here than in the league.
Congrats to St Mirren responding well to the Rangers late equaliser albeit the goal scorer was offside when the ball was played in. Still a big disappointment though and SG needs to make sure we bounce back and beat Motherwell convincingly on Saturday. |
|
By:
Been watching the Liverpool game so came on to get aka`s match report. None which is odd. Then it crossed my mind, surely they didn`t get beat by St Mirren? Just checked teletext

That`s worse than getting beat by Ross County

LOL par and joeybhoy come out from behind the couch.
Nowt to say about their own team. It's all about the Rangers. ![]() |
|
By:
Two goals in 90+, wow. Buddies must have been 1000 to win it late.
|
|
By:
I had them on my acca 2/7 but took them out at last minute thinking Stevie might rest a few. Glad I did, other 4 won.

I doubt that Mac. Aren't Ross County bottom? Anyways who cares. Just as joeybhoy said after that Ross County game "We can concentrate on the league now". Every cloud and all that. ![]() |

Akabula, seasonal greetings. Would I be wrong in saying he has cost him team again ?

By:
I got lucky with a late goal by Pool.

Seasonal Greeting Par.
Morelos was dreadful last time out and contributed very little and as I said earlier on here was due to be dropped. A bit like your guy Edouard he seems to have thrown in the towel and doesn't want to be here. We've done okay despite his poor performances and I doubt he'd have made any difference tonight in his current state of mind. |
