If I interviewed any manager I'd ask what his formation would be.....4-2-3-1 and he is shown the door.

Its a pure tell the manager has not put any effort in and is copying the latest fad.

Great managers initially flex the system to suit the players not the other way around.

Hes not a popular example but when Redknapp took over at Spurs, he worked with what he had, rubbed the players bellys, played to suit them. This bought him time which he then used over a number of transfer windows to move things forward.

A woeful performance at best.

Thiaw and Botman need replaced.

Gonzalez needs to offer more going forward, though perhaps its not his fault, we need three in midfield.

Its not the current players fault that, Trippier, Bruno, Tonali and Gordon were not replaced like for like, quality for quality.

Only two of yesterdays starters were brought in by this manager.

We need to accept that this squad is not as good as last seasons squad.

The manager needs to accept that the formations needs to change as most of us agree, certainly me and Trackman have been saying this for a while.

Or are we being too impatient? Amorim is doing quite well at Milan atm.

I don't think it is too impatient, no. It is rather frustrating that most if not all can see what the problems are but he seems reluctant to address this or refuses to do so.
Am I the only one that thinks he comes across quite arrogant when questioned on the team selection, formation, performance ?

Agree with Trackers; he does come across as quite arrogant; possibly the accent of ze germans doesn't help; if he starts to get the results he can be as arrogant as he wants Mischief

Very interesting reading all you lads thoughts and insights into our current form.I agree with most points and cant argue even against the things i dont really agree with.My thoughts are we have to be patient, bite our tongue and let the lad find the right balance and players to get the wins we all want.A new spine down the middle with big strong players would be a start in the winter window.I do think we arent getting the bounce of the ball at the minute but thats not an excuse. As for the tackles, both good ones for me,both got the ball. The mid day game 2 players did the same if not worse and commentators saying how good it was to see proper tackles being allowed.Funny old game.

Three of Newcastle United's Premier League fixtures in December have been rescheduled after being selected for live television coverage.

The Magpies' visit of Manchester United will remain on Wednesday, 2nd December but the game will now kick-off at 8:15pm (GMT) instead of 8pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Newcastle were due to host Sunderland on Saturday, 5th December but the 160th Tyne-Wear derby will now take place on Sunday, 6th December, with kick-off at St. James' Park set for 2pm (GMT).

United's final away game of 2026, away at Brentford, will still take place on Saturday, 19th December but the clash at the Gtech Community Stadium will now kick-off at 12:30pm (GMT) instead of 3pm. The game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

Any further alterations to the Magpies' fixture schedule will be communicated on newcastleunited.com at the earliest opportunity.

A nice sunny day here in South East London and a good game ahead to look forward to.

My Geordie cousin has come down for the match, he's from Killingworth, and he knows not to start jumping around if ( or more a case of when !) Newcastle score as we're in the main stand with all Palace fans.

You'd think there will be goals and overs is priced accordingly @ 1.62.

I've done 1-1 & 2-2 for an interest.
Newcastle always have a good and noisy away support so a great atmosphere guaranteed.

Matthias Jaissle has made five changes to his Newcastle United line-up for Sunday's Premier League game at Crystal Palace (kick-off 2pm GMT).

The Magpies head coach has shuffled his pack, bringing Dan Burn and Fabian Schär into the side for their first league starts of the season as part of a reorganised back four, with Amar Dedić also back in the side.

Jacob Murphy is also in the line-up at Selhurst Park, with Will Osula in from the outset for the first time since he hobbled off on the opening day of the campaign against Liverpool.

That means Sven Botman, Malick Thiaw and Yoane Wissa revert to the bench, with Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley not part of the squad for the clash with the Eagles.

Lukáš Horníček is in goal, with Lewis Hall retaining his place at left back, with skipper Burn, Schär and Dedić alongside him.

Nico González partners Joelinton in the middle of the park, with Joe Willock in an advanced role and Murphy and Harvey Barnes on the flanks while Osula leads the line.

Anthony Elanga will hope to make a first appearance since early September having been named on the bench after recovering from injury, with Jacob Ramsey also back in the squad.

Nick Pope, Aladji Bamba, Sean Steur and Bazoumana Touré are also among the substitutes.

Newcastle United: Lukáš Horníček, Lewis Hall, Fabian Schär, Nico González, Joelinton, Will Osula, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Dan Burn (c), Amar Dedić

Substitutes: Nick Pope, Sven Botman, Aladji Bamba, Yoane Wissa, Malick Thiaw, Sean Steur, Bazoumana Touré, Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey

Two poor attacking teams.

Dedic and Murphy dont work well together, Murphy and Osula have been anonymous, more needed from both of them in the second half.
