Arteta really doesn't have a clue what to do. Seems to be able to motivate players and send out a reasonable starting eleven. But like a rabbit frozen in car headlights when things start going wonky in a match. Unable to make any decisions to change the course of match once it's underway.
Arsenal have managed to lower expectations of fans that nobody even bothered to come on here whinging about last nights sh1tty performance. |

I froze over there last night, and it was the same old same old, we start well but as soon as we concede our heads drop and you can see the confidence drain away yet again, its happened in 3 of the last 4 games again. Against City, we were all over them, but as soon as City scored, you knew only one team was going to win.
Against Forest was the same and again last night. Its a mental habit we need to get out of very quickly |

I thought Ramsdale was poor for both goals. Partey should never have played but the 3 in midfield were awful and playing it sideways and backwards most of the second half when we needed a goal. Might have been smart to have a gameplan to stop Trent and that's not aftertiming. A lot of flat performances all round. Players look jaded even though they've only 1 game a week. Missing Partey and Xhaka for Burnley now but players will get a good rest after that. A decent signing needed to freshen things up a little.

We are in desperate need of a decent striker

By:
How about Harry K, Dambo?
|

By:
Apparently no evidence of wrongdoing by Arsenal or any players in the Xhaka yellow card investigation. Was really hoping for a 10 year ban
|
|
By:
News is getting worse though as apparently Arteta getting a new 2 year deal to keep him at Arsenal to 2025. |
|
By:
I was hoping Everton would be interested in Arteta.
They bought Walcott & Iwobi, so you never know. |
|
By:
I see the media are spinning it that they want to tie him down in case City come looking for him

30 minutes played AFC 80% possesion. In play 4/9 atm . Seems a good bet for the home win
|
|
By:
75% possession
12 corners 20 shots/5 on target 360mins+ without scored goal Playing at home in front of home crowd and still can`t score to the worst team in the league let alone win the match but considering top 4 as a real possibility lol :D |

OK I'm a THFC fan and I'm sort-of enjoying it but sport is nothing without rivalry, sheesh, how much longer will they hold onto Arteta for??
|
|
By:
Like it`s Arteta`s fault and not the overpaid useless trash players that playing in Arsenal`s jersey. If Mourinho,Pep,Klopp and Tuchel would be the coach of Arsenal at the same time they would be the same sh.t. Arteta is not the greatest but this squad worth absolutely nothing. Zero motivation, zero intention to improve but full salary. Just look at their body language
|
|
By:
And all honestly who would be that stupid to take over a coaching position from Arteta to coach a banter fc? I mean tell me one better coach than Arteta who would be happy to coach Arsenal at the moment.
|
|
By:
Ok x90 but tell me how THFC are any better squad-wise. A bunch of over-paid wannabes, has-beens and never-will-be's
Difference atm right now imho is a manager with a big history of success and a big desire for more. Conte isn't learning on the job. Anyways, if we get anything at Stamford Bridge this evening I'll be delighted As the old saying goes, I hate* Arsenal bcos I'm a Spurs fan. I hate* Chelsea bcos I'm a human being. *hate in the recreational sense of the word o'course |
|
By:
Sorry to say but Spurs as a club was always "a bunch of over-paid wannabes, has-beens and never-will-be's". Sometimes they had a good run and that`s it. Spurs never had title winning DNA in their blood at all, never tasted real success so it`s a bad comparison. People that expecting Spurs to win anything just delusional, you can not expect to win from a historically loser team. On other hand Arsenal is even worse in the last few years but they are still Arsenal and yet they have a bunch of over-paid wannabes, has-beens and never-will-be's.
My point is that you can change the coach in both teams 100x if you want but none of them will achieve anything. Spurs won`t because they never did, Arsenal won`t because they have sh.t and not motivated players. So there is no situation when you can say changing a coach is the solution. |

'Arteta is not the greatest' but Pep Klopp and Tuchel wouldn't do any better with this squad? A)Yes they would and B) after 2 years in the job they'd have a much better squad. They wouldn't have signed Auba on 350k a week if they wanted to play a false 9 and turn him into a left winger. Wouldn't have signed a CH for £50m when you have one on loan in France who cost £30m. Would have bought a striker who fit their system as a priority with all that money saved.
Lumping crosses into the box all day today. No change up. The manager is devoid of ideas in attack. Pep, Klopp and Tuchel aren't. It doesn't look like Arsenal work on their attack in training much. It looks like City and Liverpool do it all week. |
|
By:
I talked about a current squad and not IF wouldn`t have signed and IF they would signed. None of them would do nothing better with the current squad. This is what you all said about Ole, and yet we have a worse MU than under Ole ever.
Coaches aren`t magicians unless they get enough money and the right players. You miss the point that nobody would go play for Arsenal all of a sudden just because Klopp or Pep the coach. They would have to deal with the same budget and the same squad. After few years, yes, players would come but not right now just because you changed the coach. I would love people to understand the business side of football. If Pep would coach Newcastle,do you think players would join?Don`t be a joker :D Coach isn`t enough alone and managing a garbage squad like Arsenal at the moment is bad for everyone. Actually say thank you to Arteta for his sacrifice because no other coach takes Arsenal and would deal with the hate he gets since years now. |
|
By:
A top manager would not be persisting with Lacazette as a false 9 when he had Aubameyang as an out and out 9. The only thing that has been top level at Arsenal since 2018 was Aubameyang scoring at the same rate as Kane, Aguero, Salah, Mane with a better conversion rate. Until Arteta came along and changed it.
No top manager would have done that. They'd either have offloaded Auba and signed a striker to fit their system or else kept it as it was. Why change it if it is (the only thing) working? Arteta hasn't signed a striker in 2 years. He has almost exclusively signed defenders. Stop waffling. |
|
By:
Do one or the other. But 100% don't sign a striker who doesn't fit your system on 350k a week and then stick him out on the left wing and ask him to track back and play in your own half most of the game.
|
|
By:
But who told you that any top manager would coach Arsenal? Nobody takes Arsenal who has a little brain in their skull.
Arteta put Arsenal in the position where they had/have a real chance for top 4, last year it wasn`t even on the table so the improvement speak for itself. There is no waffling. Numbers are speaking for themselves. You live in a delusion. You say other coaches would have signed this and that. NO, absolutely no, because no quality player would have signed for a dying Arsenal. What hell are you talking about but for real? You really think that Arsenal is tempting and attractive to anyone that have better options? Arsenal at the moment is a bunch of passengers of the game. Players are there for money because they have no better options,no other clubs taking them because they are not good enough. It is that simple. And then you have Arteta who has to coach them somehow... |
|
By:
but anyways Arteta will be fired for sure and next season when Arsenal will be still struggling under the new coach then we can talk about againg, just like MU and Ole`s situation. Everybody was so smart and said "ole out" and yet MU is lucky if they can get top 4 while last year it wasn`t even at risk under Ole. The new coach got the same team + a Ronaldo and struggling. Blaming the coach instead of the players is easy.

Arteta is in Colorado meeting Kroenke. Was spotted at an ice hockey game with him last night

A couple of recruits and you’d think we’d still have a slim chance of Top 4. Still bereft in midfield and up top.
You do wonder why they’ve spent weeks chasing a striker who clearly never had any intention of playing in the Premiership. Baffling. |
|
By:
A strange window so far. Lots of moving on, nothing coming in. Looks like Auba might go on loan, no doubt with us paying a portion of his hefty salary. Woefully light in midfield, some of that self-inflicted by indiscipline. Eddie may also leave. Arteta can’t be happy with the ‘support’ he’s getting from the recruitment team given that we are a couple of poor results away from things turning very sour. Seems like they put a lot of eggs in one basket for a player who it was clear only ever wanted to go to Juventus. And we have to get someone in midfield who doesn’t get sent off every few games.
With the salary savings the owners have made, you’d think they’d sanction at least one move to at least show there’s a minimal level of ambition at the club. I know we’re third favourites for that much coveted 4th spot, but as it stands, we still have a chance. Must be worth just a bit of a punt…. |

what happened to the 'we care do you?' protests from around 18 months ago
because surely we are in a worse position now? season over in january talk of progress since late wenger and emery but i cant see that at all at least under those two we played some football positives are the kids like saka and smith rowe but they were coming through anyway, and if anything emery brought those though ive seen people say we should be happy with 6th this season but come on, this is arsenal ffs when are we going to wake up from this 15 year coma |

Owners are soft in the head. Ozil and now Aubameyang huge losses, just the latest been going on for years. Ramsey, Sanchez, Van Persie, Fabregas all sold cheap. And these buys bordering on ridiculous, Guendouzi 7m, Saliba 27m and Willian, Lichtsteiner, Suarez just embarrassing.
Need to be young person to have any chance of Arsenal being successful again in your lifetime. |
|
By:
Some of the fanbase are already spinning Auba leaving as saving the club £25m. I saw one even said it's like getting a £25m fee for him.
Don't think the buys of Guendouzi and Saliba were ridiculous. What is ridiculous is the banishing of valuable players and rendering them almost worthless to the club and that is all on the manager. Guendouzi is on a mandatory buy of £9m, so we will make a profit on him regardless but he is worth a lot more than that after not even a full season in France. Saliba is also looking like he will be worth the money over there. He might come back into the fold but I doubt it. I can see him being sold for more than £27m in the future but not by us. Auba should never have been signed on that money to play left side or false 9. He was never going to fit Arteta's system and was never going to have a transfer value on those wages given his age. Should have let him go and replaced him. Ozil shouldn't have been signed on that money either when he hadn't justified it on the pitch and we were way off top 4 and was a similar age. They are primarily footballing decisions. That is not on the owners. The owners made big funds available to the manager in the summer after zero gate receipts and the loss of euro money. They didn't have to do that and it would have been understandable if they'd tightened the purse strings. Arteta let AMN go on loan while Elneny and Partey were going to AFCON. We go into a battle for 4th with Laca and Nketiah as our options up top. The manager has spent almost exclusively on defensive players since he joined, while banishing Ozil, Pepe and Auba and not signing any strikers in 2 years. |
|
By:
has to be deliberate sabotage , no business can be run into the ground like this
|
|
By:
Laca and Nketiah are both free agents in the summer too! The guy has no track record of buying attackers apart from Willian! What striker in their right mind is going to want to play for him? I fear he is going to offer Laca a bumper deal similar to Ozil/Auba to stay. I didn't have an issue with Auba getting a bumper deal as I thought he'd earned it and he'd always scored at a phenomenal rate up to then. But he must have been given some assurances to stay as he was stalling and Barca were interested. He has looked depressed on the pitch ever since and that was long before any disciplinary issues.
What was the purpose of going to Colorado last week to meet Kroenke? To sign that guy from Colorado Rapids? |
|
By:
A good post lurka.
The owners need to comw over and sort out management of the club once they've watched the Superbowl. Arsenal are being mismanaged atm. The amount of money spent over the summer to end up with only two recognised forwards at this stage of the season and both now able to leave for free in the summer... Season pretty much over for us and looking at our remaining fixtures 7th/8th most likely finishing position. From a betting point of view in the remaining fixtures. Laying Arsenal not to win against Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs & West Ham should be profitable. |
|
By:
He sent his son over a couple of years ago but that was only for a summer and to appease the fanbase. What is most annoying is that they could spend less money and generate higher revenues by being more successful on the pitch if the club were run anywhere near well. They are that clueless and removed that they can't even see that?
Over the last 5 years they must have the worst return on spending in terms of transfer fees/sales and wages in the league and I don't think there is anyone telling them that. They are not averse to having the club run well, that makes no sense on any level, but it's clearly not their priority. The fanbase is a problem. A large chunk of them celebrate mediocrity and are actually positive about us declining year on year, actually saying that we are improving? If that wasn't the case perhaps the owners would take more notice. No fans in the stadium for most of Arteta's tenure has a lot to do with it too. Doesn't look like he'll be leaving this summer but certainly looks like we'll have a bigger mess to deal with after he's gone. It's worrying to think what he'll do with more money to spend. A disastrous finish to the season might be the best thing to happen. |
|
By:
Arteta is a failed experiment.
If he was going to be a success at AFC we'd have seen some glimpses of it by now. We're miles off the top 3. |
|
By:
ffs Arsenal paid out 7m to get rid of Aubameyang, leaving them with only two recognised forwards until the end of the season when they can bugger off as free agents. The biggest spenders in the Premier League 20/21 close season, the club is run by morons.

By:
They are going to back him big again in the summer to get a new striker and he still has no track record of signing strikers. I doubt many top stikers will want to play for him. He will either get someone young or someone from a lesser club who is getting a bumper pay rise to join and it likely won't be a prolific goalscorer, certainly not after he joins anyway. At what point do they look at the spend, payoffs, 8th place finishes and loss of euro revenues and ask 'are we getting value for money here?' Hopefully before the end of this season but I doubt it.
The manager's ego and decisions appear to be costing the club tens of millions in devaluation of players, waste of wages and payoffs. He is going to completely surround himself with a squad of young players and yes men. Any winners and leaders will be stripped out of the club, not that we had many. Everyone must accept mediocrity and bland football or else. |
|
By:
Mediocrity if we were still at Highbury would at least be bearable.

Hopefully the fact he didn't spend any money is because he's on his way out.
If we don't make top 4 or capitulate like we have on many occasions in the last few years, he'll be gone. The atmosphere could turn very toxic by the end of the season. There's been several people saying it's not Kroenke's fault, he's the one employing these clowns who are making the decisions. |
