Can see Emery making a mental note of who we need in the transfer window at the end of the season. A left back is a must - don't rate Kolasinac as the answer.
A winger as well is needed. Don't think we we have a decent CH at the club if Kos doesn't come back as his old self. Top 4 a possibility at least. We were a mile off top 4 last season. What a difference a manager makes. ![]() |

Ozil is a better player than Ramsey - it can be argued about who is more effective.I really don't mind if we get shot of both or keep both as long as that is the call of Emery. It was said Ramsey wanted around £200k pw and ozil is on £300. We could have 5 very decent players on £100k pw for the two of them - I could see the sense in that also. Frankly I think we MUST ALLOW Emery to make the decision of what HE needs to produce a team in his image.

Got some nice bets on Arsenal Top 4 at 2.88 and lays of both Chelski at 1.36 and Yiddos at 1.53
Looks like it could be an a long tough season but Arsenal have the better squad imho Arsenal have some " easier " games till Liverpool late in the month. Tottenham rely on Kane and Chelski on Hazard. February and March will be tough on both clubs as will Christmas and New year then Championes League. |

Team to play Huddersfield: Leno, Bellerin, Sokratis, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Lichtsteiner, Torreira, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Lacazette, Aubameyang
Subs: Cech, Elneny, Koscielny, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Monreal, Nketiah |

Bit worried for Niles not getting on the bench here. He needs a real chance to show what he can do and imo ought to be ahead of Elneny.

Praise the Lord for Terreira. What a player.
Games like these, off the back of two physical and tiring games, are always hard. Great to see a clean sheet as well. There’s five very good teams competing for four places and Man Utd will start putting a run together I feel. As good as we’ve been it’s not inconceivable that we still finish sixth. |
|
By:
Personally I think there are 5 pretty average teams (2 of which are slightly less average than the other 3).

All 3 of our usual CH's out for the away game v Southampton. I hope he gives Jenkinson another run out in that position v Qarabag as imo he is a better CH than RFB and it may be we need him in the EPL the way things are going.
|
|
By:
Hopefully get Torreira a new contract at the end of the season with a sneaky £1bn buyout in it.

I would be happy to see Jenkinson get a game at Southampton in one of the 3 at the back set up.
|
|
By:
Sorry but Jenko nowhere near good enough. May have no choice if the injury situation doesn't improve.
|
|
By:
Jenkinson was bought as a CH. He played there recently and did a very decent job. We are in real need for this game and as they say, needs must. We have certainly given more chances to worse CH's than him and an added bonus in him playing there would be his height. He MUST come into Emery's thinking as Monreal and Koscielny are major risks (of breaking down)if they start. That said I'm fairly sure he will go with a Monreal/Lichsteiner/Koscielny mix of some sort but to not consider Jenkinson imo, would be a mistake.
|
|
By:
Jenko is too light weight, imo, to play centre half.

Well anyway, Jenkinson had another decent game even if it was at RB. He is better than he is given credit for.

Holding injured, Sokratis and Mustafi both banned for Southampton on Sunday.
Who the hell will play in central defence? Koscielny and Monreal? |
|
By:
Lich, Kos and Mon if he wants a 3. Kos and Mon if a 4 I suspect. I would put a fit Jenkinson in there 100% despite the apparent consensus that he is not good enough, even in these circumstances.

No defenders on the bench when we have 2 coming back from long term injury in the 11 ! Jenkinson not on the bench is a mistake imo- he could cover the whole back-line.
|
|
By:
Blimey, that defence does look a bit thin......two right backs, one left back and a central defender.
Southampton might be worth a cheeky bet here.... |
|
By:
Lost every cross/corner, too small right across the side and Jenkinson sat at home....mistake. The team and Emery had a bad day at the office. More injuries to boot.

Absolutely rubbish.

Koscielny may as well not have been there today. Total passenger for the first two. Why didn't he go with his head for the first? Just not at all match sharp that's why.
Gave away 3 mug goals today, 2 against Spurs, 2 against United and another on the stroke of halftime like today against Bournemouth. Really hope this manager is willing and capable of sorting it out as it shouldn't be hard and he hasn't bought any defenders yet apart from Licht. Will not make top 4 giving away goals like that. Need full backs who know how to defend as well. Bellerin and later Niles really don't have a clue about where they should be in a back line. |
|
By:
Niles is a central midfielder at RB. Lichsteiner is a RB at CH, Xhaka is centre mid at CH - these were choices made by Emery and though we all acknowledge he has done a fantastic job; today he was wrong across the board.

We were ripe for losing today with all the missing players but it's a pity that the run came to an end against such a poor side.
|

By:
Hilarious and not totally unexpected to see Jed on here immediately after the final whistle.
He's had to wait 22 matches for this, bless him. |
|
By:
That was disappointing. Southampton are a poor side.
It was always going to be tough with so many defensive injuries but we shouldn’t be shipping three goals like we did. Leno again disappointing. Iwobi, after looking quite good, seems to have reverted to type. He panics in front of goal and needs to do better. If you’d have said that we’d go three and a half months unbeaten after losing our first two games we’d all have taken that. |

Is this the same 'Jed' that accuses other contributors of trolling his wonderful trophyless club ? Another one who thinks it's ok to dish it out but throws his toys out the pram when someone dares to have a pop at his lot ![]() |

Thought the scoreline flattered Arsenal if you count a massive deflection could easily have been 3-1. 4-1.
