Got big up Ramsey - all things considered he was superb when he came on- no sulking , no protecting himself from injury for a move.

New contract for Ramsey and sell ozil ?

I thought Ramsey was magnificent when he came on today

By:
To be fair he seemed to get well involved before he even came on

Lol. Agreed
By:
I like Ramsey and think he is a good player. I do hope he is playing for Arsenal next season and not West Ham with Wiltshire who I would have like to have seen here.
By:
definitely agree with Ramsey comments
has had form issues for both Arsenal and Wales probably not helped by injury problems but looked right up for it |

I think Holding going away in the Europa was a red herring. |
By:
According to a newspaper report, Aubameyang had a banana skin thrown at him from the away end.
I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, but we really have to stamp this sort of thing out. |
By:
And it was only 1nil when he threw the banana.
That’s some serious pent up hatred and racism imo |
By:
Very very sad, totally premeditated, and also unforgivable.
Predictably, the reaction from Spuds has been as lukewarm as you'd expect - there's talk of "a ban". It should unequivocally be a life one. |
By:
Be interested to hear where everyone feels we are now.
Great performance yesterday, but in all likelihood we'll be outside the top 4 again come Thursday morning. |
By:
Well done yesterday chaps, thoroughly excellent performance from your boys and well deserved. Cracking game as well.
By:
Ramsey is too good to move on, he looks a far superior player to Mikhitarian and played very well on Thursday night too. A great game yesterday and would be a good effort by the new manager if we can make the top four at the end of the season.
By:
Well done for fronting up Jed.
It was a cracking game. Spuds won't be too disappointed in terms of the bigger picture though. Just behind on goal difference and a very nice looking set of fixtures coming up. |
By:
It was very nice to see us win so many first and second balls in midfield. 50/50 balls nearly always went to us and our midfield looked really industrious and effective, Torreira looks a special prospect.
By:
Emery was coy regarding the Ozil absence in his post match interview. I defo got the impression he had already told him he was dropped prior to the return of back twinge ?
I think he is on the way out |
By:
Yes, we should have established ourselves in the Champions League positions with about ten games to go, and to be honest I'd have taken two draws from Chelsea at home and your mob away so I suppose I'm a point better off than I would have been.
On the face of it, a one-off loss to Arsenal is not the end of the world, but it was more the manner of your performance and the response of your crowd to that performance which worries me going forward. It hasn't taken very long for the ghost of Wenger to be exorcised. |
By:
Inspirational performance from the Arsenal. Now we need to see that repeated week in week out, That is the new target.Win or lose. That is how we need to perform.
By:
Great to see yesterday. We've been waiting years for a performance like that and a striker like Aubameyang. He has scored with each of his last 10 shots on target! And there is so much room for improvement too, both the Spurs goals were down to silly individual mistakes which should be relatively easy to cut out eventually and to think we've only been performing at our best for the second half of games all season. 20 points picked up in the second half of 14 league games and haven't been winning at HT in any still.
Agree re Ramsey. He hasn't played much and it's down to him but Emery has got the best out of a lot of our players and Ramsey can be better than Mhiki and Ozil so would like to see him stay. Not sure he'll even want to leave if we keep improving. |
By:
I gave credit to Ramsey for his performance yesterday but the only way he stays is if he accepts weekly wages well below what he obviously thinks he can get elsewhere. If that is the case I am still of the view we should let him leave. It will also send a message to the squad we have and potential targets. He would be a very handy squad player but that is probably not what he wants at this stage of his career. Not sure what EPL club is going to offer him what he wants (or what top side he would get into regularly);so he is likely left with looking abroad.

A very pleasing performance & result.

Lifted from Football365, I thought this was nicely put....
"There goes that power shift. This was supposed to be the season where Arsenal were in transition, when they started their daunting post-Wenger journey and, like all fallen dynasties before them, would struggle for years in the wilderness. Manchester United are still trying to find their way more than five years after Sir Alex Ferguson left; how would Arsenal fare in worse conditions? Wenger’s work in his final years at the Emirates Stadium may never be respected for what it was. He was largely to blame for a gradual depreciation in results and performances, but he also oversaw their first steps into life without him. He rid the club of most of its deadwood, helped put in place a more secure body of power, and bequeathed upon his successor an excellent squad that could be moulded in their image. Emery deserves immense credit for taking Arsenal back to their seat at the top table in record time, but Wenger pulled the chair out for him." |
By:
Hmm, isn't that what any manager should be doing anyway? Weeding out the deadwood?
Talk about bending over backwards to give Wenger credit. |
By:
If Ozil does go why cant Ramsey be made an improved offer?, he should start all day before Mik imo anyway, superb effort from him. Ozil been talked about many a time and still to this day has never put in a performance against a top tier opponent, show pony and actually slows us down on the counter. Iwobi looks better this season but needs to learn that not so many touches are needed, Kos was effective as a wing back too I thought. Nice to see Torreira get his first goal, that will do him a worldy of good and we have a real player in him and more goals to come for sure, Xhaka Capt, well still baffled by him but im willing to think he can still improve as the team does. All going at least the right way so far.
And Im sorry Pixie but no-one is buying that ref Wenger, not in a million bud |

We certainly had a better squad there than Man U did after Fergerson left. How they won the league the season before was baffling. The thing is, imo, Wenger was not in total charge as he once was and was having things imposed upon him(including signings). We were in a clear decline season upon season under him. We are in a decent position because he was having his powerbase taken away; not because of it.
By:
"why cant Ramsey be made an improved offer?"
It is said he wants £200k pw- do you think he is worth that ? |
By:
Yes, I do, as I'm sure he'll get at least that from his next employer, if it's not us.
I think I rate him more than most on here. I think apart from possibly Citeh, he'd walk into any other Premier League first eleven. |

Mark Lawrensons : table if his predicted Arsenal results were correct. Not shown to give him stick but just to counter the pundit narrative of "who have they played" Lawro thinks we ought to have been beaten 6 times. He has us down to lose at the mancs as well ! F... you Mark Lawrenson (he deserves a little stick surely). |
By:
pixie ; it was jon b that I was quoting. That said I would disagree on the points you make on him. Time will tell.
By:
Pixie, getting rid of the deadwood, lololol, Wenger was the deadwood that gave The Ghost a 350k a week contract..
By:
seems there's still a few in the media spinning and rewriting history to make Wenger look good.
He made a lot of the players look like deadwood but it was really only him. Emery has them playing much better almost immediately, esp Lacazette and Iwobi, and that makes it the exact opposite of Man U when Fergie left. Fergie won the league the year he left FFS, the only way was down for Man U. The 'secure body of power' was foisted on him by the management to take transfer control from him and improve the squad. And the squad wasn't quite excellent. The additions of Torreira and Guendouzi have been vital and what everyone said Arsenal needed in midfield for 12 years and Emery has dropped Cech and Ozil, two of the first names on Wenger's sheet and two players who might be called deadwood if anyone is. |
By:
correct wenger gave Ozil that disgusting contract before he went
By:
Agreed Dambuster ..Another panic decision as became the norm. It is that contract which must make things extremely difficult for those signing a new one. Especially if they consider that the shift they put in outweighs what the ghost does week in week out
By:
At least he didn't agree to pay Sanchez what Citeh and United were prepared to pay. Cheers me up no end, watching his form after the disappointment of RVP.
By:
I will speculate now that IF they can offload the Ghost in January they will and if that happens Ramsey will get a new offer.
By:
I formed the distinct impression from the Emery interview post match that he has had enough of him and no one can say he hasnt given him a massive chance to show his worth
