im not sure the judge werent pressing alberts QC for more with the "im inviting an argument" comment,to my mind it suggests he hasnt heard enough to convince him to tell them to part with 250k but it wouldnt take a lot to tip him that way,im not sure if her closing argument has really stepped up too the mark in that respect?

Be interesting to read his comments during corals closing argument cos their defence has been nothing short of laughable until now!

I agree pat, their defense has been frankly laughable

should be making clear that their rules state they settle on final classification (which they do, and presumably did in 2012??) and that relegation is when teams with the lowest ranking(s) (ie via points) are transferred to the division below and promotion is the opposite

also should have presented documents supporting the FACT that the rangers that was wound up and expunged from the league is a different company/club to the 1 that was invited into div 3 the following season

perhaps they assumed like me this was a done deal a coral victory but it seems their cocky attitude (and no doubt skimping on the lawyers fees) could prove their downfall??

we shall see

parispike - Edinburgh

Seems the judge is stumped with the odds rather than the bet itself, the odds are completely irrelevant.

It seems if it was 6/4 he would rule in favour of the punter, but because they are long it will go the books way (imo). Coral 1/3 and punter 5/2
By:

Maybe Coral have been told they stand to lose so have gone the odds route for a smaller payout

Just a  thought as it seems all strange they keep on about the odds

looks like coral will get off (rightly imo) but for the wrong reasons, what have the odds of the bet got to do it with ffs

Did anyone check this also in court ? Doesn't look like anything in the past has been checked as they would have punters claiming back years LaughLaughLaugh

Out of interest, does anyone following the #Kinloch case know if bets on Aberdeen being relegated were paid out in 1999/00? (1/2)

David Docherty ‏@daviddc2m  20m20 minutes ago
Aberdeen finished last that year but weren't relegated because Falkirk were refused promotion. Blurs definition of relegated. #Kinloch (2/2)

If it's no win no fee these firms usually take a 30% cut. In which case if he wins he will still pocket 175k.

my guess is aberdeen relegation bets won't have been paid, I think all bets on the market will/should have been voided as no team was relegated that year

relegation occurs when a team occupies the relegation places in the end of season table and the team is relegated by the relevant football association

I would imagine bets on Rangers coming second that would got paid out.If there was a market for say betting with out Celtic later on in season.

Surely this has been checked

Thats not really live is it? I doubt someone posting tweets every 5 mins will cover everything that is said.

I would have thought the Aberdeen relegation bets would have been paid as it would have been some time after they confirmed that Falkirk were not going to meet the Stadium requirements by the start of the new season.

I think it was known from the start of the season about Falkirk as you needed a 10k all seater back then to join SPL

I don't think they would have built one over the summer Grin

I don't know why they didn't ground share though

the timing is key

thinking back I think even durham's relegation from the county championship last year was implemented a week or 2 after the end of the season, so people who bet hampshire for relegation in shops etc could have got their money

Don't think it was decided as soon as the season finished that they weren't going up. There were numerous discussions about ground sharing elsewhere before the decision was finally made they weren't going up.

After the creation of the SPL in 1998, its strict stadium criteria – to which Brockville Park did not conform – was enforced, and the club was denied promotion on three occasions.

The punter should have made the point that 2,500/1 was the best price, but 2,000/1 or whatever was widely available.

Judge seems to have got caught up on the odds.

Unfortunately love it's already like this, they fkin police themselves. Wank organisations like IBAS and the Gambling Commission are ab out as useful as tits on a nun ffs.
