Coral lawyer asks some sh1t questions

James Doleman ‏@jamesdoleman  1h1 hour ago
Sandison notes Rangers won the league in 2010/2011 "can you think of any examples when a league champion came bottom the next year"?

1/2

another witness Fox

James Doleman ‏@jamesdoleman  1h1 hour ago
Fox replies "it could happen," notes "Leicester are in trouble this year," but agrees it would be "rare"

James Doleman ‏@jamesdoleman  1h1 hour ago
Sandison  'Odds of 2500/1 would only be offered on an event that wouldn't happen?"

They do sometimes happen Fox replies

So 2500/1 is only marked up on NON events Laugh

They could have got someone who knew about gambling to quiz the old lags

Sandison, for Coral is now nearing the end of Fox's report.

Report says odds show "Coral racing were not up to date on the situation."   poor coral LaughLaughLaugh

James Doleman ‏@jamesdoleman  3m3 minutes ago
Sandison asks if any other reason for the 2500/1 odds given and if these were unusual for a sporting bet?

Sandison suggests only one bookmaker offered 5000/1 on Leicester winning the league last season.

Normal odds were 2000/1

Imo, being liquidated is different to relegated. What the punter should have done is asked the question when he placed the bet, basic common sense. I doubt he asked it as he probably knew the answer

Clare agrees there is nothing in Coral's rules that defines what "relegated" means.

By:
lurka

They never go public with settlement amounts or offers, they wouldn't want the court knowing that an offer was even made.

Has there been a scenario where a team were 'demoted' / 'liquidated'  for financial irregularities but also finished in the relegation places too? Like a portsmouth type situation? If there is a similar scenario then did Corals pay out on bets to be relegated in that case? That's what his lawyers should be looking for

Imo, being liquidated is different to relegated.

The liquidation is irrelevant JC as everybody (except most celtic fans Laugh) are in agreement that it was the holding company who were liquidated and not the team
FIFA,UEFA, SFA and 3 Law Lords have all stated this.
So team not liquidated but argument is that is there a difference between relegation and demotion.
Corals rules don't make any mention of demotion which might very well sway the judge to side with the punter.

in that situation they would be right to pay out on relegation imo

they always state it is final league standings which payout is made on, so even if liquidated post-season whilst in the relegation places you've still been relegated prior to being liquidated

Won't pay out and shouldn't. I'm pretty sure they didn't finish last and another team was relegated. They were pumped out all divisions when they were liquidated. If they priced up the market on the basis that one team would be relegated then the fact that one was and one team ceased to exist then they can't be expected to pay out on two teams surely.
