The amount of money involved with these clubs nowadays virtually makes the fee irrelevant. 60 million, 50, 40 it's not really that important (sounds crazy to say). All that matters is the quality of the player the team is getting.

I would say Di Maria is the first top quality signing they will have made in many years.  Maybe if they get one others will follow rather than the second or third tier player they usually sign.

Shame for Di Maria is gonna be surrounded by a very average group of players at the moment.

As many have said, it seems just a weird area of the team to prioritise. Mata, Rooney and Van Persie as a front three is one of the few plus points of the team. Di Maria might be a class act, but it won't matter if the defence and midfield behind him are so sub standard.

People seem unaware that Di Maria played his best football by some distance as part of a midfield 3 last season.

left side of 3 without the ball, with no protection from onaldo, with the ball....freedom to get ahead of Alonso and Khedira.

MOTM in CL final from there and at least one if not more of the Classicos.

i actually rate januzaj

he is a winger fook knows what his gaffer wanted from him today when he came on in that position.

quick service so he can get at his opponent on the flank is the ticket with him.

trouble with utd the build up play is painfully slow, never seen the like of it for years!

he was a winger, but today he in the middle se

VG doesnt have a clue about the epl, you cannot gain width by make wingers play as full backs.
By:
stridingedge
When: 24 Aug 14 21:39
that's what i was alluding too

januzaj just wants the ball early and get at players on the flank.

the tempo has been so un utd like since fergie left.

you can have good players up the pitch but when the service is so slow, its easier for the opposition to stop them.
By:

When: 24 Aug 14 21:46
very true.

Man u have been built on high tempo pressure, man u's strength was their ability to press the opposition out of it, so it didnt come down to ability, that is why fergie was the best manager that ever lived.

It doesnt matter how good you are when you are surrounded.

Van Ghoul is fooked imo.

surely you dont pay that much  for a winger - he must play in the middle ?

Henderson is a prime example of why academy kids need to work harder,, even very average players can make the grade...

Regardless of the fee, Di Maria was a very good player for Real Madrid. It remains to be seen how he adapts to playing in the most competitive league in the world, & in a team struggling to find it's mojo ever since Fergie retired. It's all very well & good playing in a top side surrounded by great players, but United's demise has been staggering to say the least. So unless the combined efforts of LVG, Di Maria, & others, can get United back on their perch again after spending over £260 million over the past 3 years, then you'll have a club that has splashed out over a quarter of a billion pounds in a very short space of time & actually made their team worse.....Now that really does take some doing.

Most competitive lg in the world comment yet again,Silly

Don`t know why the price is a problem as Adidas gave manu £750m to re-shape the league to their satisfaction ( adidas don't seem to enjoy the lack of revenue when they are halfway down the league).

Ferguson built a great team, then overpaid on transfers to keep them clear, then failed to replace many players toward the end of his time.

Every club that receives a call about one of their contracted players, is all too aware of the urgency.

There's not many leagues in the world where a club near the bottom (Sunderland) can go to the homes of 2 clubs fighting it out for the title (Chelsea & City) & collect 4 points.

Teams like Real Madrid can win most of their games in La Liga by playing in 2nd or 3rd gear. Di Maria will get no such luxury in the PL.
