75m per year, for 10yrs. It's not a matter of money, but of priorities. I'm a shirt maker (Adidas) ie I make money by selling shirts. I sponsor you, but FFS you need to buy footballers that are selling shirts. Expensive players. Players everyone will talk about. Here's the strategy: find a household name, and if there aren't around will help you create one. Start a saga about the transfer, make it look complicated, as if you were trying to sign Obama as president of Korea. Possibly pretend the deal is about to break and in the end chip in another 5 million, to make the transfer look more dramatic, therefore more advertising-friendly. You don't have to care for the money because it's me, the shirt maker, who foots the bill. What did you say, you rather need a defender? Sorry guys, defenders don't sell as many shirts, so go out and get Di Maria as you were slow to get Rodriguez or Suarez. That's what happens when you sell your soul for cash. 750million quid could have bought 51pct of manutd on the stock exchange. In a way, this is what Adidas have actually done. |

Interesting take Johnnie and from a team building point of view you do have to question whether the money could have been better spent but advertisers may well have that kind of influence and like you say names sell shirts.

he's a top class player so the money is well spent. what i really hate to see is buying a lot of mediocre players for 15 million ish - i'd swap 5 of them for 1 high quality player any day...sometimes less is more.

I believe if Utd don't qualify for the Champions League this season AND next season then Adidas have to pay less. If Utd get relegated during the deal Adidas can pull out of the contract.

Probably, but not silly enough not to be put into the contract by Adidas. There are probably a range of performance related points to the contract, those were a couple that were highlighted a couple of weeks ago.

by the way a player who costs 60 mill plus doesnt get 130 grand a week unless barry silkmens his agent,could have got 200grand plus net at psg so if you think utd are such a pull he,s taken a 100 grand a week pay cut fair play to you

Basically La Liga is where the stars are.....and when some of them fail to perform or are not as good as they thought originally.....then its off to the heap of Shiite premiership with them....while the one or two genuinely world class playes like Suarez and Bale go the other way..... The career of Fabregas sums up European soccer.....at first they thought he was too good for the premiership.....but when they foind out he was a dud.....give Chelsea a ring there quick..... |

only two teams in spain and one other, at the moment the designated one other is atletico Madrid, no depth to the league. epl is miles better

Balague said 8.5 million euro's per year was Di Maria's deal which is 130k per week. Probably an increase on what he was on at Madrid. PSG wouldn't pay the asking price so it's irrelevant.

Utd can afford 3 more signings of the same amount due to their turnover... With Barca not being able to buy and BAYERN AND REAL squads complete it gives utd hope that over the next 2 windows they can attract that kinda player |
