Going for a team that has spent most of the recent past on the blacklist, so with more than a touch of trepidation.
65. Atletico Madrid to beat Austria Vienna £215.62 at 1.05 24' in and Atletico are up 1-0. The fact they're virtually already qualified and maybe don't NEED to win, well, it means nothing to me. It's Vienna. They should give them a sound beating. |
|
By:
And it's 2-0. If I'd spent more time typing and less time making puns on 80s bands, maybe I wouldn't look like a bit of an aftertimer

4-0 FT.
Not going to be around tomorrow as I'm off to see the Sterophonics in Glasgow, no idea what time I'll be back on Friday, so may not have a bet - all a bit up in the air. My bet tomorrow: 66. Lay Sheriff Tiraspol v Tottenham at 32 - liability £224.44 Quite a bit shorter than normal, works out at around 1.032, but my running average is still currently above 1.05, so I'm happy to take low odds on something I have no intention of paying much attention to. There's surely no way Spurs will lose at home to a Moldovan team they cruised to victory against a couple of weeks ago, even if they play Adebayor and the tea-lady at centre-back. |
|
By:
Time got the best of me yesterday, prefer to avoid short odds in South America, perfect example being a Brazilian team coming back from 0-2 down with 25m left to win 3-2.
Might have two bets today since I missed a day, the first one is on. 67. Debrecen to beat Puskas Academia £230.19 at 1.062 (av. odds) My first choice was a Latvian game earlier, but only managed to get £28 matched at the price I wanted before the ship sailed This is the Hungarian league, second v 3rd bottom (14th). Currently 2-1 Debrecen with Puskas down to 10 men. |
|
By:
Just the one bet yesterday, discipline got the better of me yesterday evening. Not gambling discipline, but the discipline that is imposed on me at Milla Towers - I'm not far enough along in the run to make it worth arguing with the ball and chain about. Think it's probably wise not to feel the need to push things along though.
Anyway: 68. Lay Real Betis HT/FT at 24 v Barcelona - liability £241.27 No real analysis needed here I think, Betis are struggling, Barca aren't. |
|
By:
No Messi? No problem. 0-2 HT
Tomorrow's fixture list looks tricky - Shortwood United sound like they're the 5-a-side team from a Beatrix Potter story. I might just be looking to the NFL again tonight for the next one. |
|
By:
The NFL plan fell through as I fell asleep when the game was still relatively close. Did wake up in time for the Hoobs playing a game of cricket, but BF didn't have a market open.
So, off to Romania, which should be fun. 69. Gaz Metan Medias to beat Concordia Chiajna £249.78 at 1.07 C. 20m in, Gaz Metan 1-0 up, Chiajna down to 10 men. Chiajna look to be pretty rotten away, losing their last three and Gaz have won their last three home games. The extra man should be enough to avoid an upset here. |
|
By:
1-0 FT.
Few nervy moments there, especially when it went 10-a-side early in the second half. Chijana played some nice stuff but luckily had the cutting edge of a sponge. Timely reminder that (a) the Romanian league probably isn't the best place to gamble heavily and that (b) statistics are essentially useless when it comes to what's going actually happening on the pitch. Onwards ![]() |

By:
your doing well here Milla keep it going mate
![]() |
|
By:
Hopefully it carries on a bit longer, although I have a feeling that the international break will see the end of this run. Not relishing tomorrow's fixture list and no tennis to fall back on, so the next week will probably be as nervy as that Romanian game.
Might just go on holiday for a couple of weeks ![]() |

Short format darts, living on the edge for this one.
70. Phil Taylor to beat Kevin Painter £263.91 at 1.04 Currently 2-0 Taylor in the race to 5. Taylor already qualified but has just taken out a 147-ish finish, so he's playing to win. Just gone 3-0 now. |
|
By:
5-0 Taylor. Pleasing.
|

By:
Placed tomorrow's bet now, since I'm busy most of tomorrow.
71. Lay New Zealand at 19 v Mexico - liability £272.52 The Mehicans had a particularly bad qualifying campaign, especially losing to Honduras (which won me a few quid) and drawing with Jamaica at home (which cost me considerably more than a few quid) and half of Mexico seems to have had a shot at managing them through the campaign. Somehow they managed to sneak through to this play-off with the Kiwis. I looked up the NZ squad on Soccerway and it seems that most of their players play in the A-League, which seems to be the latest fashionable place for footballers to end their careers, hardly an elite league. Any team that has Rory Fallon in their national squad, one of those unique types who loses about 2 feet when he jumps for a header, can't be up to much - when he played for us last season my son genuinely thought his first name was "Fuccksake". Enough Fallon-bashing, Mexico won't lose to an Oceanic team in front of over 100k people - and if they are down in the last few minutes, hopefully there'll be a riot or something ![]() Having said all that, I'm nowhere near brave enough to back Mexico at 1.22 though. |
|
By:
To be fair to the big man, he did give us this in our last semi-final:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hRf3CHKJbU Shame we ended up bottling the game and it didn't mean **** all - still an amazing goal. Lightning doesn't strike twice though. |
|
By:
What a fookin goal that was! Nice1
|
|
By:
Thank you San Marino for holding out for 19 minutes
72. Norway U19 to beat San Marino U19 £284.69 at 1.05 Feel free to collapse any time. |
|
By:
Any time turned out to be in the 88th minute. 2-0 FT, never in doubt
![]() I'm off for a stiff drink and a packet of cigarettes. Onwards ![]() |
|
By:
Considering the amount of internationals on, this may seem random, but:
73. Afan Lido v TNS Over 1.5 Goals £296.19 at 1.06 Top v bottom in the Welsh Prem, and despite being battered the whole game bottom leads 1-0 after 32 mins. |
|
By:
1-1 in the 56th minute.
I've spent most of the last half hour muttering "Backing a goal? You ****g mug" or words to that effect, so a bit of a relief, even though it was never in doubt really. Stuff to do tomorrow, so off to check out the fixture list. |

Money up laying Ethiopia at 18 away to Nigeria tomorrow afternoon for bet 74, should be matched but unless it happens in the next hour or so I probably won't get a chance to officially post it.
|
|
By:
No worries on getting matched in the Nigeria match, looked pleasingly routine.
Million and one things to do this weekend, but finally grabbed time for Sunday's bet. 74. New York Giants to beat Green Bay £325.32 at 1.07 Placed at 20-6 NY at the end of the 4th. Since then GB have scored a TD after doing very little all game, down to their third choice QB and haven't looked very good at all the last couple of weeks, while the Giants have won their last three. |
|
By:
That's actually #75 of course, since the Nigeria v Ethiopia bet wasn't officially posted as matched on here, but trust me, it happened

By:
76. Spain U21 to beat Albania U21
20 mins to go and the Dagos are up 1-0. |
|
By:
*£343.71 at 1.04
|
|
By:
Final score 2-0 Spain.
Mini-target reached after that, however since it's my birthday tomorrow (on international day, cheers mum ) that presents a different kind of logistical challenge to getting a bet on, hopefully Argentina v Bosnia at 1am or the NFL present opportunities before I go to bed tonight. It's either that or the afternoon Asian internationals while the wife is at work.First world problems and all that |
|
By:
milla good effort o far. i have been looking in from afar but not often the forum talking kind of person. Anyway good luck and I hope you get to the 180 which given your current level should get you to around 55k.
|
|
By:
Cheers Sherrie, hopefully this goes on a bit longer, although I can guarantee my bottle will have gone well before the £55k mark
![]() |
|
By:
just take it as you are doing 1 or 2 max a day and you will be fine. i suppose you could take 10% out at certain points to give you something from the decent run as it will start to increase quickly for you from this point onwards

Goals at the wrong time in the Argie game meant I missed the chance for that, attempted to get on over 36 points in the NFL at 17-17 at 1.05, which would have been a guaranteed winner thanks to BF's overtime rules - unless it was a tie after OT of course, but only got £205 of the challenge bank matched before more points came along. That money will be going into the yacht fund.
Was tempted by the NBA, but I haven't been following the new season that closely - would rather leave it a few weeks before getting heavily involved in that. The game I was looking at, Warriors v Jazz, annoyingly looks like sailing in. NFL staying close so it looks like Asian internationals tomorrow are the way I'll be going. |

77. Bahrain to beat Yemen £354.82 at 1.04
9 minutes in, Bahrain already 1-0 up. Chandler Bing seething. |
|
By:
Wednesday's bet is a bit of a no-brainer.
78. Uruguay to beat Jordan £366.30 at 1.07 The tie is pretty much over, but if they can win 5-0 away then they surely should win at home against a team that have lost recent away games to the mighty Iraq, Oman, Syria and Bahrain - I watched Bahrain yesterday and they were ****g rotten. |
|
By:
they were rotten and you backed them!!!
![]() |
|
By:
Yemen had lost 17 straight, so was pretty confident. Was regretting it a bit in the second half, believe me
![]() |
|
By:
Yeah man
can imagine, we have all been their from time to time, how long you been at it now milla ? |
|
By:
Started back on September 3rd with £10 on a UAE Cup game, seems like ages ago.
|
|
By:
I really enjoyed reading all the write up's on this challenge :-) Good Luck for a Uruguay win t'nite :-)
|
|
By:
September 3rd is ages ago
but well worth the discipline and nous that you have shown so far, great effort chief. |
|
By:
Cheers guys, the mini write ups are partly out of boredom and partly to show that it's not completely "see a 1.05, lump on" - that's the good thing about one a day, means a bit of selectivity and thought goes into it. Plus I've banked a total of £55.46 from this so far, so well in profit whatever happens.
Not that I'm getting ahead of myself, but have you seen tomorrow's in play coupon? Slim pickings. |
|
By:
Christ, smallest in-play coupon I think I've ever seen on the footy!
Really well done on this so far though mate ![]() |
|
By:
Balls.
Should have known better than to back a team 5-0 up after the first leg. One less team to support next summer, just the 30 now. It's been fun, but unsuccessful. Cheers for following this guys. |
