 . I've nothing against Everton, I quite like you's, but Everton is a fairly large club in british terms in the shadows of one of the biggest clubs in the world. To call everton one of europes big clubs is absolutely madness. |

Wilshere 'bossed Barca'?
He was good in he home leg but never came close to bossing Barca in a game they dominated. In the return leg he gave away the ball so many times it was incredible and the commentators barely mentioned it. He would give the ball away and crunch into a tackle an they would gush over him. |

Barkley looks a good prospect (really good actually) but that's all he is at the moment. How many EPL games has he started?
It seems to have escaped many that England have a real job on to qualify for Rio 2014 (appreciate the OP indirectly acknowledges this). If they don't qualify, our promising younger players will be denied valuable tournament experience. The performance of the U21s and U20s in the summer also give cause for concern. Centre back options (even beyond the current incumbents) do not inspire confidence either. |

im sorry but you guys are entitled to your opinion but wilshere is top class and will go down as England's best midfielder when he retires internationally. Im certain of that.
Gasgoigne was special but I think Wilshere is better technically. |

You can name probably 20 young & developing English players who have the potential to be top class. The problem is Germany and Spain have literally hundreds of similar prospects. The problem is that for every Paul Scholes there's a Jermaine Jenas.
Half of them won't go on to be anything, and we're still behind the sheer depth and breadth of talent elsewhere. |

I haven't seen enough of Draxler or Pogba to provide a fair comparison but Wilshere definitely isn't better than Isco, and I rate Jack highly!

I am genuinely amazed that you can seriously think Jack Wilshere at the age of 21 is technically better than Gazza.
Wilshere so far in his career has done nothing. |

its all about opinions. I think Wilshere is technically better than Isco. I'm sure there are people that think the Fiat Cinquecento is better than a BMW 5-Series, but it doesn't mean they're right. |

For the best part of 10 years they were 2 of the worlds best midfielders. I'm pretty sure if you gave Wilshere the option to achieve what they have he'd snap your hand off. |

I've got nothing against Wilshere, he was phenomenal in both games against Barcelona for Arsenal. He's quality. But Isco is even better from what I've seen.
And as for England getting to semi finals of course anything's possible but really that's just guessing. It's typical supporter mentality. Able to look at his team but completely unable to appreciate the full picture by assessing the relative strengths and weaknesses of the all the opposition sides. There are several nations with dozens and dozens of brilliant prospects coming through, and they dwarf our guys in both talent and sheer numbers. |

that's 6 countries (ger/spa) included mary. that's not many. Argentina haven't got an outstanding amount of top talent coming through after messi and co btw. This is Argentinas golden generation right now.
and only 11 players can be on a pitch at a time. If England can produce a few more like wilshere in the next few years we will be a threat, it doesn't matter if brazil produce 2000 world class players and England produce 20 world class players. Quality not quantity. |

It does matter you fool because only a few reach their potential. If only 5% become truly world class that's 1 for England and 100 for Brazil, using your figures.
Also, players get pushed on by competition, both internally and externally. Success breeds success. If you've got 100 top players pushing to get into a World Cup squad of course it raises the overall standard. |

Some of us watched a lot of the various youth tournaments through the summer and France looked good at nearly every one. And yes, marychain, Thauvain could turn out to be the best of the lot. Still only 18 too.
