if they are good enough, they'll play in this country or another. See Wilshere, Welbeck etc. Produce players like that who are good enough and we'll see more English players in the prem'.
Look at some of the young talent England has coming through, why so negative people?
Wilshere - Probably the second best young midfielder in Europe after Gotze, technically incredible.
Welbeck - Adding goals to his game, still young and has all the makings to be a real top striker.
Bartley - The Everton youngster will be better than Rooney, a genuine world class player in the making. Technically gifted.
Shaw - The young left back is a real talent, with great composure and all round ability.
Cleverley - Gets undeserved criticism, does nothing spectacular but retains possession unlike gerrard and lampard.
Zaha - Great potential. Sometimes does too many tricks but has pace, power and can finish. Could go a long way.
Walcott - Great pace and finishing ability.
Daniel Sturridge - Great football mind, can link up well with others. World class finisher on his day.
Oxlaide Chamberlain - Great pace and technically very good. Can open up play and keep possession. Can score or assist.
Im not even mentioning Rooney, Tom Carroll, Lennon, Smalling, Jones, Hart, Redmond etc etc.
Ive seen things are changing too at grassroots but it will not happen overnight. But rest assured things are changing in terms of coaching, goal sizes etc, and there are some very skilled English youngsters out there.
Unfortunately I think World Cup 2014 is too soon for England to mount a challenge, especially with the defence in cahill and jagielka being poor.
I however expect England to make the euro 2016 semi finals in France.

Wilshere is absolutely class. Anyway can see when watching him on sky or motd.
Do you remember when he bossed brazil or Bayern/barca? Its no coincidence that managers from Holland and spain have said he is world class. I take it you haven't seen much of Bartley. |

It's people like you that make football fans the laughing stock that they are. A player has a few good games and all of a sudden he's going to be better than Rooney. He played ok against Brazil in a bloody friendly for Christs sake. i watch him week in week out. If he was half as good as he thinks he'd be a good player. |

We'll leave the Wilshere debate for one minute.
I've seen lots of Bartley as I always take an interest on future English talent. The boy is a class act. He's a young lad but his awareness, technical ability and footballing brain is amazing for someone so young. When managers describe him as special you know he'll go far. I honestly believe he will go to one of europes big clubs one day. |

Obviously the germans have world class talent in every position, as do Spain and Argentina and all the top teams and are way ahead of England at this time. My point is merely that England's future is brighter than some have us led to believe. |

and how many of Englands youngsters have become world class in the last say 20 years? Beckham the only one that springs to mind...the rest are over-hyped by the media etc. to something they are not. There is not one world class player in that list and I doubt if any of them will be, unless of course playing regularly for a Premier League team now counts.

Beckham and Gerrard are overated.
Shearer, Gazza, and Scholes were three world class players, IMO. Gerrard can't retain possession, nor can Lampard, and we still made it to regular quarters and only just missed out on semis. England now have players who can retain possession and you need that in the modern game. I'm more excited about the players coming through than I was when we had gerrard and lampard at their peak. |

Eboue, I'm very confident with that ball players England have that we will make at least 1 semi final appearance in the euros or world cup in the future while Wilshere and Cleverley are playing for England. If you disagree entirely, that's up to you. |

Not often that I agree with Mr Eboue....
Jack Wilshire is a disgrace. He has been trained the Arsenal way i.e roll over if you have been touched (!) and roll over if you have not.If it is in the opposition penalty area then all the better as you will break play up when there is a counter attack. Unfortunately this is spreading throughout the Premier League.... As an aside the sooner that person of dubious morals Wenger is sacked the better.They were beaten fair and square yesterday.... |

the mover England kept possession and outplayed brazil at Wembley (fair enough brazil done the same at the maracana), and outplayed Ireland at Wembley too. Also outplayed Moldova away, Montenegro first half away. A few recent that spring to mind. |

got serious issues has the national squad
for starters technically we are still way behind.....so when we come up against ball retention sides we will have less of the ball. and we have too many in midfield who don't understand the importance of being a unit when it comes to pressing and coverage......we also don't have a strategy on this just a formation and let em get on with it. |

The main reason, we are poor at International football, is
1/ Too many foreigners, stopping our youngsters coming through and playing Premier League Football 2/ Too many foreign managers, who go out and buy, even more foreigners, who are probably no better, than the British youngsters, who have to play reserve team football. 3/ And with all these over-rated foreigners playing over here, they know all the strengths and weakness's of our International players. Now there are a few high class overseas players in our League, but there is also an awful amount of dross players, from oversea's. Kick all that lot out and in 10 years time, we might start to see a decent International side again. |

We aren't poor at international level because of foreigners, if anything they help our players. You can't say that they are stopping some English youngsters, fact is half of them are craap anyway. You can't tell me that if the likes of huddlestone played every week they'd be good enough to improve the England team. They are the way they are because of coaching.
It all goes back to coaching, we haven't produced enough quality players like Wilshere in recent years. Hopefully in the coming years more technically gifted English players will be produced and will be in the prem'. It all comes down to coaching when young. That is being addressed but it wont happen overnight. Only when coaching is corrected and we produce better players will we have more of a chance in tournaments. If you're good enough, you will play. Really is that simple. |

Cri****, if what you say is true, then why were England generally awful throughout the 70's and 80's when there were next to no foreigners in the game? There were plenty of tournaments back then that we didn't even qualify for, let alone go a long way in.

Because like now, we are not very good at football, but we should keep our football to being 90% british and not 90% foreign. Not too long ago, it was not uncommon for Arsenal to field a totally foreign team, which was plain stupid. Now I do beleive Man City have started to bring on youngsters at their academy or whatever and Chelsea I think are trying, as well, but our clubs pay huge amounts of money for very average oversea's players and then pay them ridiculous wages as well. Its all pretty ridiculous.

Well, we had better goalkeepers fact, better midfield players as well, the trouble is, all we did was train them to chase, chase and chase, more to close down players, we haven't for ages, basically since Paul Gasgoine had anyone that is remotely like World Class. The worst aspect of our game is passing, which we don't do particularly well at International football. If you retain the ball, the oppsition can do nothing but try and win it back, with a tackle.
It wasn't so long ago, we had Peter Crouch playing for England, things were that bad. Yes he got 23 I think International goals, but not too many against any decent sides. However I would rather watch crap British players, than crap oversea's players and the only thing we seem to learn from them is how to dive and feign injuries. |

Everton is a great club with great supporters, but far from being one of europes big clubs. Whenever you think of Everton, you think of Liverpool FC. Everton cannot grow much really, will always be in Liverpools shadow. Nonetheless everton is a good club and I like them, they do well to overachieve each season.
