How can you judge someone as being out of their depth after 1 friendly with half the first team missing?
I do agree that his comments on Rooney were bizarre though, saying he's only back up to RVP is hardly going to entice him to stay. |

He is trying to show who is in charge with his comments on Rooney. He wants to be seen as strong as Fergie.
Problem is any `tough as nails' type from scotland - probably a few hundred thousand would do the same and have similar qualifications as Moyes. His stunningly bizarre elevation from a team that did ok in the league but won nothing in over a decade to a top 3 team in the world will confound for many years to come. I think any man on the planet that has ever kicked a ball would win a trophy for united as a manager but the damage will be done mid-long term. |

he's in a difficult position with Rooney, he either has to get rid now or give him a new contract on the same or higher wages (to get him to stay). The problem is he is not worth half the wages he is on, so get rid I'd say. You could get better with the cash you make

I'd be very surprised if United wanted him to stay but its a game of poker now. If United put him up for sale then he will demand a massive fee to leave so they will try and drive him out forcing him to ask for a transfer |

blimey your bitter about Moyes - interesting to see your views on Martinez in a few months time I would say having the 24th best transfer budget and 12th highest wage bill yet consistently having your team in and around the TOP 6 for many years in a league dominated by money is slightly better than OK especially when losing many crucial players on the eve of a season I'm not saying he will be a massive success as I believe he has been left with the poorest united squad for many years - as others have pointed out, if RVP gets injured its difficult to see where goals will come from hence Fergie buying an injury prone 29 year old when he knew he was a complete short term buy. City and Chelsea will be so much stronger this season - Fergie knew what he was doing |

But isn't that what initial opinions are all about. You judge someone on whether you think they are good enough or not. This happens every time a new owner or new manager comes in.
Look at Joe Kinnear coming in at Newcastle and the reaction that got. |

A friendly game is NOT a game where you judge a coach before season starts. Fitness ......and avoiding injuries is more important than results in such games. |

Probably the most baffling appointment in the history of football. How can you extrapolate from his slightly above-average performance at Everton that he is worthy of the hotseat at the biggest club in the world?
I would say he is out of his depth, and I wouldn't be sure that a few bad results early on while City and Chelsea get off to good starts wouldn't get the natives restless. But time will tell I guess. |

A lot of reliable sources are reporting it was either 10m + Luiz or 10m + Mata. Ok there's a big difference between the two and I don't get how such confusion has arisen, but it does seem reasonably likely that was the offer made.

Moyes has clearly decided Rooney is going. However, I am sure he will do everything he can not to sell him to Mourinho.
I am no Moyes fan but he is a reasonably intelligent and he knows he could look clownish if he lets him go to chelsea. I would expect Rooney to be inspired by Mourinho, get properly fit and have 3 fantastic years there. He would help them win trophies, very possibly the league and Moyes would lookm foolish. For that reason expect Moyes to hold out if at all possible for him to be sold to Arsenal or abroad. |
