Now SofaKing's backed Liverpool at 3.0 with about 12 mins + injury time after a relatively unimpressive performance, but he said 1.52 pre-kick off was "ridiculously short". Why not just stick a pin in the paper next time SofaKing?

It wouldn't be silly if the prices were good, but if he thought 1.52 was ridiculously short pre kick-off, then how can he possibly think they're good?

well done Sofaking.

He does exactly what he says in his OP and makes a profit and still it isn't good enough for the forum experts.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

Yeah, well done SofaKing with your completely random bets. 1.52 is RIDICULOUSLY SHORT pre kick off,
BUT

1.77 is worth backing after 35 mins of Liverpool playing mediocre and how about another bet on Liverpool at 3.0 with 12 mins + injury time remaining after more mediocre football?!

Just use the magic pin next time imo.

He said he was laying and trading in play.....what you have highlighted is what he did

or am i missing something?Plain

Yes. I highlighted what he did Scaredmoney. Why did he suddenly think 1.77 was a good back after 35 mins and 3.0 good with 12 mins injury time left? What did Liverpool do well / Stoke do badly to change his opinion so much?

I believe its called trading

Ahhhhh it's called TRADING! What a revelation! That's when value just doesn't matter anymore!

Who gives a f*ck about value?! If I make this bet, I know I'm going to finish ahead after the final whistle!

I'm £1000 ahead, this week.

I'll just stick my pin in the paper and make a £500 bet on anything.

If I lose, I'm £500 ahead for the week, if I win, I've got even more. Value isn't important!

Do you get a bonus prize for making a net profit from all your bets on a match? I'm confused.

The problem is that if you keep following someone that is basically making random bets you'll end up living under a bridge.

I wouldnt say laying Liverpool at home at cramped odds is a "random bet" ...... been a good money spinner so far this season and for the majority of last

& longer than that too. There is a large section of the betting public & football fans at large who still attach far more significance to the name than the teams form has merited for rather a long time now.

One thing I have learned on here, is that sometimes you should just get out, and if the market is not giving you great prices, that's tough sh1t.
I'd suggest that having layed Liverpool at home, 0-0 with 12 minutes to go is around the time to get out, sharpish.

Nice work sofaking.

Every bet he made was poor.

Liverpool to not win at 2.92 pre kick off. (won)

Liverpool have just beaten Norwich 5-2 away and played well all season. Surely they have more than a 65% of winning at home to Stoke.

Liverpool to win at 1.77 after 35 mins (lost)

Liverpool starting to look like the struggling side of last season, and 1.52 to 1.77 would be a disproportionately small price increase relative to time elapsed even if they were playing well. How can you say 1.52 was a ridiculously short pre-kick off and then make this bet?

Liverpool to win at 3.0 with 12 mins + injury time left (lost)

Similar to last bet.

What about the next 2 bets he made? It's a contradiction whatever way you look at it.

Ah, I get it. Sometimes bad value bets are good as long as you've got that psychological comfort of knowing you've made a net profit from all your bets on the match. Never mind the fact that poor value bets will lose you money over time. That's not the point is it? It's all about "winning the match". Thanks for inviting me into your inane mind.

Oh, he does his bollox if he loses does he? Then surely, a better approach is to not overstake pre kick-off, so that you're not compelled to make a random bet that may or may not be good value in-running? It's not rocket science.

Decision Technology ratings had Liverpool 62%, which makes the lay value for me.
My gut feeling also says if any side can hold Liverpool at 1.5, it will be Stoke. In fact I would have made the exact same bet op did, but I had other things to do.

Last post, because it's not my really my argument, and I have nothing useful to add.

1.52 MIGHT have been a good lay. That's at least plausible. The point you made "that sometimes you should just get out" regardless of prices is blatantly inane unless you've overstaked, but the obvious solution to that is don't overstake!

The classic! Even once you've won the argument that was provoked by someone making a rude, unsubtantiated remark, you're still the bad guy for being too aggressive! Sorry, I just happen to know the relevant basics of maths / probability theory. Valid in places? You're still arguining with me then? What I've I said that's invalid? Talk about being passive-aggressive.
