Did anybody watch the video of john brown speaking to the rabble outside ibrox.
Total incoherent imbecile and looked half pis sed. If this story of the last 3 months was on telly ,you would dismiss it as fantasy. Everyday some other penniless shady character comes out of the woodwork claiming they will save" rangers."only to WALK AWAY a week or 2 later. Wonder how many turn up for the start of their training today? |

It's detailed on the BBC Sport Scotland site.Under the circumstances seems fair enough to me given that most of their first team squad have walked and their debts to other clubs will have to be paid.

http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/top-football-stories/rangers-newco-to-play-in-division-one-report-1-2381430
CHARLES Green’s newco Rangers are set to drop down to Division One next season as part of a restructuring of Scottish football, according to reports. Having failed to gain enough support to replace the old Rangers FC in the Scottish Premier League, the newco could drop just down just one league to the First Division. BBC Scotland reports that senior figures in Scottish football are trying to push through a widely reported proposal to merge the SPL with the Scottish Football League in time the 2013/14 season. This new body would be called ‘The Scottish Professional Football League’. It is understood that clubs have received a letter from Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan, which follows talks with his SPL and SFL counterparts Neil Doncaster and David Longmuir respectively. Under the proposals, Rangers would play in the First Division next season - a move already opposed by Falkirk, Raith Rovers and Morton - and be replaced in the top flight by Dundee, who finished runners-up to Ross County last season. The SPL would buy the rights to include Rangers matches in the second tier as part of their current deal with broadcasters Sky and ESPN for a reported £1million, and a play-off system would be introduced immediately which would see one team from the top tier compete with three from the second for a place in the SPL. In addition, parachute payments to relegated clubs would be increased and changes would be made to the distribution model in the top two tiers. The proposals - which would need the backing of eight SPL clubs and a majority of SFL clubs - are likely to be unpopular with supporters of other teams in Scotland, many of whom have threatened to boycott matches next season unless a newco Rangers is relegated to the Third Division. |

well that kills that proposal stone dead. |
|
By:
Don't see how you can say that. The SPL clubs have only commented upon the Huns remaining in the SPL and only 3 SFL clubs have come out to say that they don't want them in Div.1.

"play-off system would be introduced immediately which would see one team from the top tier compete with three from the second for a place in the SP" WTF?? you only need to get in the first 3 now?? unbelievable fixing. They are so determined to get those cheats back into the SPL after just 1 year.
Integrity ??? **** that. It's all about money. Corrupt (unts |

Remember this is not just all about Rangers it is league construction which has been mooted with the ex First Minister Henry Mc Cleish Report.
...................................................... Rangers crisis will force reform, says Henry McLeish By David Currie BBC Scotland Former First Minister Henry McLeish believes the Rangers crisis will force the reconstruction of Scottish football, just as he recommended. McLeish proposed play-offs to the top flight and a pyramid system into the bottom tier in his 2010 report for the Scottish Football Association. "I am very hopeful that the shock to the system that was Glasgow Rangers has now put people in a position where we are at a tipping point," he said. "And these reforms will go ahead." Continue reading the main story “ Clearly the ethics, the credibility of the game have been badly shaken” A merger between the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League, which organises the three divisions below, is also now being proposed. And McLeish believes that Rangers' lurch towards liquidation and the creation of a new club at Ibrox has forced football authorities to think beyond their own interests for the good of the game. "You need a shock to the system because Scotland is a culture generally that finds change difficult - we look at lessons and still don't want to take them," he told BBC Scotland. "This is about the product on the pitch - about competitive football, more play-offs, a pyramid system, the two league set-ups coming together and, of course, a recalibration of the leagues themselves. "Everybody's got to agree that the game is bigger than any individual club, any individual league, the SFA, the SPL or the SFL. "We've got to collectively build a new future. I remain optimistic. If we can turn our minds to the big issues ahead then we'll have a game we can be proud of, a game in which we qualify for the European Championships and hopefully a World Cup." Rangers are likely to have their application to the SPL rejected It is looking like a "newco" Rangers will not win enough votes from other clubs to remain in the SPL, while those in Division One have started to come out in opposition of the Ibrox club being parachuted into the tier below. McLeish insists it is not for him to say in which division the Glasgow club should be playing next season. However, he said: "Clearly the ethics, the credibility of the game have been badly shaken by what's happened at Ibrox, so therefore there have to be punishments meted out. "That said, we have to realise that the club needs a home. "We need them back in Scottish football, so I think there's a balance to be struck. "I understand the frustrations of the fans and the chairmen. I understand their anger. I understand the need to teach Rangers a lesson. "I think we can do that. But, at the end of the day, let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater." SPL clubs have found themselves under pressure from their own fans to vote against Rangers remaining in the top flight and McLeish thinks supporters will emerge with greater power. "The fans have views about what they want in terms of reconstruction and the way ahead and often these have been ignored," he added. "If there's anything coming out of the Rangers issue, again it will be the fans having a secure base in what we do because football without fans just won't work. "And when you look at some of the crowds we are getting in the SPL then you can see that people are drifting from the game. "We've got to bring them back and that does mean, in terms of the financial aspects of the game, the fans should have a say in terms of how the clubs are run." .................................................. Chairmen of the SPL clubs have had to appease their support, which to an extent is being attempted with Rangers proposed relegation to Div 1. Whether they want to expose their clubs fiscally to more than one season without the Blues is debatable? As a Rangers man I think it is fair to say that we would just like to be playing in some Division next season, Div 3 would do for us. |
|
By:
Firstly "rangers" cannot be relegated to div 1.There is no such team.
Only 8 SFL teams need to vote no for it to be a non starter. The way its happening down ibrox way with all the in fighting, lack of funds etc i dont even see there being any club representing the old "rangers" next season. They are running out of time, money and new scams. |

As far as our future goes anything could happen. |

Shuda, It is what it is, which is a huge mess.
You sometimes wonder if the art of confusion is at work? |

If anything this is even more disgusting than them remaining in the SPL.
They are a newco. They wouldn't be getting relegated they would be getting promoted 2 divisions automatically. If it's a close finish to the season with the newco in Division one expect teams playing the newco to start with a one goal handicap to assist in their **** promotion. No one knows what state the newco would be in next season even in Div 1 but everybody takes it as a given that they will definetaly get promoted because they have to. As if the credibility of the SPL isn't damaged enough let's ruin any pretence the first division has as being a competition as well. |
|
By:
I don't see how they can be relegated either. If an SPL 2 is created then maybe they could apply to that and join the second tier that way?
That would mean Dumbarton missing out (I think) if they keep the 12-10-10-10 structure. Reorganisation of Scottish Football has to happen and is overdue, but it must be debated, well thought out and done for the right reasons. Some sort of rushed plan, with getting Rangers back to the top league as soon as possible at the heart of it, is not on. 3 years without Rangers would give time to see if the SPL can live within its means on the back of no old firm games. If it can, then a long term plan for a 16 team top league could become more realistic. |
|
By:
Shrewd.
As I understand it so far, The newco are required to pay all footballing debts of the old co before this can be a goer. They also have to drop all legal disputes on any sanctions imposed by the governing body. Rangers - newco - sevco whatever you want to call us, had only 13 players turn up for training at Murray Park today, how would we be a given for automatic promotion from Div 1 under the current transfer embargo? Would that be recinded? |

Mac, the 1st Div is not a competitive league. Either of the Old Firm's youth teams would walk away with that league. Newco would stroll back into the SPL in 1 season. As John92 says, that's not on.

My point is Mac there is no reason or rule for putting a new team in the 1st division. So the reason behind this from the media hacks is that it appeases Sky who are allegedly willing to go one year without old firm games. Now if this is all being done openly that the SPL TV deal rests on the outcome of a team being promoted what will happen if Rangers end up struggling etc do they change the rules again?
Rangers would be massive favourites but with the all that is going on I wouldn't guarantee they would be promoted by coming first but the powers that be and the media seem to be guaranteeing that Rangers will only be out the SPL for only a season. I wouldn't be surpised if Rangers won the 1st division the restructuring got put on hold and the SPL league remained with 12 teams. Rangers implode or are hampered by the punishments for EBT use and come 5th,7th,9th etc and we go to a 16?18/20 team league with the first 5/7/9 being promoted. There is no tranfers ban any more. The tribunal has to sit again to consider an alternative punishment. |
