Big back of City for this one - they are unstoppable at home imo.

Three words that make your post irrelevant imo.

chelsea have had very friendly fixtures so far since AVB was sacked. haven't looked likely to get a result in a big away game this season

home team is invariably always too big in these top 6 match ups

Chelsea look a different team under Di Matteo, Id imagine they have an incentive to do well here. (They have their own ambitions of getting into Top 4) I think they would accept a draw from here

21/3/12 Man City v Chelsea
12/12/11 Chelsea 2 - 1 Man City
20/03/11 Chelsea 2 - 0 Man City

Chelsea WWWWLW
City WLLWWW

Not much to separate these two teams, the only thing that would separate them easily would be the fact Chelsea recently overturned a massive deficit to beat Napoli and go through in the most prestigious competition in the world and City were knocked out of that cup and Europa.  Should be higher IMO.

They can be irrelevant if there are mostly reserves playing,or if it is seen as meaningless, but the United/Liverpool games they lost were ultra competitive matches with everyone available out there.

City are going to blow chelsea to pieces.

Robeto di matteo's wins against weaker sides will come to an end against City at the Etihad, Unstoppable.

It's not just personnel that differs, tobermory.

Attitude, tactics etc. make the whole thing irrelevant when considering a league fixture. Each to their own, but I exclude cup games from my thoughts when considering a bet on a league fixture.

I don't think City approched those games with different tactics or less commitment.
By:

I'd say it's a safe bet that they did.

During the game, a Manager's thought process will be very different for a knockout competition than a league game - no question.

There's plenty of examples of teams doing badly in the league that perform well in cups, and vice versa... it's a different psychology for the players - league position is irrelevant, previous results are irrelevant, no points up for grabs, goal difference irrelevant.

So many reasons why it's treated differently imo.

I can see Chelsea getting something out of this game. Confidence must be higher than it's been all season, whereas City seem to be getting the jitters a wee bit.

As for the match I'm thinking City will win it if they have any bottle at all, It's time to start showing some, i believe they will.

I wouldnt be backing City here Chelsea are flying and everybody is fit ,under Di Matteo they are like a new team .

Great post. Spot on.

A month ago City would have been 1.7 for this, has that much changed for them to be 2.0? No. 2.0 is too big. City at home are definitely too big a price.

Evens for a team with a 100% home record and every motivation to win is a superb price.

think teams have every motivation to win every game dont you?
By:

When: 20 Mar 12 11:17
No.  Often happy to draw.  If Man City were 4 points ahead, a draw would be okay.  4 points behind, a win becomes more important as the title goes out of their hands.

Is that difficult to understand?
