Simple solution is to set a weekly deposit and loss limit.

yea now that I look back on it... it was pure anger and just relentless restless feeling. I'm better now just smoked a dobbie as well. I think better for some reason after I smoke up. I look back reading what I wrote here... some of it was un called for saying such things is not nice especially on a forum where it's about football. People might have a weird opinion about me. Sorry about that.

I'm setting a loss limit as I hardly deposit much unless it's winnings... so do I just type in the number... does it also apply to sports betting?

Where in Zambia do you live Douche? If your playing Fifa 12 while not paying attention to your bets, then it's your own fault if you lose, however I am pretty sure your talking complete and utter b0ll0x.... Plain

In Lusaka,... of course I was playing fifa... it's a 50 over match... I went in during the 7th over... thought I'll Start watching from the final power play around 35th over...I normally do something else while betting on a 50 over match as I lack the patience to watch Ball by Ball

but you were on top of the world recently and flying if I recall? You must be young as this is a f****** hard and cruel game. There is a big diff between being a punter and being a degenerate gambler.Maybe you'll work it out before having a family and responsibilities towards others rather than yourself. Not harsh or cruel, this is actually a kindly prompt regarding your future.

I know exactly what you are talking about ph... each word. I just don't understand why despite knowing all this I still somehow don't learn and chase. I guess I should seriously convince my mind that I can take decisions even during tough times and come out successfully

glad it was taken as intended, gambling is a hard and often lonely lifestyle.96% I would guess lose affordable amounts or just get battered, stealing, borrowing or cheating their next stake money. When asked for a tip I always say " if you don't gamble already then don't start". Logically specialise in one or two sports and don't play just because somethings on the telly.

yea I only do cricket sometimes but football is my sport... have had plenty of success since joining betfair and I'm capable of winning. I would do soo much better if I can save up more money for the following day... as sometimes goals get dried up but I go in search for more and end up losing what was deserving earned the day before... the thought process instantly changes and my mind demands for an answer as to why I blew away hard earned profits and from there usually it takes over me and the down fall starts... this a little scenario of how if I lose and begin to chase...

@ SrgtDouche. I think you are brave to admit your loss, if we were being honest, all of us have taken some bad knocks at some point, maybe not to the degree you have lost but its all relative.

At the end of the day Srgt, no one has died, life goes on and this time nxt week you will be betting/trading again. If you enjoy it AND can afford it, then go for it man, but use this experience as a lesson not to chase losses, easy to say but difficult to actually do. GL mate Cool

Dude, get on your feet! This week I lost 2700 that I had earned in February. There's life beyond gambling. Just make sure you don't bet money that has not been earned here. The more you deposit, the more you lose. Remember that winning teams do lose too.

Just so you know, I reached almost 3000€ with just 50€. I am 500€ now and will be back to 3000€ just to get drunk with monster bets again :D

Hey, Srge, we've all been there. What I do is this: open up the My Account and do a P/L for the last month or three months or whatever. It always shows a profit, no matter how bad the hit. You can say to yourself, 'Yeah, the system's working in the long run,' and then just concentrate on getting it back, bit by bit. (Of course if it's not in profit in the long run, that's a different story.)

Maybe lower the stakes. With just a £200 liability, it's easy to write it off when things go belly-up. If the liability is a grand, then the panic can start the chasing and that ends only one way.

Good luck, man.

omg i can mirror this story almost exactly.....

started with £40 on the 14 Jan 2012, ran it up to 2k on football, tennis and cricket, £1.1k cashed out and £900 bank then lost £637 laying NZ to get 275 runs vs SA on 29th Feb. When NZ started the innings so well, I panic traded and backed them to get 275 with a massive red on under 275. Then wickets fell and I couldn't bail myself out.

Deposited £1k of my profits again and made £800 in a single day trading tennis. Then boom 2nd March lost £737 backing Aus to beat SL in an ODI. Wickets falling meant I couldn't bail out.

Deposited profits again and turned £900 into £1800 on Sat 4th March on football then lost £1500 on the Barca vs Sporting game that evening after panic trading after the Pique red card and Sporting goal, and then lumping £700+ on 2-1 correct scoreline after Keita scored, then Barca got the 3rd goal.

Following that turned £200 into £1070 in 4 days! Then cricket was my nemesis again lost £940 in total on the 3rd ODI final between SL and Aus. Could have easily traded out for a green after both SL's start and near the end, but wanted to chase losses, and felt certain SL would chase down the low total so didn't trade out when I had the chance, or take a much smaller red.

Cliff Notes:

Run small amount up to large amount very quickly
Lose huge on ODI cricket late at night/early morning
Make back all of huge losses in a single day
Lose huge on ODI cricket late at night/early morning
Make back huge losses in a single day
Lose huge on Barca that same evening, could have taken much smaller red
Make back huge losses in just 4 days
Lose huge on ODI cricket late at night/early morning
In the process of running small amount to big again.....

Good advice and I'm understand where you are coming from. I will consider lowering my stakes and still enjoying the game.

Do you think you are the first person to lose more than he could afford gambling?

Either man up or take up knitting FFS.
