Clark would be a bizarre appointment - failed (according to the Chairman) at a League One club and is expected to keep a struggling side in the Premier? Shades of Brian Laws...
By:
Would be bizarre. They make it a point to mention they're not looking for novices and they get the biggest novice on the board.
By:
Shades of AVB...
By:
I'm sure that Clark would be delighted to be compared to AVB.
By:
Operating at a different level of course.
It would basically be a punt on a relatively untested manager who had become flavour of the month on the back of some overrated achievements. |
By:
It would be an almighty gamble.
At this stage, Wolves need results. A new philosophy, long term plan, etc would be less likely to work immediately, by which time they are relegated and in one of the hardest leagues to get out of, if not the hardest. |
By:
Clark didn`t fail - set a league record for unbeaten games
By:
In League One...
By:
Huddersfield are 7 points off automatic promotion.
Another tweet from that DaisyCutter feed claiming the source is Lee Clark directly. A little suspect, why would Clark give this person the scoop? Who knows. Now the name of Souness showing up. Circus this is. The Daisy Cutter @TheDaisyCutter1 @whoody02 Source is Lee Clark himself. Said he had meeting at Wolves this morning and everything has been agreed but the fine details. |

Sky Sports understands Wolves have asked Brighton permission to speak to Gus Poyet.
By:
Isn't that old news? Thought Brighton told them to f off already.
By:
If these rumours are true, then it would suggest that the Bruce option has been canned... but then you'd expect to see his odds move, even a little.
There's no chance Bruce would sit by waiting for the phone to ring after his second interview if he knew Wolves were still approaching others imo. |
By:
Not looking good for Bruce. Surely they would have appointed him if they really wanted him.
By:
This is ridiculous. Bruce, Curbs, Warnock, Clark, Poyet, Keane, Souness, Strachan, Solskjaer, Lambert, Walter Smith, etc etc.
How can you let your manager go at this point in the season and not have a suitable replacement or two lined up immediately. If you are one bad result away from parting with your manager surely you have already done the research on your next move. Judging by it this is definitely not the case. |
By:
Here comes Souness.
By:
And the names keep coming.
Tim Nash @TimNash1 Checking the Brian McDermott to #Wolves story at this end but a trusted source has had a good nod at the #Reading end that he's in frame. |
By:
I agree, Horangi.
As I said earlier - it's not an industry where you need such a stringent interview process. If you don't know anything about your prospective candidates then you shouldn't be in charge of a football club imo. |
By:
Dean Smith out to 400's now.
![]() |
By:
Terry Venables will get a mention at his rate!
By:
this
By:
Will be fitting if the new manager wasn't even listed in the market.
By:
Stop it, Horangi. Having laid £5k in total so far I'd be uncontrolable.
By:
Moxey n Morgan were at Anfield yesterday I heard, maybe tapping up Poyet?
By:
aye the 6-1 defeat must have impressed them.
By:
RT @SkySports: understands #Wolves have asked Brighton permission to speak to Gus Poyet >> Still 25/1 available bit.ly/ziELGV
By:
A media type who covers Wolves reported this a few days ago, claimed they were rejected. Perhaps giving it another go, as mentioned above they were at Anfield yesterday.
By:
Could be the first request was without really knowing Poyet's interest but maybe Wolves have since been made aware that Poyet really wants the job and they can force Brighton's hand
By:
Another jolly. Happy days.
By:
as a wolvs fan u can remove 3/4 of the names from the list
left with: holloway, souness, mcdermott, hughton, poyet, adkins, lambert. any thoughts? |
By:
poyet has said he really wants to manage in the prem, will be in it a very short time if he takes this job
By:
Gus is creeping up the table. Layed Bruce so need him to start slipping.
By:
Market definitely buying into the Poyet excitement. Totally baffled with this market, don't know what to do. Poyet a decent winner for me, had to lay a little at this level.
Still get the feeling they're going to have to settle for someone like Souness. |
By:
Souness?
Dear me - that would be a shocker after all these fun and games. |
By:
Did Curbs turn them down then? He was a massive favourite at the end of last week
By:
Souness has connections with David Morgan, fits the bill for a short term contract.
By:
BBC saying Curbs didn't agree about the future of the club.
Maybe curbs said he'd play long ball and just try to stay up each year, but the board want Champions League football? |
By:
im biased but thought he would have definitely kept them up, not sure about CL football though |
By:
especially after banning players from back heels and tricks at Charlton.
By:
Guy claiming comp is 2.5 million for Poyet. Says clubs didn't reach terms initially and not sure if Wolves will come back.
By:
Thats a lot of money, cant see them paying that
