Do you think that people want to give their methods away so that you can enjoy a "great thread" and compete with them for a share of the profits, Paul?

Are you seriously this numb?  Or on the wind up now?

Interesting Investor, my priority was making money from the start.  I am to bad a loser to do otherwise, but my inititial profits were small.

Yes Ice king, the 0.5 is an even more recent addition. I remember the discussions: why don't betfair add a 0.5 market. Some guy would say we already have one: 0-0. Yeah except that it doesn't settle for ages. 0.5 settles when there's a goal.

No doubt bigger than mine though cat? Laugh

I wonder how quickly I could run up  a £100 bank these days, but unfortunately I'll never know, as the opportunity cost of trying is too big!

Investor: a few weeks back you said you didn't like taking time off as you didn't like the thought of missing out.

Would you say you're addicted to betting?  Not in the usual sense where a degenerate pours every last penny into it despite having lost consistently, but in the sense that if you're not betting you think about it etc?

Doubt it Investor, my initial profits were negligible.  My point is that I would have quit before making a loss and I admire those who have had the b@lls to make a loss while learning the ropes and recoup it later.

You would have quit even if that loss was a piffling loss Cat?

Yes, in the beginning I had to see a short term gain.

Not really Rob, I am quite extreme in the time I spend on betting and betting related work, but I enjoy time off as well. I could take quite a lot of time off really, as on weekdays I only really 'need' to be at my computer in the evenings for the football. Of course the evenings are really the worst time to be working.

Some time ago I thought about the possibility of moving to South America, so that matches take place in the afternoon, leaving more room for hanging out socially in the evenings, but I scrapped that.

Moving to South America is a bit extreme Investor, What about Canada, move to Vanacouver and the matches will be in the morning
By:

Why did you scrap it?
By:

Ice, I like South/Central America though, very nice.

cat, I scrapped it for a variety of reasons, ties to UK/Europe being the main one.

compete with them for a share of the profits,

not share profits just see how we all do with the same methods, no harm done.

careful Rob you asked a question on a forum there, steady on!

Used to be on here too much really.  Was more a going full time and wanting to make sure I could definitely survive with this as a living thing, as opposed to being hooked on betting or owt.

It's now something of the reverse in that I find it all a bit dull and look for excuses not to work.  I certainly used to find it more exciting and take an interest in how my bets were doing while the event was taking place.  Half the time now I just check after the event with no clue as to what's happening.

One thing I try to make certain of is that I don't let it interfere with what I do socially and only work in evenings/weekends when I have nothing else on and so would be watching the match anyway.

So when you have big losses, don't you feel the need to bet more Rob? I don't mean chasing, just increasing your activity?

I spend too much time on here, but arguably it's been worth it.

Had to step back and think about stuff since I've been put on 50% PC though, not bet much really, heart not in it.

At least they told me I would be on 50% a few weeks ago, but my PC this week is still 20%..... ah well Laugh

I'll maybe just PM you about it in the morning or speak to you on another thread, Investor.  In short, no.

The yapping dog at my ankles is getting a bit tiresome, so I'll hand the thread over to him once more!

Night.

Just throw yourself of a virtual bridge and quit betting, you're absolutely hopeless and fail to absorb anything of worth.

McChicken, when they put me on 40%, I got about 3 weeks warning.

No bob, I have taken time off after really big losses in the past. I then tend to be really focused and do lots of betting after that. The times I tend to bet the most are either after big losses and subsequent time off, or when I'm making loads and hitting new highs.

These days it's more constant though.

But *why* would he be putting up arbs Bob!? If he wants to pull the wool over our eyes, it would be easy enough to come up with some fake bets - or to just post a fake amount.  You have absolutely no reason for believing he's putting up one side of his arbs.
By:

it's not just me Bobbin. one long term forumite pm'd me saying he arbs, then there's Smokes and another guy on here who think he simply arbs too. no prob if he does. he is too scared to answer the question though. quite pathetic really

Investor - how did the 35k loss the other day affect you. made it back and more since i assume?
By:

When: 09 May 12 00:50
Bob, why on earth would you care if he answers the question or not? 'Too scared' to answer the question?  If he was trying to deceive everybody, why wouldn't he just come back and lie by giving you a straightforward 'no'?? And how would you be able to believe him if he did say 'no'??

And how on earth would he be able to get bookmakers to take him on for the quantities he does?  Given the losses he's admitted to on here over the last few months, he would have been making a mint at his bookies if he was arbing. They wouldn't be taking his bets by now. I know you're being putting up to this by Smokes, but just drop it. This Rob Arbing theory makes no sense at all.
By:

hmm all he has to do is be honest and upfront. Simples!

do you know this character, Smokes? you've been around these parts longer than I
By:

When: 09 May 12 01:04
Nope. I don't know him. (I just know that the Rob's Arbing theory is so full of holes that it could sink in a droplet of water.)   To be honest, I don't know many people on the forum. I tend to remember the ones who say things that are useful and the ones who say things that are stupid and annoying. The rest just meld into one.  Knowing a bunch of people on a forum (most of whom are nothing like the people they claim to be) is a total waste of time. You'd be better off forgetting the daft theories (Rob's arbing, who has multiple usernames etc.) and working on improving your betting judgement instead.
