Yes Brentford. I don't think it was the Charlie factor, he hadn't been playing much recently and most fans felt he wasn't up to it if we want to aim higher than mid-table. You just played much better than us all over the pitch and it was the worst I've seen us play for a long time , though I don't go every week. I'm glad you like the ground, I love it, so full of history and character, I far prefer it to the new stadiums. Anyway, tip was appreciated, I read the thread this morning and got on at 2/7 with Blue Sq for tonight's game.

Sorry Morpeth if you backed us.
It was similar to last season, they came for a point and they were well happy at the final whistle.
We really did miss Robbo pulling the strings, and Showumni is obviously not fit. Couple that with our manager refusing to play two up front, despite havinng our other (6 feet 2 inches, outhouse) striker playing as a wide man.

Anyway, back to Free Money, hopefully.

International football returns tomorrow, but it looks like the bookies have seen their arse over these type of bets.

I've been monitoring the odds for the last day or so, and most, if not all firms are not offering these types of markets.

There's four games that interest me tomorrow.

San Marino v Sweden needs no explanation, but sadly no one except Betfair have priced this up yet, and not even sure they will.
These types of markets are notoriously for low liquidity on Betfair, so not sure if I'll get any joy. Saying that, I wouldnt expect the odds to be as good as they was on Friday, even though they're at home, and it's a lower ranked nation.

Spain v Liectenstein.

Here's somethnig I bet some of you didn't know. Liectenstein have only lost two of their last six, and have actually found the net in four of those six games.

But b^gger that, they're away to Spain, they're not going to score in Logrono.
Sadly only Hills have priced this up so far, and go skinny @1.1 !1/10.)

If you can find better tomorrow it has to be worth a punt, or stick it in a double, or even a treble.

Holland U21's host Luxembourg U21's, and though Luxembourg found the net in their opening group game, they are pretty hapless at this level. They only scored two in the last campaign, and one of those was against Wales.

The only one that is priced up by a few firms is Macedonia v Andorra.

Andorra are poor, but they're no San Marino, and though they lose, they don't always get hammered.
I'm actually a tad wary about Macedonia winning this, despite Andorra on a 32 losing streak, and 24 straight on the road.

Their only ever competitve win was against Macedonia, but that was a long time ago.
Though they've scored in two of their last six, both away (Ireland and Moldova), it's quite a rare occurence for them.

The reason I'm not 100% sure about Macedonia winning is Andorra can often hold out for 45 mins, an hour, and occasionaly longer.
Couple this with Macedonia's lack of goals, just 2 in 8 games since they won 2-0 in Andorra.
Saying that, they're OK defensively, only Ireland have scored more than one against them in the last 12 months, and they only lost 1-0 in Moscow at the weekend.

That was John Toshack's first game in charge, so I'm guessing he wants to impress the home fans, and make sure they don't fall down the rankings which effects their future group rankings.
Saying that, Tosh was poor at Wales, and had an habit of not getting on with players, and is very opinionated. So at his age is he unlikely to have changed.

Still, I can't see Andorra scoring.

Macedonia to win to nil is 1.44 (4/9) but I'm going to be more conservative and back Macedonia clean sheet @ 1.33 (1/3) with Paddy Power or Corals.

Are you already for this?

Seriously?

Are you sure?

Then head over to Billy Hills and check nis stupid price on Holland U21's to win to nil.

He goes 1/100 for the Dutch to win, but a bonkers 4/7 to win to nil.
That screams "back me" unless they know something we don't.

As I said yesterday, the Sapin price is very skinny, but throw that in a double with the Dutch youngsters and you got yourself an 8/11 bet.

And my fun correct score treble is as follows:

Holland U21's v Luxembourg U21's

4-0 @ 7
5-0 @ 7.5

Macedonia v Andorra

1-0 @ 7.5
2-0 @ 5.5

Spain v Liectenstein

5-0 @ 5.5
6-0 @ 7.5

Part Two of the correct score treble up to.

I also did another correct score treble, with Macedonia 1-0, Sweden 5-0 and both trebles are riding on Spain 5-0 & 6-0.

25 mins in and still 0-0, and my concern is the starting XI isn't the "expected" one I saw earlier today.
Plus Liectenstein haven't took any real batterings for a while.

It is the best team in the world though, so I'd really love a couple of goals before half time.

I've been thinking about this today in regards to club football.

It is a lot harder, so I guess there will be no chance of keeping up my current form, but I might just have a pick for Thursday, and at least one on Friday.

So the Thread headline of "Free Money" will no longer apply.

Both are around Even money, though I think you have to admit, even my previous picks were all odds on, there was some outstanding value amoungst them.

Got to go out to play 5-a-side in a moment, but I'll try and post tomorrow's pick later this evening.
By:

When: 07 Sep 11 18:50
Kev, I can't see how it can be transferred to club sides, it relies on total mismatches (obv like games with San Marino involved) which you simply dont get in the league, even Man United v Swansea there will be opportunites for the visitors to get on the scoresheet although they may lose heavily.
By:
TRFC Kev
When: 07 Sep 11 22:17
Modjadji, It's a fair point, but the odds will reflect that.

Spain were 1.1 to win to nil last night, I've found a couple of League games at Evens, and thats in the both teams to score market, so you have two chances.
Hence the strike rate won't be as important as backing the real shorties.

We all have different viewpoints on value, and I'm no oddsmaker or mathematician, but virtually all the clean sheet/win to nil bets within this thread were real value, I believe. Some of them outstanding value, hence the Free Money title thread.
And we all know how many threads go t1ts up on here when someone mentions free money.

I know I should really quit while I'm ahead as far as putting them in the public domain, but we're all adults and I wouldn't expect anyone to follow unless they actually fancied the bets themselves.

The ones I have put up over the last week were not rocket science. Lets not kid oursleves, all I've done is tipped odds on.
But I suspect there are people who don't play these markets, and all I've done is gently nudge them in that direction, and it's up to them to decide if they fancy it and punt them.

BTW - Just looking at some quick stats from last season shows that though teams like Swansea will get chances at places like Man Utd, I was suprised at how many clean sheets occured.

Premier League: 43.67%
Serie A: 50%
Ligue 1: 49.73%

As for tomorrow's pick:

Singapore League. 12.30pm

Tampine Rovers v Tanjong Pagar

Best defence v lowest scorers
Tampine have conceded just 19 in 23 games, though 11 of those were at home.
However rock bottom Tanjong have just nne goals in their 23 games.

Tampine have shipped some goals recently, but to be fair to them, three goals were in a cup game against the League leaders.
They've kept three clean sheets in their last five leage games.

But the thing that gives me hope is Tanjong's record. Nine goals speaks for itself, but recent form is telling. They haven't scored their last 6 league games.

Tampine are a best priced 1.25 to win the game.
B365 go 1.73 for Tampine to win to nil, yet go 2 (Evens) in the both teams to score market (No), so you get 0-0 thrown in for good measure, not to mention a shock 1-0 away win.

A nice Even money winner today.

I've had one lined up for Friday for a couple of days, but after some research I have actually come up with three bets.
If we can get two winners we should make some profit, but obviously I'd love all three to come in.

Lech Poznan v Wisla Krakow. Poland, 7.30pm

Lech Poznan conceded just six goals at home last season, and they've contined their
great defensive record this season, winning their only home league game to nil.
In fact they've had three clean sheets in their five games this season.
They even took time during the international break to beat a Polish lower league side 4-0.

Tomorrow they host Champions Wisla Krakow, who have scored just three goals in their five League games.
They've failed to score in their last two domestic games, and before that they had two 1-0 wins, one in Europe,
one domestically.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up 0-0, or 1-0 either way.

Bet:

Both teams to score: NO
1.91 with Bwin
Next best, 1.83 with Paddy Power
Betfair current odds is 1.93, but nothing traded so far, so hopefully it will liven up nearer to kick off.

Preston v Yeovil, League One, 7.45pm

I have first hand experience of Yeovil, having watched them last weekend.
In an away performance that mirrowed last season's corresponding fixture, they came for a goalless
result, and they got it. They showed very little ambition, playing 5 in midfield.
Their results bare this out. Four away games, and just one goal.
They've also failed to score in their last two home games, and must be ruing the loss of Dean Bowditch to
MK Dons.

Preston come into the game on the back of three straight wins, with three clean sheets.
If Yeovil show the same lack of ambition as they did last week, they'll be hoping to come home from
Lancashire with a point, but Preston are rightly favourites, and should win.

Bet:

Home clean sheet: YES
2.2 with Bet 365 (Better on here)

If you're slightly more cautious you can play the both teams to score market.
Best Price: 1.95 with S James
Next best: 1.91 with Sky, Boyles, Paddy & Hills

Derry City v UCD, Ireland. 7.45pm

I keep a keen eye on the Irish league, and Derry City have a great defensive record.
They have conceded just three goals in 13 games at home.
And prior to their 1-1 draw away to fellow title chasers, Sligo last time out, Derry had kept 6 clean sheets in
7 games.
UCD are not exactly shy in front of goal, and average a goal a game, and have scored 12 on their 14 road trips,
but more recently most of these goals have come against bottom half sides.
Derry's superb defensive record should see them keep a clean sheet.

Bet:

Both teams to score: NO
1.75 with Unibet
Next best: 1.73 with Bet 365

If you're feeling more adventurous you can have 1.91 Derry to win to nil with B365
