Don't read the Mirror often and haven't got a view on this guy one way or the other. But from what I've read his columns were comically bad and I certainly wouldn't say he's a "tremendous tabloid journalist".

Most sport journalism takes everything pathetically seriously - Dereks column just gives some info with a few gags - I usually laugh when I read it, I can't understand the condemnation either
and who really cares if his tips win or lose long term - you would have to be pretty sad to work it out over the long term, and an idiot to work it out over the short term |
