Boro boss in challenge to rising star Rhys Williams
Aug 12 2009 by Eric Paylor and Anthony Vickers, Evening Gazette GARETH Southgate today challenged Aussie all-rounder Rhys Williams to make a niche for himself in midfield. In fact Southgate believes that Williams has the talent to carry on where Matthew Bates left off. Both are Academy players who have been pushed forward from defence, and both have good engines which are perfectly suited to the midfield role. Southgate said: |

Of course, yes! What was i thinking.
Night match, both set of fans fulled up on booze, could be interesting. Fancy Forest away with it been a midweek night match. |
By:
Fancy going**
By:
was that a question or a statement ?
andy wont be up for that i wouldnt have thought, as its quite abit further, so and i wont be fussed either, with the journey length, not for a CC game possibly in the league |
By:
I want to make the trip to the Forest Ground either in the league or the cup. A ground i really want to go to.
By:
Evening Gary - I trust you got on my five-fold this evening? :D
By:
well as i say, ill be looking into going in the league, even if we have to get the train down
but it could be dodgy on a week day night, and with a reserve side, im not fussed the problem is this seasons aways could get dodgy as andy is pressing me to get jonny to drive, when i know he doesnt really want to :( |
By:
Evening alex, i cant say i did, i didnt have any bets tonight :0
what were you on ? |
By:
Alex69 12 Aug 10:08
5 Selections Chosen 1 Sweden v Finland (Backing Sweden @ 1.62) 2 Estonia v Brazil (Backing Brazil @ 1.17) 3 Azerbaijan v Germany (Backing Germany @ 1.07) 4 FYR Macedonia v Spain (Backing Spain @ 1.34) 5 Faroe Islands v France (Backing France @ 1.03) Not bad! All short odds admittedly, but at least it came in :) |
By:
well you didnt take too many risks there ;) but even sweden could have proved to be dodgy
as singles, i guess they are pointless, but when you have them in an accum, they add up ill be putting a few accums on for this weekend, looking forward to it what do you make of cattermole ? |
By:
Good signing, providing he doesn't get sent off too much, which is the big ask I guess. He was good for Boro if memory serves?
By:
he was ok, at the time, we seemed to be aiming higher with the likes of alves and tuncay coming in, so deep down most boro fans were happy with letting Lee and Boateng go, but in hindsight, they were part of the reason we got relegated, my mate lives next door to where he is in Stockton atm
how much did he go for ? |
By:
Hi fellow Boro fans
There is no way Catts is a £6m (£8m with add ons) footballer - I had to laugh. At least we get another £0.5m from the deal. He couldn't get into Boro's first xi 18 months ago, he missed about 8 games last season through suspensions when it did play regularly. I would say bottom end Prem player. He does try and is a decent tackler, but little idea going forward. He also avoided injuries last season, unlike most Boro players though! There was also off the ball problems with him banned from drinking in parts of Teesside by publicans and it was believed he used to tell his mates the Boro team the night before games. I imagine he will be back with his old mates now. It would not surprise me if he came back to the Boro on loan in 12 months time. GB - £12 for Scunnie tickets - are you a concession then? I am off to Swansea the team need me - I am a supporter not a plastic fan of who ever is near the top of the Premiership or flavour of the month because some Arab/Russian/Yank has bought them and you don't desert your loved ones when they get ill, even though they go off the rails a bit at times do you? I do divorce gambling and supporting however. I have laid them on promotion and chamionship title at 3.0 and 8.0 respectively, those odds were too short when 10 teams have a decent chance of both. The key is going to be the quality of players who are brought in over the few weeks, as 4 or 5 will surely come in, once Tuncay and Alves are sold to boost a small squad. |

good read that Analyst
and good to see you getting to swansea, we need the fans, sadly im unable to go this weekend, and plus swansea, would be a very difficult journey for me my mate got our tickets and they were £12 each, were all 20, so i think the reduction is for under 21's |
