BORO are bracing themselves for another call from Martin ONeill this week. The Aston Villa boss, who already has Stewart Downing in the bag, ran the rule over Boro defenders David Wheater and Robert Huth on Friday night. With Ashley Young continually linked with a £20m move to Chelsea, ONeill could soon have lucrative funds to back any offer. Gareth Southgate does not want to lose either of his two main defenders, having publicly backed both of them during the summer. The Boro boss insisted very early in the summer that Wheater was not for sale. However, being English, progressive and good, Wheater is exactly the kind of player who would appeal to ONeill. beckford was on loan at carlisle a couple of seasons back..and from what i saw of him..he was no better than average...now..even allowing for him having improved a bit...he is no superstar and i wouldnt be paying silly money for him!
