i cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would see fit to post a 23 thousand pound loss and pass it off as nothing, what on earth do you get from doing that? especially on a day when the poorest people in the country are being made even poorer. strange thread, I can only assume he lost 23k on betfair on purpose and forgot to post his 23k+ profit elsewhere? are you trying to drum up sympathy? shall we have a whip round? or can you afford  to lose such an incredible amount.

very peculiar thread.

Yes, Investor. You're so inconsiderate. Next time the poor are being made poorer, have the decency to post a win.

im just saying i dont get it, i dont understand the need to post such high losses, you're basically saying, im super rich and i can afford to lose this, i don't understand why people feel the need to post their daily earnings, you don't see people in normal jobs posting their wage slips every week to compare notesConfused i don't see the point that's all.

Ayres - you could not come accross as more bitter if you tried. He can do what he wants. I bet if he was posting high wins you'd be like "oh give some of it away on the  day when the poorest people in the country are being made even poorer." Douchebag.
By:

No at all mate, you couldn't have got me more wrong, i'm the least bitter person I know, high wins or high losses it's irrelevant to me, the point I am making is I don't understand why people post private information, you don't sit in a pub with people and start discussion down to the penny exactly how much you've earned this week or month,Confused I have alot of respect for anyone that can make gambling pay btw I have no idea what a douchabag is.
By:
supersmith
When: 02 Apr 13 14:45
lol - well its not like anyone knows who he is so why does it matter whether he posts the private information? I think its good to see a high-stake punter be honest with both his wins and losses which investor has been over long-term!

AyersRock,

If you're doing this for a living, it's quite difficult to share a lot of the highs/lows with friends and family. Much easier/safer to post on an anonymous forum. I used to not tell the girlfriend (now wife) anything about how much I was making/losing on a daily basis, but now I keep her in the loop. Other members of my family/friends, I don't tell anything beyond a very broad outline.

A number of us have been posting here for years, and it's interesting to know how others are getting on.

dunno, contrarian - if I work all day and end up about £1.50 up I take great delight in telling my friends.

if I say "I've made a large three figure sum today", they know what's coming...

I agree with Contrarian2. Us gambers...erm I mean, traders, need some kind of verification that there are other like minded people out there. V few of my family/friends actually know I make money on here. They assume I work in I.T from home, which is partly true I guess. Its good to share the highs & lows with others even if that means sharing on a forum, otherwise it can become v isolating. Just my modest, honest opiniooooon.

yes agreed, but I've never seen you post any pnl figures Contrarian? :) Investor just seems to post his losses nowadays.

AyersRock, "the poorest people in the country" have been given a substantial increase in personal tax allowance by this government, next year it will be up to 10k (of tax free income).

Trevh,

Yeah, I used to post my figures a lot in my early days (2003-2006).

Nowadays, it makes more sense for me to keep a lower profile in that regard. Wink

Well yesterday was yet another losing day! the last kick of the Barca game was a goal that cost me £13.5k, which leaves me about £13.5k down for this week so far. I've only ever had 3 losing weeks in a row once before, perhaps things will improve a bit over the rest of the week.

Well, I'm not superrich, I just have a healthy appetite for risk. Geometric growth over the years has meant both wins and losses have continually gotten bigger.
Posting wage slips every week would be a bit boring, as it would usually be roughly the same! It's the unpredictable nature of the game that makes things interesting, as you can't accurately judge future gambling winnings based on past ones (although I would guess pistachio will carry on winning almost every day Laugh )

I checked my account on the hills which has come to be my main account now.
--account was opened april '12
--around 150 bets placed
--Calculated the P&L // Deposits minus (Withdrawals + What's in the account)
found out i'm £5.20 down with a high of +£1.2k and a low of around -£800

i'm confident for the weeks to come, though Grin

Well done pistash, another solid month for March! Southc, an unbelievable month, didn't realise you were hitting highs as high as that, good work. Hard times continue for coach, a little hit for Smithy (Laying Liverpool is normal a good practice, ha) and a mental few weeks for the investor. How do you refocus and get back on track after hits like that??

After my disaster of Feb, i started March ok, then took a blow on a Spurs game after overstaking bigg-ish again (will i ever learn?!) but then steadied the ship for a mediocre month. Started April slow too, the goal with the last kick off the PSG Barca game hurt a little bit, just trying to fight the temptation to chase it back and instead, trade my way back with slow small consistent profits like i was doing the 12 months prior to Feb 2013!!!

This game is hard Happy
