As happyhibee says, the long leg formats rewards players who rarely throw a bad leg. Taylor has less troughs than anyone else, so although other's purple patches now seem better than him, his strong steady style sees him as virtually unbeatable over long legs formats so far.

What was the score in players championship between them please?

Yes but until we see someone really take it to him at the Matchplay you can't really say it.

The stats are there.

He's won 3 out of 8 world titles over the long sets format. He's won 7 of the last 8 Matchplays over the long legs format. That's not a coincidence.

Enjoy the match Hib?

Would you agree with me that this last year Ando has finally found the drive and desire to win at the highest level that possibly wasn't quite there before?  There's a few other players put there who should now be doing the same.

na serious note , he will be challenging for most titles next year as people miss too much against him

terrific Alun delighted he got his head in front eventually

I think having the kid and losing his brother had an effect on him. Knuckled down and thought I'm going to work as hard as I can

Anderson won 10-6. But there's a lot of difference between best of 19, 21 at those type of events than the best of 31, 33, 35 legs seen at the latter stages of the Matchplay and Grand Slam.

It's easy to see.

There's only been 7 editions of the Players Championships, Taylor won 3, and all of them were when the format was to some degree longer than it is now. In the last 7 editions of the Matchplay, Taylor won all of them, and the competition Lewis, MvG etc. have been there for the years, they just can't beat him over the ultra long legs format.

Fek sake male hardly a tourney all year on that format. Fek it wel make it first to 100 I'm sure wel find another player in the world that will suit most.

First to 3 sets or 5 games wel scrap that to and make that 50

Like asking usain bolt and mo farrow to race what suits who. All feckin irrelevant

You said legs I gave you players championship now you want the longest format you can find
By:

I said the long legs format. You compare the most prestigious long sets format, ie. the World Championships with the most prestigious long legs format, the Matchplay. That's the logical thing to do.

Obviously if you make it best of 11 legs like it is in some of the majors early rounds, anyone can lose over that distance.
By:

When: 05 Jan 15 00:02
if it was first to 30 or 40 Phil would just win even more convincingly

Barry hearn will read this and make all next year's world's first to 60 legs to suit caravan man Excited

Barry Hearn is the one who probably is responsible for shortening most the formats to make them more TV friendly. Just the World Championships and The Matchplay seem immune from this meddling. Probably rightly so as the 2 most prestigious tournaments.

he best change the board first , that 180 bounce out is surely a first in a world championship

Was Anderson virtually the only player who had repeated bounce outs of the 20 sector this last fortnight?
By:
ccmac1975

Il tell you one thing. First to ten legs eg last month. Or first to 7 sets is a long enough format to sort the best. If you can't see that I give up. Yea first to 5 bit of a lottery. And yeah the one your talking about he's ace but you could argue double that format again and suits someone else. Gets a bit silly
By:

But it's true. Different formats are to different players likings.

The bounce outs the whole tourney have been shocking. Faster throwers seem to had more. Smith had a lot to I recall. And huybrechs jenkins Lewis I think had some
