Sadly that looks like it for the Tour.

Immediately swelling could be a metatarsal. Let’s just hope it is the body’s way of protecting the bone and it is not broken just badly bruised. They will need to just ice it for now

Another poor shot,no excuses. India giving it away again.

Pitch is slow enough for Beefy to slap a few if he gets his eye in.

It sure whether to stick or twist here.

Runs on the board even 300 might be ok on this but w3 are nowhere near 300 yet and the wicket is quite docile.

Probably best to cash out.

Old Trafford is an ugly looking ground. Designed to make or save money first and foremost.

I wish they could start all over again.

Decided not to cash out. These two look quite comfortable. 400 is still” possible. The pitch will be swept and rolled in the morning.

Quite an arm wrestle this one. England have to bat last and there is a chance of rain on Sunday.

Not sure where this goes but happy to be in India with runs on the board.

England bowling attack has to be the worst they’ve had, can’t see them winning next 2 matches, they’re unable to get 20 wickets.

Archer, living of his 15 minutes of fame and speed 2/3 years ago.
Woakes ,the best, was 4 string to Anderson and broad.
Carse,new lad,basic medium pacer
Stokes,an all rounder 4 th bowler, not the answer.
The spinner looks the weakest one we ve had,
The fact root bowled on first day, tells you all you need to know.

Devoid of altering tactics, they just run up and repeat.

Think broad and Anderson playing for years, stopped future talent having the chance to break through.

On the massive queues,late entrance.

Every bag is search, basically to stop schools,so you buy beer inside.

Web site says food ,soft drinks ok,but on entrance,no cans allowed of soft drinks.

It’s a long day,so most people bring a bag,food etc.
Half English don’t drink, most Indians don’t drink.but they want the beer spend like racing.

But a really weird strange rule, which is crazy, causes problems and is dangerous.

In the massive scaffold temporary stand,
Which is the cheapest,if 68 is cheap, they call it the party stand.

Letting customers know,it’s singing, drinking type stand.

The rule is,

Drummmmm rolllllll

No beer snakes, yes I ll repeat,no beer snakes.

The cups are paper.

If a beer snake is made, and many were.

Stewards charge into the stand to snatch the snake, and throw out anyone trying to hinder this.

So thrown out for picking up a paper cup and passing it on.

The snakes are harmless,it’s recycling, keeps the stand tidy,a bit of fun during a long day.

The stewards stopping this, cause chaos, anger, far more disruptive than the snake.

They’re happy to sell you loads of beer then throw you out if you have a laugh ,cleaning the stand and collecting the cups.

Utter madness.

So a cheap crappy stand, sold a ticket at top price, plus beer, tell you it’s the party stand, but no one is allowed to party.

This is treating people like crap.

50/60 year old men, perfectly well behaved got thrown out for just passing the snake on.no fights,no aggression.

I have to say this issue pee’s me off too.

Queues at Lords and The Oval are not a problem. Lords you can bring alcohol in. A bottle of wine or Champagne or 4 cans of beer ( I think ).

I think The Oval has stopped this.

I have heard in India they even stop you bringing in bottled water. That in my view is criminal. I am pretty sure they don’t let you bring in food either.

This has to stop.

There are cap doffers and forelock tuggers on this forum who don’t want the rich taxed for fear of driving them away. I also believe the Lords Test Match should be televised by the BBC.

India tickets were around £160 in London.

Because of this I will have a breakfast in a local pub with 2 or 3 beers before going into the Oval.

I remember one game at the Oval. 5th day v Michael Carke’s Australia. I couldn’t get decent tickets but was quartered in the Harleyford Road stand. I have never in all my life seen better picnics and more Champagne corks popped. ( this was when you could bring in one bottle per person ). My picnic was cheese, salami, olives and bread from Sainsbury’s which I thought more than adequate. Some of the hampers that came out were fo sho from Fortnum’s, Harrods and top kwality foreign deli’s. Wonderful stuff.

We have to put an end to the greed culture.

8. Can I bring in food or a cool bag?
[i]
Of course! You’re welcome to bring food, including in a cool bag, as long as:

The bag is within the permitted size range
It doesn’t contain anything prohibited (like glass bottles, cans or alcohol)

2. What kind of bag can I bring?

You’re welcome to bring one small bag per person. It must be no bigger than 18” x 12” x 12” (45cm x 30cm x 30cm) - about the size of a regular backpack or rucksack.

Doesn’t seem to bad except they are not really checking for bombs they are checkin* for alcohol.

Plastic bottles allowed so that is ok

Pants down.

Sadly it is a broken metatarsal as feared. There is a chance he may bat but I would hope that he will not be allowed by management.

Huge blow for India but they usually rise to the occasion. Shardul looked untroubled yesterday. The new ball of course will be key. Archer was bowling well within himself yesterday and lacked his Factor X. Today is a different day. I think Khamboj can bat a bit. The other two can hold an end and sundar of course is decent. India really need to bat on beyond lunch and well towards tea or they will be in trouble

I think I ought to cash out but am having trouble doing it.

Sorry to hear about your day at Old Trafford comingupthehill.

Pretty much sums up stewardship at most events today.

What on earth is wrong with a beer snake or a beach ball in the crowd and folk letting go for a while.

Enough trouble and strife around as it is so let the punters enjoy.

Still a fair bit of movement for the bowlers. 300 on the board is looking good for India. I think the betting is wrong at the moment 2.24 England 2.8 India.
By:
Whisperingdeath
When: 24 Jul 25 12:17
I cashed out at 2.84 and I am nit unhappy about that.

I think India gave away at least 2 wickets plus Pant.

I think England will struggle against  the new ball but could also score well when the sun comes out.

India could do with batting 30 more overs

Really stupidly as it will affect the other batsman. Better to come in at Xl and have a thrash from the crease.

Should not have been allowed to bat. Shame on India.

Maybe but he can’t run. Let Sundar have a bat. The other two can hang around. Pant in last first a thrash. Common sense.

shame on rules i say, you can get a replecement for concussion, but not for this, in a way this is spoiling the game,
By:

Shame on the players, not the rules
They took the piss with the runner rule and it was taken away
The concussion replacement is fairly new & is due to the fact it is life threatening

Rules are fine.

Problem with rugby is so many subs so tired fat blokes can be replaced. Better to see then huff and puff

By:

When: 24 Jul 25 12:55
I would imagine it is already!

The only thing I can say is there will be wear and tear in England bowlers and the pitch.

I still th8nk if he was going to bat he should have come out last and let Sundar play his game.

When: 24 Jul 25 13:09
We can only guess how much pain he's in but imagine he probably insisted to get out there , when i see a top notch player injured at the crease my immediate memory is Maxwell and Greenidge and to the carnage they created on one leg , hope he stays there for a while and watching him get 50 would see a standing ovation i'd imagine.
By:
Hayden
When: 24 Jul 25 13:23
We'll know if the pain is too much as he won't then come out after lunch but i'd say best for him and the team is to use his talent to hang around and hopefully get near 400 before he starts swinging , broken bones , car crashes and such he's a headline maker so reckon between them all there's method in their perceived insanity.

India giving this England bowling attack a chance now, they might get a wicket against one legged players.

Barstool,I had a great day, beer snakes just a trivial issue, moved round the ground all day sat in 4 stands, mind  you messed up by sitting in the alcohol free stand, but we lasted the over at least.
