Be a while yet i reckon before you can even think about ruling out the draw.

It's looking like an absolute belter right now

It is getting better as forecast.

India just need to avoid disaster against the new ball then target Bashir when he comes on to put the load upon Archer, Stokes and Carse. If there is no swing after 30 overs then Woakes becomes vulnerable too. As ever the new ball is going to be absolutely crucial to the eventual outcome. The pitch is dry though so a result is the most likely outcome

Archer is the most exciting bowler I have seen live and from behind the arm. His spells against Australia in 2019? were legendary. Lords and The Oval

Yes agree about the draw being the outsider of three but there surely won't be any borderline declarations in a couple of days and any dec's will only be made when it's a nailed on two way result , that's how i see it anyway as still believing that avoiding a loss is a big part of the mindset.

Obviously a collapse in any of the next two innings would scupper that thinking but hard to see where that'll come from , fascinating match though.

Happy for Bumrah to get on the Honours Board. He deserves it

Everyone i've taken to watch live for the first time have always stated how much easier it looks on tv and are amazed as to how the batsmen even see the ball , have to see it live to appreciate what the sport is all about.

My fav live visits would have to be every time Barry Richards was batting and was fortunate enough when very young to see Lawrence Rowe hit a triple century in Barbados vs England in the seventies , grandfather took me.

Am i the only one thinking that i've no clue how well Archer will bowl or how effective he'll be in this match.

Poor old Siraj

Another one down!

When: 11 Jul 25 14:16
Yes!

I think he will bowl well, fast and accurate. Not as fast as before but still quick. the question is not stamina but durability

and another one down from Siraj! He would be within his rights to expload!

Glad for Siraj,

he deserved that last wicket and it was Smifff too. Good scalp.

That is an under par score imho but again it has to be set against what England bowlers do with the new ball.

So much negative comment about him. Root destroyed his career.

He is every bit as exciting as Bumrah and the crowd love him too.

I am trying to be patient here and wanting India to bat England out of this game. I will keep an eye on the bounce and to see if Root or Bashir can spin it.

I am looking to clear England red but they are not out of a chance of winning so might need to equalise.

As has been said, it can only be appreciated how quick bowlers are by seeing them live. Malcolm Marshall was the quickest i have seen, the ball was in the keepers gloves before i could blink !

Archer is quick and will always bowl some spells which stick in the memory but his test record hardly screams "messiah" like some make him out to be. He has only played 13 tests before this one, taking 42 wickets at a cost of 31 apiece.

Compare and contrast Archer with someone like Pat Cummins (who is just 2 years older), who has played 70 tests, taking 307 wickets at 22 apiece. Now that IS impressive and he is just as quick as well.

I faced Andy Caddick once. Only once. Exhibition game when I was playing village cricket in Somerset. He ambled up off a few paces, and the next thing was my stumps going in all directions. I didn't even see the ball.

and Caddick was not express, 84-86 mph

I think  80 mph is relatively brisk for most of us doesn't give you much time but manageable. Above 82 mph is fast. I have faced up to that speed once or twice and whilst not used to it there was no sense of fear or danger, just felling it was too quick for me to hit it unless over pitched then I can hit anyone!

I think your standard village green fast bowler is around 75 mph and he is the fastest in the club. Even they are rare.
