Luckily I backed India at 3.7 before the first wicket fell. They were so superior in the second test and now have Bumrah! I really expected India to be odds on when I first looked at around 11.30 this morning. Anyone who fancies England care to tell me why?

I would have settled for two down at lunch.

Another is a bonus.

Not sure which way the odds are heading. I guess England and draw down and India up with no wickets

Honours even I would say.

The big question for me is will the draw come into play? India should not really be in a position to win this match but that could change in the second half of the match.

Will it spin? Don’t know yet.

Certainly wouldn't be laying the draw at that price considering it's 1-1 and game 3 so that increases the mindset of not losing as a desired option , lose here and 1-2 down with 2 to play makes winning the series a mountain.

That will be India's mindset more than England's, however they only have Bumrah for one of the two

6 of the top 10 batters in the World playing in this match. 3 for each side.

No England bowler in the top 10.

Wow here comes the draw

England doing the right thing here. Ground and pound although right now it is more grinding it out.

Pope is a poor starter but now he has a chance as seen by keeping out that yorker

They should be able to blot it out. The only things that matter are wickets down and overs bowled and even overs bowled does not matter right now!

Feel the draw will be a big player for a while in this test , don't see England going at under 3 per over often and the need to bank a big long score and try to make it a two result game clearly somewhere in the mindset.

Yeah!

Andre Nel was a better pantomime villain but Siraj can make a face ok!

Good enthusiastic cricketer with skill and heart

I feel the draw will be a player certainly for the first 3 days. Nothing in the pitch to suggest demons as yet. The new ball is a problem for both teams and luck will play its part in that.

Just depends how it flattens out days 2 and 3 and how India cope with the new ball first up. Like I said this is a cracking batting pitch although a little slow right now. it might speed up a little days 2 and 3. I expect 2 scores of 400+

I would get both spinners on now and for an hour after tea, then look for some swing late in the day

It's the next overs before the new ball that'll confirm or not my view that they're focused on a very long and fairly painstaking at times innings in an attempt to make it a 2 way result given the state of the series , the final session scoring rate and approach will be telling in my view.

Not sure about that Hayden,

I think they are playing well and seem determined to see off the threat of the hard ball and Bumrah and not to give anything away.

And so you maybe right ashley!

I think these two are fluent scorers. I very much doubt they will try and grind India into the dust as much as score fluently as possible. The last session belongs to the batters even on day 1. I think it is good if they try and bat India out of the game. that is test cricket and the conditions are ideal for that.

It is worrying that the pitch is gripping. The surface might harden up tomorrow. It is not looking good for India imho and I think i should consider my draw position and clear England red but too early for that.

England rightly favourites and have plenty of time.

Not sure you will see much of the new ball today, the over rate is abysmal

Yes meaning eventually Jerry whenever it occurs , just shows the different feel to the match when it's around 3 an over unlike what we've become used to , any rate resembling bazball and they'd be past 250 for god knows how many.
