Thread observation
![]() Great thread full of different opinions , exchanging of views and varying betting strategies , a pleasure to be involved. Not a semblance of any abuse or insults just because someone disagrees with another ( not sure whether there was anyone absent that could have upset the apple cart )Note to other more argumentative forums = it can be done ![]() Until the next time , good luck all ![]() |

I like opposing opinions. It is healthy and gives you pause for thought. There are a lot of shifting currents during the game you might miss.

Tremendous win for England. They really are shaping up nicely for The Ashes with Atkinson, Archer and Woods to come back!
Batting line up looks good with Bethell chomping on the side. I think we lack a top class spinner but maybe Bashir will benefit from bouncier pitches in Aus. As for Stokes, none of the England Captains mentioned would have wrung out a win like that none! |

Good win, saw it out well.

It was and his call to bowl was wrong so an even better win.

Great win and well done WD. Probably right about other captains in this game so I will defer to your opinion, but as Hayden implied earlier , they are different times and the resulting strategies after 20/20 is enormous. Really Happy England won , but still not convinced Stokes is the best English Cricket captain of all time, but will happily change my view if he carries on like this for the next few years. As an aside I think he threw his wicket away today and it could of been costly

For me it is a little like Winston Churchill won WW2...
Not the Russia who smashed the Nazis or the Americans whose fire power finally defeated them. All in all we are privileged to see them all and imho lucky to have Stokes after years of 30-3 and 40-4. Not saying I didn't enjot the other Captains either. In fact I am quite often at odds with Stokes decisions and strategies |

Also it wasn't exactly Bazball! Just proper Test cricket.

Lovely couple of hours listening to TMS , luckily I didnt post on here as got everything wrong . Was born a six hit away from the ground and used to attend regularly , glad to see the pitch is a bit fairer these days.

India threw it away late on day four. I wouldn’t over-rate this win, as exciting as it was.
|
|
By:
It was a great win because they made a mistake at the toss and gave India the best conditions of the match and the pitch to bat on then came back thrice when nearly batted out of the game. Make no mistake it was a great win with two fasts bowlers to come back into the side

must be at least half a dozen wins under stokes often from seemingly hopeless positions at various stages of matches which no other england team would have won. i get that times have changed with much faster scoring rates achievable but you do have to get the 20 wickets as well
|

By:
Yeah, I’d forgotten about the toss error. Still feel India went too kamikaze too soon late on. Next test certainly interesting if we get the same enterprise from both sides.

India's top order must be devastated after losing that game.
Over the two innings, their first 5 wickets were worth 780 runs whereas their last 5 wickets only added only 55 runs in total, quite remarkably bad. If any of their lower order could hold a bat they would not have lost that game. Stokes got out of jail really. I'm not a fan of bazball and the way England played yesterday shows it doesn't always have to be deployed. |

Still a battting day or rather no demons yet.
I agree with you Dixie. Even with the value of hindsight Stokes said h3 would not have changed his call in the First Test. We have seen the consequences of that arrogance and ignorance in this Test. India were nearly out of sight 3 times in the first game. It is a credit to Stokes England won that game but before they did India let them back in 3 times. Further consequences are the wear and tear on his players nit jus5 the bowlers. He has also given the Indian batters opportunities to gain confidence. I would never call for Stokes to resign or not to do things his way but if he does not acknowledge his mistakes privately i5 is a serious flaw. Never go back, never say you are sorry and never admit you are wrong by all means but do not tell me you would make the same call again! |

Chickens roost
This is unreal He has also handed India LUCK Big mistake! A strangle and a jaffer after the pitch has been rolled! |

These two batsmen are glorious
Add Bethel to that and England are lookin* good going forward. |

Might have a big bet in the draw if the price is right.
England only 20-1 go figure that |
